Are You Blind? || Hikaru and Isaiah

Ow.

Though he’d tried his best to swerge out of the way– carrying groceries, eggs amongst them, was a wonderful modifier of behaviour– he’d collided with some stranger in the middle of the street. Even after he’d not jaywalked, or stole a supermarket trolley, or anything along those lines, the eggs had ended up broken again.

Isaiah looked up, ready to fight– and his expression promptly morphed into a shit-eating grin, broken eggs forgotten. He’d gladly give up a few eggs for this prize: assholes were always such great entertainment– especially belligerent assholes.

Pot calling the kettle black? Perish the thought! Isaiah was just being– helpful, after all. The other man with the terrible personality was never going to meet a girl, otherwise.

“Maybe that great big orange pomeranian on your head’s got you all blind instead?” Catching sight of the other’s uniform, Novastar Academy’s insignia emblazoned extremely prominently, with all the– extravagant taste that rich people loved, Isaiah’s desire to cause trouble only increased.

Exponentially.

“What’s a rich kid doing walking, hm? Don’t you guys have fancy butlers and chauffers and what-have-you– fancy maids, and all that?”

There was something about this guy that boiled Hikaru’s blood. Even before the git had opened his mouth, What sort of an expression was that? He couldn’t place it, just basque in the fact that it was pissing him off.

“Pomeranian?” Hikaru repeated, trying to process what the man in front of him had just said. Was... was that an insult? He felt his face beginning to heat up with irritation. What would this guy know anyway? His hair looked like it desperately some TLC.

“Why does it matter to you if I’m walking?” He didn’t want to answer the questions. About his status, about the why. Sure, he went to a good school here. And it partially had to with his wealth. But while here, he also didn’t have his butlers and maids and fancy cars. 

His arms crossed over his chest as he scoffed aloud. “It’s not like I’m bothering you or anything.”

She was in detention. Hiyori Iki was in detention. 

She was more annoyed than upset really. The girl had been caught in the crossfire of some silly prank and being the selfless kind of person she was, took part of the blame.

Which in hindsight, she really should’ve thought would be bad. 

And it was! Now she was stuck washing the whiteboard, cleaning whatever gunk it was that stuck on it (and Hiyori really didn’t want to know what it was). She turned to look back at the real culprit of this situation before turning back to scrub harder at the board.

Her classmate and neighbor better be ashamed about this.

Hikaru sat in the back of the classroom, his legs crossed and propped on the desk in front of him as he leaned back. Bemusement covered his face as he watched Hiyori working up front.

“Don’t know why you keep looking back at me,” he said, yawning and stretching his arms above him. “You’re really doing a good job up there, something that I wouldn’t be able to do. Keep going, I think you’ve almost got it,” he said, dismissing her with a wave of his hand.

He laughed aloud and closed his eyes, thinking of the great prank that he had pulled earlier that day. It was marvelous, really. He would never be able to do such a good job again. If he had known that Hiyori would help to take the blame for the prank, he would have done more tricks around her. Maybe take her under his wing a bit more.

His eye opened as he glanced at the board. “I think you missed a spot. In the bottom right.”

Prank Wars|| Miyuki & Hikaru

   This has been going on for a past couple weeks now. He never even met his opponent but someone has  been secretly challenging his every tactic in pulling pranks at random people at the park. One moment he would pull a hilarious prank only to have it outwitted by someone else who would so happen to pull another hilarious prank as well. It was like Miyuki was battling some secret invisible prankster. He was certain one of these days he would catch the person in the act of the prank rather than seeing their work hours later.

  As cunning as he is, Miyuki was till unable to catch him but that doesn’t mean he won’t stop trying. He was determined to find this so called rival of his. This is the reason he had decided to stake out the park in hopes in catching them in the act. He was able to calculate the most likely time the person would be at the park by timing when and where a prank is placed and how long it takes for someone to be caught in the prank. Miyuki was sure he’ll catch the culprit this time. He wasn’t going to give up until he did.

