"Well, I'd hate for any harm to come to your fingers," Diana agreed, accepting the cup from Cassie with a brush of their fingers; her own were warm. "Thank you, Cassie." She nodded up towards the entrance, heading up with a click of heels.
She didn't always enjoy New York, but it was an easy city to blend into. Diana wouldn't quite say she was hiding, per se—anyone who would like to try to arrest her was welcome to make the attempt—but she had, at least, learned to keep her head down as the Magistrate began spreading outside of Gotham with arms like creeping vines. A chignon and sunglasses, luckily, seemed to be enough in this case.
She had separated Diana Prince and Diana of Themyscira for decades. She could do so again.
"Tell me, kαμάρι μου," Diana said, in the same tone she'd used decades ago when Cassandra barely came up to her chest, "how would you differentiate between early Amazonian and early Mycenaean art?" Diana punctuated the question with a sip of her coffee. Perhaps it was a bit of a softball, given that the Amazons had been created long before the Mycenaeans had flourished, but it was hardly fair to man's world to compare the Amazons to their Cycladic contemporaries. And given the purpose of the day's trip, the question was relevant.
"Might be time to invest in gloves." Cassie was still a California girl at heart, even with having traveled so much in her lifetime - New York winters were so freakin' cold in comparison, and Cassie couldn't help but feel a strong preference towards warmer winter months back home. "Might benefit the keeping of the fingers thing, y'know." But the coffee in her hands was a decent substitute, warming her hands even through the sleeve around the takeaway cup. A quick sip indicated that the contents inside were a little too hot for her liking, but at least would serve to warm her hands. As grouchy as she might be about the cold and the New York of it all, going home was not exactly in her best interests at the moment. New York was easy to blend into, and with Cassie always having been so forward-facing in her identity it was best to avoid heading home for a number of reasons. Keeping her nose clean was a good reason, and keeping trouble away from her mother was an even better one. Though the grouchiness was cut with a smile, and Cassie took a few quick steps ahead of Diana and turned to walk backwards in front of her sister. "What is this, amateur hour?" She rolled her eyes, that smile took on a playful edge. "Pretty sure my mom would disown me if I didn't know that one. I grew up with this stuff, y'know."
