Summary: After an argument with his father, Billy finds himself climbing in your window, desperately seeking the comfort and arms of his girl.
Warnings: Strong language, mentions of Billyâs father and an argument with him, Billy loses his temper for a tiny tiny second, reader is shy (sheâs so me). Not much description of reader apart from hair, she can be who you want her to be! I think thatâs everything!
Authorss notes: Hi dolls, another Billy fic! This one is inspired by Lana Del Reyâs song California, specifically the lyrics âyou donât ever have to, be stronger than you really are when youâre lying in my arms.â Hopefully you like it, please enjoy đ§¸

Billy gazed in through her bedroom window, dark eyes brewing with a storm, his breathing heavy almost as if his lungs were crawling out of his chest. His muscles still tense after the fight he just had with Neil, his father, if he could even be called such a thing. He stopped, taking a minute to quietly observe his girl before knocking and completing his climb in through her window as he intended to do so.
She sat perched on her bed, books strewn out in front of her. No doubt studying. Her hair had fallen over one delicate shoulder, blocking her pretty face from Billy's view and buying him extra time to watch her. In her hair was tied one of the pink ribbons that Billy loved so much. She was so perfect, like a doll.
His gaze wandered to the rest of the bedroom. Troubled eyes sweeping over the place in which she existed. The room was washed in the soft and comforting glow of a bedside lamp, its honeyed light turning the pale pink walls warm and softening everything it touched. Upon her bed was a thick quilted bedspread, pink with gentle floral markings dancing along the fabric. At her headboard lay pillows with frilly edging, accompanied by multiple stuffed animals that looked a little tired in the sweetest way, their soft fabric smoothed down from years of constant cuddling.
The room felt quiet. It felt safe, like a private and peaceful corner carved out from the rest of the outside world. It was a world so far removed from his that Billy wasn't sure it was something he was ready to interrupt, or something he even deserved to be apart of.
He shook his head, attempting to rid himself of the thoughts plaguing his mind. He knocked on her bedroom window, his mask of self confidence, and what some might call 'cockiness', slid back on, morphing himself in to the Billy the world knew.
......
Her hand moved gracefully across the page as she worked on finishing an essay for her Literature class. The pen gliding delicately, translating her thoughts in to reality. Suddenly, a knock came from her window. Startled, she flipped her head around, curls spinning around to fall on the other shoulder, her pen dragging of it's course, leaving a streak of ink. Her eyes widened upon the sight of Billy outside of her bedroom window.
She haphazardly threw the book that was resting on her thighs across the bed, kicking her legs over the side and making her way towards the window, the lace trimmed end of her nightgown brushing against her calves as she tiptoed hurriedly. Clasping the window, she carefully dragged it upwards, desperately trying to avoid making any kind of noise that would alert her parents.
âBILLLY!â she whisper shouted as he clambered in, his long limbs filling the space of the window. âWhat are you doing here,â she whispered frantically, closing the window ever so gently as Billy stood up to his full height from where he had landed on the floor. âMy parents could hear! Oh God, if they do theyâll kill me, my dad will kill yo-â Billy smirked, taking in her concerned expression, her eyebrows drawn together and doe eyes wide, pleading.
He reached his arms out, large hands clasping her flailing hands to interrupt her. âWoah, woah hold up doll face. They ainât gonna hear ok? Now quit your panicking and give me a kiss yeah?â He chewed his chewing gum, that sinful smirk playing on his face, head tilted looking down at her. She took a second to take him in. He was wearing tight denim jeans and a red shirt unbuttoned so far down she could see the plains of golden skin of his muscled chest. The curls of his hair were slightly wet from the rain outside, droplets having fallen off and wetting his long eyelashes, making his dark eyes even more alluring. God, he was handsome. He looked like every parentâs worst nightmare to be stood in their daughterâs bedroom. She bit her lip.
She released a breath she didnât know she was holding and, placing her hands upon his solid chest, reached up on her tiptoes to plant a delicate peck on his lips. Billy grinned as her lips were on his, she tasted like her signature strawberry lip gloss. She pulled back, glancing up at his eyes as he licked his lips, smirk still playing on his handsome face. She noticed something in his eyes, something off, something troubling.
