"art will never be
chains that bound her,
it is her one outlet,
her one chance
at true freedom."
-------------------------------
her "gift" is her curse,
it's cursed to kill,
cursed to snatch her way
from her happiness,
her friendships,
her humanity.
she is told it will save her,
but she is living proof
that only ruin
comes out of curses.
but for now she will forget
by putting pencil on paper,
thoughts drifting to
each individual stroke.
in the beginning,
she is quite meticulous,
the idea of perfection
clouding her mind.
but soon enough,
love clears the clouds.
the love of art,
the love of escape,
the love of peace,
and perfection is
a priority no more.
art will never be
chains that bound her,
it is her one outlet,
her one chance
at true freedom.
taking this from her
is impossible.
art doesn't have to
be a gift or a curse,
art is simply a means
of creating beauty
in the darkest of times.
and for young hazel,
this beauty was her drive
to keep surviving,
to keep fighting,
because she still had hope
that she would stop
the evil she had created.
later on, she would look back
at that very moment
and realize
she may have saved the world,
but it was her art
that had saved her.
