Blog is canon-divergent - I am not caught up with Cyberverse, but have been vaguely spoiled and I’m not following canon.

Hot Rod is so tempted to just kiss Soundwave’s face all over. He is using every bit of willpower to be patient and wait until Soundwave gives a signal he wants that. Spoilers wriggle and twitch happily, and he leans into the touch at his waist. “Yes,” he responds, “Your boyfriend would love that.”

“I know an underground band doing a concert tonight.” It takes all he has not to reach for and tease a spoiler again. He doesn’t want to rush into things just yet, though he wanted to have Hot Rod in every way. He’d waited an entire war, he could wait a little longer. He still let his fingers trace over Hot Rod’s hips, before leaning closer. “I know you want to kiss me, Hot Rod. You don’t have to hold back.”

Hot Rod carefully deposited Ravage down. Sorry Ravage, he is in need of two hands right now. He found his way into Soundwave’s lap, arms draped over his shoulders. “I would be very offended if you didn’t.”

Ravage protested before slinking back to the closet to sulk. Soundwave, once Hot Rod was settled, brought his hand up to click his mask off, letting the other mech see his smile - as light as it was - before his hands came to rest on Hot Rod’s waist. “Would my boyfriend like to go out later, then?”

Hot Rod was careful not to drop Ravage as he was tugged closer, unable to mask the joy that lit up his optics. Hot Rod was no stranger to dating - but this felt different somehow. “I promise. Ravage is a bonus, but you are the main reason. Don’t listen to any lie Ravage tells you.”

“Good answer.” If Soundwave weren’t wearing his mask, Hot Rod would be able to see the smile over his lips. For now, he just gave another light tug, enough to bring Hot Rod to the couch in the room, sitting and pulling Hot Rod down with him. “Do I get to call you my boyfriend now?”

Ah. Yes. They didn’t really get to discuss too much further when that realization bomb was dropped, did they? Hot Rod looked up, blue optics wide. With one hand holding Ravage, he reached out his other one to Soundwave. “I would like to explore this. Is the date still on the table?” 

Between everything that had happened since, no there really hadn’t been much time to discuss things. Which was exactly why Soundwave had brought it up now - he’d put off talking to Hot Rod about it because of the peace talks and treaties. He took Hot Rod’s hand and pulled the other mech closer. “Only if you promise you’re not dating me for Ravage.”

“You mean not when you’re more interested in the cat than the mech?” Soundwave wouldn’t mind following through if Hot Rod wanted him to, but the other mech was now preoccupied with Ravage, who was purring up a storm in Hot Rod’s arms.

“Since you’re here, we need to talk, by the way.”

Hot Rod rolled his eyes, giving a half grin as he looked down at the content cat in his arms. He stroked under Ravage’s chin sweetly. 

“Okay, what’s up?”

“A question.” With a gesturing motion, Soundwave indicated the two of them. “What are we? I’ve made my stand for what I feel about you. What do you want to be to me, Hot Rod?”

For the next twenty four hours, my muse has to answer any asks received with total honesty.

“Don’t act like you don’t like it.” Is that a quiet laugh from Soundwave? Perhaps. He crosses his arms and tilts his hips as Hot Rod calls for the cyber-kitten - he hears Ravage scuffle around in the closet and, a moment later, there’s a black streak zipping right at the other mech.

“Told you he missed you more.” Soundwave noted as Ravage meowed loudly at Hot Rod for pets.

Hot Rod laughed, scooping Ravage up in his arms and cooing at him. He pet behind his ears gently, skritching them. 

“I mean yeah, I like it,” he muttered. “But there is a time and place!” In a quieter mumble, “And that time and place is only if you plan to follow through with it.”

He knows what he’s done. He’s not even fazed by that glare, just smirks under his mask.

“Beginning to think you only like me for my cat.” Soundwave teased as he turned to lead Hot Rod to where he’s fairly confident Ravage has taken shelter - away from him and away from his rowdy neighbors. “He’ll live, the vet said he’s healthy and officially free of tech-fleas.”

“Well, cats don’t flick my spoiler,” he retorts, sticking out his tongue. Terrible. Of course Soundwave knew what he was doing. 

“Tech fleas!” Hot Rod exclaimed. “Ravage- are you there? Pspsps, come here, I’m home now!”

“And suffer bureaucracy? No thanks.” He flicked a finger at Hot Rod’s spoiler, distracting him from talk of conferences and peace treaties. “Ravage is hiding. He’s mad at me because I took him to the vet. Bet you could lure him out though.”

Hot Rod’s spoiler twitched, and gave a petulant glare at Soundwave in retaliation. That is sensitive, thank you. “Oh no, poor thing. He has suffered the greatest injustice of us all! I must see him now.”

“Hey,” Hot Rod sulked. “You know why I had to go! And it was so boring. You should’ve come. We could’ve probably turned at least one room into a party.” Because that is definitely the purpose of the conference. “Awh~ Ravage. Where is he?”