Stepping back, Billy moved around her, his hands on her hips as he made his way to the chair at her desk behind her. He sat down, strong legs parted wide. She noticed how the tight jeans emphasised the outline of his thigh muscles. âSo⌠what uhm.. what brings you here?â She asked curiously, perching carefully on the end of her bed. Billy glanced at her, his eyes slightly hooded, âWhat? I canât see my pretty girl when I want to, that it?â She glanced down, fidgeting at with her hands as a pink blush spread across her features. He knew she loved it when he called her his pretty girl. She was, after all.
âItâs just.. I guess youâve never climbed in my window before,â she whispered, still anxious of her parents hearing. Billy laughed, âwell maybe you should just get used to it then sweetheart.â She looked at him, giving him a shy smile.
He seemed tense. His right leg bounced in a way that made her think that he wasnât even entirely aware that he was doing it. The hand holding the arm rest of the chair he sat on seemed almost to be gripping it, as though he needed something solid to ground him. âCâmere sweetheart, I came over to see you, youâre too far, need to feel you.â His voice broke her out of her trance in watching Billy. Wordlessly, she stood up, tip toeing across to where Billy sat, avoiding the sections of floor she knew would squeak.
Stopping cautiously in front of him, she took the hand he held out towards her. Their hands slot together like pieces of a puzzle, his large hand engulfing her smaller one. As Billy took her hand, his other came to rest on her waist, tugging her gently until she plopped down on his thigh. She let out a small gasp, her eyes widening. Billy smirked, his tongue poking his cheek to hide his amusement. âThatâs better sweetheart,â he spoke smugly. She smiled, raising her arm hesitantly to rest around Billyâs shoulders, her other hand finding a place on the part of his chest that was covered by his shirt, one finger falling to rest on his bare chest. He glanced down at her hand, noticing her pink finger nails.
âIs everything ok Billy?â Her angel like voice brought his attention back to her pretty face. âSure baby, why wouldnât I be, huh?â She giggled slightly, her gaze falling down, flustered from the pet name that had slid out. Billy chewed his gum, an open mouthed smile adorning his features, he gently shook her, âBaby, look at you getting all flustered. Sâtoo easy sometimes.â She raised her head, âI just⌠you seem different⌠I just want to make sure youâre fine is allâ
Billy shifted in his seat, he cracked his neck slightly to the side. Had his mask slipped? âIâm fine sweetheart, honestly quit worrying about me.â She nodded her head, still unsure. âWell⌠how did you get here? I didnât hear the Camaro,â she asked, head tilted to the side in curiosity. The hand on her waist loosened slightly. âUh, I walked,â Billy answered, his voice neutral. Her eyes widened, her shock visible on her face. She never was good at hiding her emotions. âYou.. you walked?â she exclaimed. âBut.. but you never walk, you always take your car?â
Billyâs gaze was slowly turning colder. âFelt like it,â he answered sharply. He avoided telling her that he had only walked because he was in such a rush to get as far away from Neil as possible that he had forgone getting his car keys and abandoned the Camaro. She frowned, âBut itâs raining. You never walk, are you sure youâre ok? You ca-â
Billy felt something in him snap. âJesus woman, I said I was fine, just drop it.â He watched as her shoulders drooped, her perfect lips moulding in to a frown as she dropped her gaze to the floor with a silent âoh...â Billy sighed, dropping his head as he ran his hand across his face. The anger and frustration towards his father had now turned in to a deep fear that he was turning in to his father. âFuck,â he muttered, âLook sweetheart Iâm real sorry ok, could you, could you look at me please?â
Lifting her head, she saw Billyâs hollow eyes staring back at her. âI.. I just want to help Bills, thatâs all,â she whispered sadly. Before she could drop her head again, Billy took her chin between his fingers, forcing her gaze on him. âI know sweetheart, I know. Look the truth is uh..â he dropped his hand from her delicate face, pushing it through his hair and looking anywhere but in her beautiful eyes. âThe truth is I had a real bad argument with Neil, and I uh I had to get out of that hellhole. Didnât have time to take my car, just.. just needed you.â
Her eyes softened as Billy opened up to her, her heart breaking at the insecurity and sadness in his voice. His usually bright eyes betraying him with a distant and glassy look. âOh Billy,â she whispered dearly, âCome here.â She leaned in, wrapping both arms around him to engulf him in a tight embrace. Billy held her cautiously, his body stiff and tense. He took in the sweet vanilla scent of her perfume, the feeling of her soft hair against his skin, and the feel of her body in his arms. After a moment, he allowed himself to melt in to the embrace, choosing to allow himself to seek comfort in his girl.
