With Clint behind him and Darcy in front of him Steve found himself moving with the music a little better. Â He reached up to rest his hand on Darcyâs waist. Â âOh. Â Umm. Â I donât know this song.â Â He murmured. Â His eyes slid closed and he tried to get his head to stop spinning. Â He couldnât believe heâd actually almost finished a whole bottle of whiskey by himself. Â That was too much too fast.
Darcy exchanged a glance with Clint and kept dancing, making sure the good captain stayed upright. She knew it took a huge amount to get him drunk so maybe he just wasnât used to it. She kept dancing though, her hands on Steveâs hips to help him move. She was just having fun, she had no delusions to the fact that she was out with three guys that were definitely her buddies, rather than anything else and she liked to dance. âAfter this song weâll go get more drinks, okay?â she called, hopefully loud enough for Clint to hear her.
Clint nodded his head vigorously at the idea. It felt really good to just get out and let loose for once. And the darkness of the club let them be, well, themselves. Here they werenât Hawkeye and Captain America and Jane Fosterâs Assitant (and really, Clint was going to come up with a cool name for Darcy because she deserved one, too) they were just Clint and Steve and Darcy. Phil got to enjoy constant anonymity because he worked behind the scenes and Clint would be lying if he said he wasnât jealous of that.
The song started to fade out and Clint slipped around Steve and wrapped his arm around his and Darcyâs waists. âTo the bar!â He said, grin wide and uncaring, definitely feeling loose from his earlier shots. He noticed that Steve was a little on the tipsy side and decided that he should probably refrain from having another entire bottle, but a few quick drinks wouldnât hurt.
He ordered a shot of whiskey for himself this time around, cheap shit that he wouldnât feel like he was wasting by shooting it (he did know how to appreciate good whiskey, thank you very much), and a rum and coke to chase it with. He leaned on the bar next to where Phil was seated, shoulders touching and Clint smiled over at him.
He bumped his shoulder back against Clintâs and smiled, leaning in to talk against his ear, since it was so loud. âYou look really fucking good out there, Clint,â he whispered. âAnd I know what youâre trying to do. Iâll just remind you later that youâre mine.â he pulls away and passes Steveâs bottle to him and Darcy her purse, just in case she needs it. And also so he isnât holding it anymore. There was a reason he didnât date women, one of the main ones was so that he didnât have to hold their bags.
Steve slumped against the bar. Â He felt better after getting away from the crush of bodies on the dance floor. Â He ordered a club soda, abandoning his bottle. Â Maybe he should slow down a bit. Â He might not be as invincible as he thought. Â He sat on the bar stool next to Darcy and just decided to people watch for a bit.
Darcy glanced over at Steve. "Hey, maybe I should take him back to the tower? I had no idea that we could wreck Captain America." she kissed both Clint and Phil on the cheek and hooked her arm with Steve's and led him outside to hail a cab.
The cab ride is quick and she manages to get him upstairs to his floor before she kisses his cheek too and sneaks down to Bruce's floor. She takes off her dress, draping it over a chair and then crawls into bed with Bruce, snuggling against him.
