Inside BADI Magazine - Jumpin' Journal

As a widely circulated magazine that tried to cater to the many interests of its readers, Badi's editors commissioned and published short stories, manga, articles and even astrology columns. One regular feature of BADI throughout its 25 years was the Jumpin' Journal section.

This section typically highlighted gay lifestyle products and purchases from across the globe. The editors would change focus from month to month, sometimes looking at television and film, other times art and saleable products.

This issue featured a number of Western art books and music albums. Some interesting highlights include U.S. photographer Duane Michal's photobook, Salute, Walt Whitman, Billy dolls, and the Visionaire 21 Deck of Cards. More specific to the times, the journal also promoted a rainbow whistle that could be attached to one's keychain. This would be helpful in case one was assaulted in a cruising space.