âBilly,â she spoke gently, moving back slightly to look at him. âYou know you can come and talk to me about anything?â Billy sighed, resting his head against her chest, her arms coming to wrap around his head and play with his curls. âI know baby, sâjust I donât want you to think Iâm ⌠weak, you know.â His voice came out muffled, and her heart broke for him. She placed both hands at either side of his face, lifting his head up so that she could look at him.
âBilly, you donât have to be strong all the time, especially when youâre in my arms.â
She held his gaze, a beautiful smile spreading across her face. âShit sweetheart, howâd I get so lucky with you huh?â She giggled again, the sound bringing a smile to Billyâs face as he embraced her in a sweet hug.
Summary: Since tutoring Billy Hargrove, she found herself falling for his charming and flirty ways. She thrived off of his attention, and when she thought heâd broken a promise to her, he made her a better one she couldnât refuse.
Warnings: MDNI coarse language, alcohol use, cigarette use, Billy is a little bit of a jerk, reader is introverted. I think thatâs everything!
Authors notes: Hi dolls⌠another Billy fic⌠Iâm really inspired with him atmâŚ. This is quite long and I rewrote it multiple times yet Iâm still not happy ⌠I donât know if itâs any good tbh but I loved the idea so I ran with it⌠even though it might not be the best, please enjoy đ§¸

Happy Holidays đ
The warm fluorescent lights of the Hawkin's High library hummed and flickered above the wooden desks, the light casting shadows between the shelves. Students lingered in the aisles, some tracing book covers with their fingers, others looking for privacy in the corners where no one could see. Outside, the sun was setting, leaving in its a trail a vibrant pink sky, streaks of orange dancing through it.
Somewhere in the library, amongst the whir of the microfilm machine and the clicking heels of the librarian, her hushed giggles could be heard. She sat at a desk, her body leaning in, chin resting in her palm as she stared dreamily at Billy Hargrove. Her study books long forgotten.
Billy sat in the chair to her left, denim clad legs spread wide, his body leaning in to meet hers across the desk. He was so close, invading her personal space. Not that she minded. Not at all. She could smell his cologne, mixed with the faint smell off cigarette smoke, invading her senses and setting them alight. He was intoxicating. âLove your hair today sweetheart,â his smooth voice broke her out of her daze, her eyes moving to where his ringed finger had reached out and taken a curl in his hand. âSuits you,â he grinned, chewing on his gum.
She blushed, a pink shade dancing across her freckled cheeks. Looking down as Billyâs finger twirled around her hair, she giggled, âBillyyyy⌠thank you I guess but⌠youâre distracting me againnn. Weâre supposed to be studying.â Billy scoffed, leaning back in his chair, mock rolling his eyes as he retreated his hand from her hair, âOnly one distracting round here is you angel, youâre looking so pretty how am I meant to concentrate huh? Really, youâre killing me sweetsâ She bit her lip, Billy's eyes tracing the movement, not trusting herself to respond when he spoke to her like this.
It had been like this for exactly the past month, ever since she was assigned to tutor Billy Hargrove, Hawkinsâ resident âbad boy.â Billy was flirty and charming since day one, but he was also sweet. He gave her attention that no boy had ever given her before. It was attention that she never knew she needed until she got a sinful taste of it. It was attention that she had come to love. She craved Billyâs attention and lived for the time they spent together alone every week.