It wasn’t every day that Hikaru found himself in a battle of cunning wits. It started off silly, really, as he witnessed somebody’s prank catch somebody off guard and he did the same thing shortly after. The more and more it happened, the more HIkaru found himself in a competition, a game as he preferred to call it. 

It was time once again for him to unleash his creativity, sitting idly on a bench. He had set up the prank fairly early when there weren’t any people around, to better set it up without the watchful eyes of everyone else. As he sat here,  his own eyes moved up, looking at the wooden bucket that was carefully set in the overpass of the trees, and followed the tiny string down the tree to where he sat. He held it in the hand that he leaned against, using the other to look at his phone--a good follow up.

His eyes lit up when he saw his victim walking down the path. Perfect. He closed his eyes and pulled on the string, waiting to hear the sweet victory of his. But it never came. His eyes opened and he frowned in irritation and yanked on the string--once, twice, thrice--but nothing happened.

“Dang,” he muttered. It probably jammed.

This day was a drag. Every day Hikaru found himself contemplating why he had to go to school. There was no reason. What good could an education in Wonderland do for him once he returned to the real world? The answer: nothing. But he still found himself sitting through his classes, sitting through two tests, and going about his day like another average one.

He was walking back to his home, his jacket thrown over his arm because of the warmer temperature. His eyes darted around, catching the sights of everybody that he passed. They seemed so content and boring. Or maybe it was just the overwhelming boredom that he felt, everybody just being grouped into it? He reached into his pocket to grab his phone, play a stupid game maybe. But it wasn’t there.

Shit. Where was it? He patted his other pocket and froze in his step when it wasn’t there. Was it back at school?

He quickly turned and took a step forward before bumping into somebody. He recoiled, taking a step back as he reeled from the collision. “Are you blind?” he asked, looking at the person in front of him. It was obviously Hikaru’s fault, but his pride wouldn’t take the blame. “Watch where you’re going?” he snapped at the person,.

A late alarm had ruined the redhead’s day. It was a little much for Hikaru to put it that way, but for him it was true. His alarm was to go off with precisely enough time to shower, style his hair, and arrive at the movie theater just as the movie began. 

His alarm had screwed everything up. By the time he got there the movie had about twenty minutes left, if he was lucky, and there weren’t going to be any other showings of the movie. Eyes scanned the screen that read all the movies that were out. Nothing.

Hikaru scoffed, clicking his tongue in annoyance as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his pants. “There’s nothing to do in this god-forsaken world,” he mused aloud.

Hey guys! I’m so sorry about my inactivity on both Hikaru and Kyo ._. School has been kicking my butt lately. I’ve been working almost nonstop on this group research project that I have to present on Wednesday and it’s literally knocked me out. But after our progression from this weekend, I’m very very excited. I also have a paper due. But after Sunday of next week I’ll definitely be more active.

And I’ll definitely apologize for all the waiting my partners have had to endure. So again. I’m sorry. Please don’t kill me. Please still love me >_<

“No. We can’t get it.” Kyoya repeated. He glanced down at his list, groaning about how much they still had to do. Part of him wanted to leave the twin here. Let him faun over the the boudoir. Though Kyoya couldn’t do that to the twin. He was his friend - regardless of how much he irritated him. 

“Hikaru, you do realize if we’re late to the bakery, our order won’t be processed and that means Honey-Senpai will be without desserts for a few days.” Kyoya adjusted his glasses. “But by all means, fondle the boudoir.”

A frown instantly appeared on Hikaru’s face, his hand still on the side of the item’s door. He didn’t even have to say anything for Kyoya to say no about the beautiful boudoir before him. He looked away and grumbled under his breath. “But Kyoya-”

Kyoya’s words froze Hikaru in his tracks. He could somewhat live without the boudoir, but he really wouldn’t admit it. But Honey-senpai without his sweets. That was an unreasonable request of anyone. He shuddered at the memory of the last time that the club had run out of the upperclassman’s sweets.

