I always try to be really upbeat and happy on this blog, but I want to take a moment to really address something that has been bothering me. I understand that the Lolita world is about being comfortable in your own skin, so much so, that you’re able to carry yourself with confidence despite being different among your peers. My question is: Why, when we all enjoy the same things and experience the same criticisms, do we attack one another(especially girls who are in the same comm)? How are we all supposed to be happy and comfortable with ourselves when our friends are talking badly about us behind our backs? That’s the point–you can’t.

If you have an issue with someone(even if you don’t care for them to begin with), tell them. Resolve the issue before it creates more drama that can ultimately be avoided with ease. To me, this seems like a very easy task. To be honest is to be mature, and to be mature is to not create drama among your friends.

Lolita fashion is something that I am very passionate about, but I’ve found myself questioning the motives(or sincerity) of a few friends. This makes me uncomfortable, obviously. I’m constantly worrying that some of my friends may not care for me, but decide to lie to my face and tell other friends about it. I wonder if they realize that I have feelings and insecurities, too. I’m a human being, I can only correct the issues that I know exist. I’d rather know that I’m a bad person in someone’s eyes than to be deceived into thinking I am someone that they can trust wholeheartedly.

A word of advice to everyone–Lolita or not: if you have a problem, deal with it in a manner that you can be proud of. Confront the issue head on, not underhandedly. Being dishonest makes you a bitch, not someone respectable.

This isn’t something that I have only observed in my own life, it is something that I see everyday all over social media, during work, and in marriages/relationships. It makes me sad because this is where a lot of bullying occurs; it comes from some of your closest friends. Do you see the problem here? If you can’t trust your friends, who do you trust? Think about that fact before you start to talk badly about someone that is supposed to be you friend. And hey, it’s okay to vent to other friends about your problems, just make sure to actually fix the issue with the friend you have a problem with.

Don’t make them want to quit something that they love because they feel uncomfortable, okay? Lolita fashion is supposed to be fun, not something that is supposed to make people feel bad about themselves. Please be nice to one another!

Looks like I will be living in Iwakura, Aichi prefecture. That’s about 15 minutes from Nagoya City, I think. I couldn’t be more excited! I’ll be teaching at 3 high schools, so that makes me a little more nervous than before.