Before Billy, no one had ever paid her any kind of attention, especially not boys. She had a way of blending in to the background, a presence that made people look past her. She moved through life unnoticed, a familiar face maybe that people could never seem to vividly recall. Attention slid off her like water, leaving her alone with her thoughts and the quiet hum of the world. She lived in her daydreams.
Billy, in all his tight denim clad glory had interrupted her quiet world. Suddenly, she found herself, every Tuesday and Thursday evening after school, being the sole subject of Billy's undivided attention. Not the other girls that he would flock to hang around him in the cafeteria, or the girls he would flirt with in the hallways and not even the cheerleaders who would cheer for him during basketball, but her. And she thrived off it.
âEarth to you angel, hello? Hell Iâve lost you againâ she heard Billyâs once distant voice zone in again on her hearing, snapping her out of her head. God, she was daydreaming. Again. Flustered, she visibly shook her head in an effort to focus again, her soft curls swaying gently. Billy watched, his tongue poking his cheek as an amused look spread across his face at the fact he had caught her in another daydream. She seemed frustrated but he thought it was sweet. She fussed through the open book in front of her, âIâm sorry Billy letâs-letâs go over these equations again I wonât get distract-â
âHey Billy,â came the sound of a voice. A voice laced in honey, toned at a higher pitch. She looked up towards the flirty voice, catching sight of Jessica and Katie behind Billy in their cheerleader outfits. She averted her gaze back down towards the equations in front of her, disappointed that her time with Billy was being interrupted.
Billy turned his large body around in the seat, his strong legs still spread wide, as he threw an arm behind the back of the chair. His demeanor oozed confidence and masculinity. Tipping his head up in acknowledgment of the two girls, they flashed him a wide smile. âWhatâs up girls?â he asked confidently, still chewing on his gum. âWe were just wondering what you were doing here, didnât think weâd find you in the library,â they giggled. Behind him, she shrunk in on herself, her shoulders dropping. She was used to this. Used to people having conversations in front of her as if she didnât exist.
He smirked, running a hand through his perfectly messy curly hair, his bicep bulging as he did so. She noticed the girls glance towards it, âNah, I just got this tutoring thing,â
Ouch. Her heart sank inside. âTutoring thingâ he had called it. The words he had slipped out so easily buried themselves in the corners of insecurity that had been carved out deeply in her mind. Of course thatâs all that she was to him. She wasnât like the other girls Billy had been with. She had knew that harbouring a crush on Billy Hargrove would never be reciprocal. He was flirty and charming with everyone, she wasnât special.
âAnd are you going to Tinaâs party tomorrow night?â Katie asked curiously, biting her lip in anticipation of Billyâs answer. He stared at her lip momentarily, the action flashing his mind back to her little habit of doing so. He gazed back up to her eyes, expression neutral, âYeah Iâll be there.â The cheerleaders grinned, clearly happy with his answer. âGreat! Weâll see you then, donât be late Hargrove, oh and enjoy tutoring,â they joked, turning to walk away. Billy stayed facing them, eyes watching as they walked away.
Turning back around in his seat, he found her twirling a pencil in her hands, her pretty eyes staring at it as though it was the most interesting thing in the world. He reached out gently, his calloused hand touching her soft one. She flinched at the contact, ignoring how warm his hand had felt. âSorry bout' that sweetheart,â he spoke, her gaze finding his. Billy took in her doe eyes, staring at him through her long eyelashes. Hell, she was pretty. âYou going to this party tomorrow night?â He asked as he leaned in again, taking up his place in her personal space as he had done before.
âMe.. the party? Oh I uhm⌠I didnât get an invite..â she looked down, looking small. Her body language less relaxed than it had been at the beginning of their tutoring session. Billy raised a brow, leaning back in his chair, crossing his arms across his chest, âWell thatâs easy, Iâm inviting you now,â he stated matter of factly. She tilted her head, eyebrows drawn together displaying her confused expression, âBut.. but itâs not your party?â He laughed, dropping his head to hide his amusement, âTrust me sweetheart, that donât matter.â
âOh.. but I uhm.. I donât have anything to wear and .. Iâm not good in big crowds,â she muttered, avoiding Billyâs intense gaze. He took a second to observe her from where he sat. His eyes wondering over her. She was wearing light blue denim jeans and a pink sweater with tiny floral patterns dotted across it. Her long hair was curled loosley, a pink ribbon holding a section of it back, allowing for her delicate and beautiful features to be on display. He thought she was the cutest thing ever.