He pouted, jutting his lips out. “Fine,” he said, stepping away from the wardrobe. “Let’s go and get the cakes. I’ll probably come back for it later, though,” he admitted under his breath.

Chigusa was minding her own business. She had a lot to think about after all, with the whole…running into Kyoya unexpectedly thing. She was thinking over what to do now that he was back. What did he tell the host club about their relationship? Do they not like her n–

Chigusa looked up quickly . She heard someone call her name but she didn’t see anyone she recognized really. No one out of the ordinary…except for the guy currently running up to her. “Speak of the devil…” She thought to herself. It was one of Kyoya’s friends from the host club and oh god of course it was one of the twins. She could never tell them apart. Maybe he’d offer the info on his own? 

She smiled warmly. “Oh hey! Yeah it has been awhile, huh?” Chigusa didn’t really think any of them thought much of her to speak to her outside of the host club, much less without Kyoya there.

Maybe Hikaru had been jumping the gun with calling out to Chigusa. He could have easily shrugged it off as him being bored or something else of the sort. But he knew that there was something else. If she was here, he wondered if she had seen Kyoya.

That was his ulterior motive: operation get them back together. But he really didn’t think through his battle plan before he had approached her. Now he was standing before her, and she had already noticed him. He needed to think of something to say fast before the awkward silence overcame them. “So have-” you caught up with Kyoya. He couldn’t say that. The twin wasn’t that dumb.

“So have you been keeping busy?” It was awkward to say it like that but it was better than trying to forcefully think of something else to say.

It was strange to think that this would be one of-if not his actual-first conversation with the girl. Maybe it was because of the past connection that she had to the club.

’ —yeah, it’s like you’re low-key kidnapping me. ‘ Haruhi joked, rolling her eyes.

Looking back up in surprise Haruhi placed a finger on her cheek in thought. 

’ —I dunno. Maybe an amusement park visit? Do you like those? ‘

Hikaru’s grin disappeared as his face turned solemn. “For all you know, I could be kidnapping you.” He kept the silence hanging between them before he finally broke into laughter. “I wouldn’t kidnap you. Milord’s the only that would actually kidnap his little daughter.”

He grumbled, leaning back in his seat. “I wish I thought about the amusement park. I can’t remember the last time I had been to one. We’ll just have to go there next time.”

Haruhi could feel a vein pop in her head and Hikaru continued to ignore her question. It was getting quite irritating.

’ —I can’t help it. You’re acting suspicious… ‘ she sighed, crossing her arms.

Looking up at the sudden honk of the bus, she raised an eyebrow. They were taking the bus? Guess they were going somewhere a little far.

’ —alright, alright! I’m going! ‘

Hikaru smirked a smug grin. “Suspicious, hmm?”

He snorted. He could tell from her face that Haruhi was getting irritated with all of Hikaru’s secrecy. it was an art, really, to keep all of the secrets and make suspicious actions look so good.

He hopped on the bus and took a seat towards the back, sitting by the window. “So,” he said, drawing our his word. “What sort of things do you think I have planned?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

She actually made someone laugh. She’s actually socializing with another human. Is she growing as a person? Is she finally going to be able to function normally? Kyoko just stood there, a full on idiotic grin on her face.

“Identical huh? How was that growing up? I don’t know how I could live with someone having the same face as me.” A laugh left Kyoko, she was actually having fun talking to Hikaru.

Hikaru felt his teeth grit together behind his lips. How did he go about describing the trials and hardships of living with an identical version of yourself? He personally loved having Kaoru as his brother and would never replace that feeling he shared with his closest person. But it was how everybody else around him reacted that made it hard on him.

“It’s... interesting,” he finally decided to say. He stuffed his hands into his pocket as he sucked on his cheek. “You build your bonds, you can play around with people. It’s just like having a normal friend.” He chose his words carefully. He didn’t want to give any leeway to show any of his emotions. Sure, he somewhat knew who this girl was now. But it definitely wasn’t time to tell his life story to a complete stranger.

she asked, with a slightly annoyed tone. Hikaru had suggested that the two go out to ‘someplace‘ and flat out refused to tell Haruhi any of the details. Knowing Hikaru’s mischievous personality, this whole ordeal made Haruhi a bit apprehensive on agreeing to go in the first place. After all, she could have been studying right now. Then again, Kaoru was nowhere to be seen, which was a bit odd.

