Hi guys, I’m Zarah! I’ve lurked in Tumblr for a long while now, but I’ve decided to give my Fields of Mistria content its own separate blog! So hello to anyone who’s new and to anyone I’ve known!
I’ve been working on my farmer and their concepts and story since late 2024, if you can believe it—mostly writing and developing them in private spaces with my friends. But lately I’ve gotten a lot more courage to start posting my stuff again.
You can also find me on my Bluesky, since I also post there!
Within the deepest confines of the criminal underworld is a legend that speaks of people who live and emerge from the Shadows. Some call them the Ghosts of Alda, the hidden hands that guide both Kingdom and Empire.
Amongst them all, one remains infamous in elusive circles—mostly for the fact that one of these spectral soldiers had deviated from the collective and left a trail of casualties in their wake.
For the @mistria69min challenge! I don’t know how many of these I can catch up on (I will most likely be taking my time with these if ever), but I thought I’d try it out! One thing I learned from this is that I’m.. a very slow drawer. I think it was nice to get out of my comfort zone and really try to figure this out on the fly though!
This doodle took about 68 min and 55 sec.
Week 1: Farmer Introduction!
Despite being a vast farmland existing for years, not many in Mistria have tried taking claim over Mistgrove. Some say that interest had simply died down, while others claimed that it was haunted. The latter wasn’t unfounded when you considered Mistria’s rich yet deeply unknown history. The existence of Sweetwater Farm also gave the town even less of a need to utilize Mistgrove. That is, until the earthquake struck, and Lady Adeline found it a good compromise to offer this plot of land for someone capable in exchange for help.
The townsfolk don’t really know much about Sunny Brier right away. What they do know right off the bat is that they were a member of the Adventurer’s Guild, specifically the Capital Branch. They had taken up Adeline’s request upon the recommendation of their guildmaster. When asked why, they simply reply that they wanted something peaceful; a change of pace. The earthquake was devastating for everyone, so they wanted to try lending a hand wherever they could.
More Info under the cut (because I’m embarrassed by how lengthy my explanation got):
Sunny arrived to Mistria in the middle of the night, during the final days of winter. After Balor accompanied Mistria’s newest arrival to Mistgrove, he is hounded with questions when he gets to the inn.
“So what’s the adventurer like?”
“…uh. Hm.”
Eiland is almost startled by Sunny’s presence in the dark, their eyes almost seeming like they glow under the torch light. As the noble siblings toured them around, Adeline couldn’t help but worry if she had cleaned up the farmhouse enough. Refurbishing it with a new set of furniture and a warm bed didn’t feel like it was enough to offset the house’s strange occurrences and unexplainable aura. Even land itself was laden with stones, trees, stumps, and weeds; it had evidently seen better days.
But none of that stopped the marveled wonder on the newcomer’s face.
It occurred to Sunny that Mistgrove was odd—they didn’t care. In fact, they seemed genuinely curious and excited to get started on their new life here; both for the mystery of the land itself and for their desire to help. They had little experience in farming, having to learn the ropes of proper crop care and rotation and doing their damned best to seem more approachable to animals, but they were a fast and willing learner with an open mind. They were kind, always eager to lend an ear and help wherever they could, and a hard worker. Even though they somewhat remain a friendly enigma, this attitude gained them the fondness and trust of the townsfolk (except for the local blacksmith, who has his own reservations, and the resident bathhouse owner, who senses something strange about the new farmer that she can’t pinpoint).
Eventually, Mistgrove turns into Sunflower Grove, a farm filled with flowers and sunshine… despite the shadows that lurk in the corners.