Leaning across the table, this time closer than before, his knee bumping gently against hers under the old wooden desk,âI think youâd look great in anything you wear sweetheart.â Her breath caught at his words. The hairs on her arms standing up. Did Billy really mean that?
She gave him a shy smile, âtha-thanks Billy, thatâs really sweet of you.â Shaking his head, he held her eye contact, âNah, Iâm just telling the truth sweets. Also, why donât you meet me at the front door or the house at 8, yeah? Iâll wait there for ya, walk you in so you donât have to deal with the crowds.â
Her eyes widened. Billy had made his suggestion so casually, as if it wasnât the kindest thing someone had offered to do for her in ⌠well, forever. She longed to socialise amongst her peers, she just found it difficult to do so in the situations that socialising occurred. The fact that Billy had offered to do something so simple just to help include her melted her heart. âYou⌠you would do that? For me?â She stuttered, her hand reaching up to rest on her chest. Billy shrugged nonchalantly, âSure angel, course I would do it for you.â
The butterflies in her stomach erupted. She bit down on her lip, unaware of Billyâs gaze yet again travelling to the spot. She smiled, a genuinely happy smile towards him, âThank you Billy that means so much to me.â He shook his head, standing up to his full height from the desk, âItâs no problem sweetheart honestly, câmon letâs get you home. Iâll grab all this shitâ He motioned with his head towards the exit, bending down to gather her books in his arms and making his way out, glancing back to make sure she was following him. She was.
He knew she always followed him.
âŚ..
Her fingers ghosted along the clothes lining her closet, eyebrows kitted together in a quiet concentration. She stared helplessly at the denim jeans, sweaters, and dresses that lay before her, staring so intensely as if it would cause something perfect to wear to manifest right before her. The pressure of agreeing to attend Tina's party, her first ever party, was beginning to weigh upon her shoulders. She was eager to dress nice, to look pretty.
For Billy.
His earlier words had been playing on her mind as she searched for an outfit. Her inner thoughts constantly questioning whether Billy would like it every time her hand landed on an article of clothing.
Twisting her lips in thought, she reached for a hanger she had not reached for before. Pulling it out, the dark blue denim skirt that she had bought a few months back came in to view. She stared at it, the memory of why she had bought it flooding her mind. It was a simple skirt, yet it was something entirely out of her comfort zone. She had tried it on at the mall and, in what she would now call a moment of madness, had felt pretty in it, so she promised herself that she would find an occasion to wear it. Her promise fell slack, however, as she hid it in her wardrobe the minute she returned home and came back to her senses.
Would Billy like this? She wasn't entirely sure if he truly meant what he had said in the library. He was more likely just flirting with her in an effort to disrupt their tutoring session and avoid studying. Yet, despite this, she found herself clinging on to the hope that he had meant it. The thought that Billy would like whatever she chose to wear wrapped around her like a comforting blanket, providing her with the confidence to wear what she liked.
....
The lawn that stretched out from the house was lively and crowded, the porch lights casting a soft yellow glow, illuminating the red solo cups scattered along the grass. Music spilled out from the house, it's loud and bass-heavy sound echoing to the outside. She stood near the front door, anxiously glancing at the wrist watch she wore. It was 8:15pm. Billy was nowhere to be seen.
She swallowed nervously, fidgeting with her hands as she took in her surroundings, her sharp eyes looking out for any sign of Billy. Standing there, alone, she felt terribly out of place. The insecure feelings that she simply didn't belong here were weighing heavy on her mind. Bodies moved past her, carelessly bumping in to her as they swayed, their movements tainted from the alcohol. Glancing at her watch again, she saw it was 8.20pm. She needed to find Billy.