’ —seriously, I’m getting kind of paranoid. You better not lead me to some prank. ‘ she half-joked. Half-joked.

Hikaru flat out chose to ignore Haruhi every time that she asked where they were going. What was the point of a surprise if you spoiled it? Exactly. There was no point. So it was better for him to stay quiet. But he had to laugh aloud at Haruhi’s paranoia.

“Nope. This isn’t a prank. Don’t be so serious,” he said, nudging her with his elbow.

He heard a honk in the distance and his grin widened. A bus appeared, pulling up from around the corner. As much as he hated the idea of riding the public, germ-fueled transportation, he was excited for their ‘fun’ to start. He gestured towards the front of the bus when the doors swung open. “C’mon, let’s go!”

“Oh, the aquarium…?” Chrome couldn’t help but sound a bit taken aback. As far as the young fisherman knew, the only people who would talk, much less walk up to him, were either his family, his fellow men of the rod, or a certain brunette he met just a couple of days ago. What made this even weirder however, was the fact that this rather forward person was obviously from Aliena and must be quite high in the social rankings, whom he thought had other things to worry about other than the stuff of the sea and oceans.

Still, anyone whom he feels has even the slightest of interest in these kinds of things, like this guy in front of him, well, were ok to humor in Chrome’s small-ish book.

“Yeah, um, I can’t exactly give you directions since I’m rather subpar at wording them, but I can most surely lead you there. Oh, I’m Chrome by the way. Chrome Grisaille, at your service.” The young fisherman introduced himself, his hand extended and expecting a handshake from this new person in front of him.

This person was cheery. Too cheery towards a person that he just met. Didn’t he know that you shouldn’t be too trusting towards people? 

Hikaru’s eyes narrowed. This person--Chrome--couldn’t give directions? So Hikaru would be stuck having him around? He would rather opt to wander around aimlessly until he found the place. But the damage had already been done and the man already offered to help him .

Damn. He was caught between a rock and a hard place.

He looked between Chrome and the outstretched hand in front of him. He... he was expecting a handshake? Hikaru scoffed, stuffing his hands into his pocket. “Sorry. I’m not partial to introducing myself to a complete stranger.” He lifted his head and looked away. “Let’s stop wasting time and go.”

This... this wasn’t a situation that Hikaru was expecting to find himself in. While he never had personally spoken to Chigusa Hinamura, he know exactly who she was in a crowded area. He had seen her often come to Namba and frequent a visit with Kyoya. And he had seen her at a few of the Otori parties.

He also knew about their relationship and that it hadn’t ended too well. Hikaru was surprised when Chigusa all of a sudden vanished from the lives of Kyoya and the entire host club. He was even more surprised to see her here in Aliena. How long had it been--?’

“Chigusa!” Hikaru called out. Even though he never really talked to her, he missed the girl’s presence. He ran up to her and sheepishly ran a hand through his orange hair. “Long time no see,” he said, a grin on his face.

“Hey, I’m not a social outcast for nothing!” Kyoko almost started to laugh, but managed to restrain it, but a few chuckles leaked out.

“Wait, you have a brother?” Genuine curiosity was apparent in Kyoko’s eyes. She knows how it is to have a sibling, and that she misses her’s so much.

Hikaru laughed aloud at the girl’s comment. “I never said you were!” He wiped at his eyes, smirking at the girl. “I can’t tell if you’re being defensive or joking.”

His foot dug into the snow, burying the toes of his boot. “Yeah, I have a twin. His name’s Kaoru.” He shrugged his shoulders and threw his hands into the air, palms up. “I would say we’re identical, but I”m obviously the better looking twin.” It was true. Not even Kaoru could deny it.
