the romance/relationship aspects in the hunger games are so heavily focused on (especially when the movies came out) that sometimes it’s easy to forget how foul the hunger games actually are.

like that’s children killing each other in an arena. some being as young as 12. insane.

i'm sorry but i'll never shut up about how katniss and finnick were literally each other's rocks. they were all each other had. i'd even say they were each other's lifelines because they knew what the other felt, and finnick probably more so in the sense that he's had experience with being in the capitol and he knew what they were doing to annie & peeta. and the way he was always looking out for katniss. letting her rant, being a safe space for her and a place of comfort. my favourite platonic soulmates <3

i think finnick and katniss’s friendship was what made her realise, in a way, that’s what real friendship looks like (not the gale bullshit).

everyday i think about how katniss and peeta probably put a drawing and description of THEIR PEARL in their little book

katniss and gale’s last conversation is so crazy because she saw her sister get blown up by a bomb of gale’s design and when she asks if it was actually theirs he says, “does it matter?” DOES IT FUCKING MATTER??? and then proceeds to feel sorry for himself because she’ll never want to date him now that HE GOT HER SISTER KILLED.

do you ever think about how happy katniss would have been after they rescued peeta from the capitol in mockingjay and he hadn’t been hijacked? how giddy and happy she was. how excited she was to see and hug and kiss him again. how she was running along imagining how he would kiss her. how he was bruised and beaten but at least she had gotten her wish of having him back and she would’ve helped him past all the other trauma by being by his side without break.

me rereading the hunger games books as an adult and seeing how everything truly is by design in the books and all the interwoven links between things that happen throughout all three of the books that show suzanne collins put so much thought into them and her characters
