People know that the whole "don't portray [harmful action] because viewers might recreate it" thing is a rule for children's shows right? Hot fandom discourse take but framing dark content as only being acceptable if its a vehicle for exploring personal trauma is just giving ground to the puritan segments of fandom.
Simply liking dark content for its own sake is perfectly fine.
It also opens the door for random strangers to interrogate people about their trauma to determine if they're "allowed" to write dark content, only to then most likely turn around and use that sensitive information against them anyways.

It is OKAY to have content preferences and to be uncomfortable with certain ships or topics, controversial or not. It is OKAY to distance yourself from such content and block certain tags or creators.
It is NOT OKAY to actively hate and harass real people for creating content of fictional characters that features things that make you uncomfortable.
