Gonna be real... I did not clock that as defending the slur when I first read them. Tought they were just "this slur is bad, but here's why it was in the game" sort of explaination, not necessarily a defense to it.

But seeing the replies and reblogs on them, seems like I was wrong.

Ts is so annoying. I feel like I see more ppl who dislike gwylan fans and gwylan than I see of the actual annoying gwylan fans that these people dislike so much and it's getting quite tired.

Is this another case of dolcord specific frustration? Because most of the gwylan enjoyers I see around treat them like any other love interest and actively joke on their weird ass so?? And I'm not even a staunch gwylan lover, I think they're fun and funny to mess around with but they're not my fav out the whole, but even I'm getting a little irked and frustrated with how much hate the fans at the very least get (couldn't care less if people hate the character, I didn't make him). It's getting to the point where it's sounding like it's just a thing to say that gets a general rallying behind it because there are genuine frustrations around the character and its creator. Like it's the cool, counterculture opinion. That sort of feel.

I get annoyance over your fav being shafted for this one instead repeatedly, and I'm not going to deny the existence of these annoying fans because I only know the twitter space I've curated and Tumblr so I don't see everything, but hooollllyyyy FUCK you guys are getting as annoying as these faceless gwylan fans you're running into that are ruining the experience for you. I think some of you need to pull back and just spend some time alone/away from the media/fandom. Like genuinely.

(and before anyone else says "so you're saying we can't voice our frustration/opinions!?" No I'm not, but I'm finding a number of you are beyond just voicing frustrations, critiques, and opinions on the fandom, fans and the game, and are just getting incredibly angry at what you dislike, think those feelings go deeper than they do, then rave online and treat it like it's a bigger wider issue because you already have a distaste for the whole. Anything that reaffirms your annoyance gets blown up instead of processed. Take a breather)

in my totally unbiased and not biased opinion, I think Great Hawk is a better monster love interest than Black Wolf. Hawk is alot nicer and doesn't force the player to do anything and makes a great spouse. plus i just find the tower more fun lol.

ive never responded so i hope im doing this right but im not telling people to not play but im just saying whats the point about complaining constantly about things that wont change? is it not upsetting to always be shitting on the negatives? because i swear most of the complaints i hear are "i dont like the magical stuff" and it just feels like its getting old, people can still complain, i wasnt trying to tell anyone what to do, moreso just share what i think on this confession blog

I don't know what to think about DoL because whenever some criticism comes up people either go for the "It's just a porn game you guys." whenever it's fucking convenient, like just changing the slur term to intersex which would hurt absolutely noone except those who fetishize terms like futa or herm. At least a toggle could be added to to keep the old terms if you want and your kink is more important than real people's dignity.

On the other side, to be honest I'm not even sure what the development team wants with the game by itself. I felt like DoL 's subtext was great as social commentary for neocapitalism, depravity, sex work, human trafficking, and vulnerable groups (orphans/queer people/intersex people). Yet new DoL's writing has become pretentious yet tone deaf and superficial (like Gwylan's commentary on world war II and portraying eden as the doomguy of the forest) In Peter Griffin words: "It insists upon itself". Which makes me miss the times when DoL had subtle commentary while still having the night dock guards holding sex toy driller guns.

I've seen plenty of people criticize Gwylan in DoLCord and none of them are banned. I don't know where this idea that any Gwylan criticism gets you banned came from but it sounds like a cope to me from people that got banned for something else that they're just too embarrassed to admit. I would sincerely like for someone to point me to a single instance of someone being banned for it, and not for sending death threats or bragging about starting a raid. It sure is easy for people to just lie here.

This is also Dolcord's fault because DoL mods stalk people's twitters and heavily moderate reddit... No one wants their account be scrutinized and made fun of by the devs, with their reputation of literally ban shaming you and being made fun of their in private with their buddies. Nor do people want to make an alt account whose sole purpose is to express frustration in the game... They're even banning people for criticizing their stuff in a different language. Going anon in dolconfessionsss is the only safe way to vent.

The other alternative is venting on forums like lolcow or 4chan and ain't no one here wanna deal with those anons, not even dolcord.

this game started as a 4chan game so it started there. it's slur central. it was never really *meant* to spread to other places like tumblr, it just did.

PG has admitted in the past he's from /v/ and learned the game via it being posted on /v/, so yeah that's a factor too

shit talking? you mean wishing ill on contributors or purity and hoping they die? sure! if thats what you define it as. but i feel like i need to point this out. IT IS INSANELY easy to get a no context screenshot of someone saying lmao i hope xyz chokes in a context that would be easily interpreted as a 'haha they did a thing i dont like i hope they stub their toe' but that ISNT the context that the people from dolcord are after. they actively stalk and join 'public' communities to take screenshots of any jokes people make.

i dont agree with that. but if you want to tell someone to go off themselves, maybe dont do it when there's obsessive stalkers who want to prove themselves to the mods in dolcord that they're friends with to a point of absurdity. but no. ive never seen anyone get banned for saying i hate gwylan and i hate purity. ive seen people get banned for wishing ILL upon people and hating on other people in the community in regards to that, yes. so maybe you're just delusional, or maybe you want to defend your friends making edgy jokes. but the dolcord mods dont care for context. they called an entire group of people pedophiles because ONE minor snuck into that group and was promptly banned the second they were found. but that was enough for them to leave that entire group up as 'pedophiles' for their bans in the strike channel for OVER a week

all they had to say for this was 'our bad btw this was a fuckup' oopsie, called someone a pedophile for no reason and had multiple community members go out of their way to harass said people as a result and GUESS what they got? STRIKES.

insane fucking behavior. but im not defending dolcord. im just saying that if people get banned, generally you did something stupid publicly and said it toward REAL people, either timko, purity or a contributor who dont deserve it, regardless of them being particularly shitty people or not.

needless to say. i dont think its unfair for dolcord to ban people who are making jokes like this when there's no reason to assume it is in good faith or light hearted. they dont know you or the people they ban lmao
