Straw plaited article, a hand-crafted art widely popular in folk, is made of straw procured locally into various daily necessities, like baskets,slippers and so on. In Ningxia, “Pengyang” represents the most famous Straw plaited article, which is also awarded as Ningxia district-level intangible cultural heritage.

The straw plaited articles, produced in Pengyang County, have been greatly innovated on the basis of tradition. Straw can be weaved and shaped not only into articles of daily use, such as curtain and mat, but also arts varieties like toys and pendants in different kinds and colors. Pengyang straw plaited article contains distinctive local characteristics and are loved by domestic and foreign countries.