"Hey," she called out to the girl leaning against the porch, a cigarette burning between her fingers. "Do you know if Billy is here?" she asked politely. The girl blew the smoke from her cigarette out, turning to face her, "Yeah he's here alright, why you need him or what?" She nodded gently, "He uhm.. he promised me he would meet me here at 8 and he's.. well he's not here, " she laughed nervously, 'do you know where I could find him?" The girl laughed, shaking her head in amusement and stumping her cigarette out, 'Oh hon, that was your first mistake. Billy Hargrove don't keep no promises. He promised me he'd call me back weeks ago, still haven't heard back from him, " she rolled her eyes towards her, "As for where he is? I don't know girl, he's probably in there somewhere doing God knows what."
Her shoulders dropped as she listened to the girl speak, a frown forming on her face, "Oh ok.. thank you I guess." The girl gave her a salute before walking off, disappearing in to the crowd. She sighed deeply, the realisation dawning on her that if she wanted to be with Billy, then she was going to have to find him herself.
âŚ.
Wading through the sea of people packed into the house, she made her way through, muttering apologies to the people she accidentally bumped in to on her journey there. Reaching the kitchen, the strong scent of alcohol hit her, her nose scrunching up slightly in dislike of the smell invading her senses. Hopeful eyes scanning the room as she hesitantly moved further in, she wished to catch a glimpse of Billy. Maybe he was here, getting a drink?
A large body bumped into her, causing her to stumble slightly. It was a boy she recognised from her biology class. His large hand roughly grabbed a red cup, dunking it carelessly into a bowl of punch, recklessly spilling some on the counter top. Her eyes followed his movements as he downed the drink. He caught her eyes, âYou want some or wha?â he slurred. Her eyes widened, âMe? Oh no no⌠Iâm uh Iâm ok. What is it?â she couldnât help but ask, her curiosity taking over. He wiped his mouth free of the drink, turning to face her, âfuel, PURE FUELââ he exclaimed loudly, startling her. She took a step backwards, retreating away. Where was Billy?
Suddenly, she heard the chanting of numbers coming from somewhere in the house. Before her brain could catch up, her feet were carrying her in the direction of the commotion.
âŚ.
She followed the sound, reaching the living room, standing on her tiptoes as she attempted to move through the crowd and see what they were so engrossed in. As she neared the front, the crowd chanted â42âbefore they erupted in to cheering. Her breath caught.
Oh.
There, in front of her, in all his glory, was Billy.
He was being let down from where his legs were being held up above a keg. The crowd around him cheered manically as someone handed him his lit cigarette, he took a deep drag of it before blowing the smoke upwards. He was shirtless, wearing only his leather jacket. The plains of muscle across his solid chest were on display, glistening slightly from the mixture of sweat and alcohol that had dripped downwards.
He was full of adrenaline as the crowd crowned him the newest âKeg King,â parading through the mass of people as though he owned the place, his presence dominating the room. Her eyes followed him as he moved, she was focused only on Billy.
âŚ.
As he moved through the crowd, cigarette hanging from his mouth, the muffled sound of rock music vibrating in the background, his dark eyes scanned the room. It was then he caught her eyes. He stumped his cigarette out and made a beeline towards her. His boots hitting the ground with a purposeful stride, his focus pointed solely towards her.
He stopped in front of her, taking a moment and drinking in her appearance. She wore a deep blue denim skirt, her legs on display in such a way that made Billy lick his lips. He had only ever seen her in jeans, seeing her beautiful legs felt forbidden and he loved it. On top she wore a pretty white top dotted with little blue flowers, a delicate lace trim lining the low neckline. Her socks had a frilly rim and she wore white Converse. He dragged his gaze back up from her outfit to her eyes, finding them wide and doe eyed.
âShit sweetheart, I told you youâd look good in anything you wore,â he spoke, a grin spreading across his features. She blushed that delicious blush he adored so much, her head dropping down as she gave him a shy smile, âThanks Billy, Iâm.. Iâm glad you like it.â He raised an eyebrow, leaning in closer he brushed her hair behind her ear, âLike it? Sweetheart, I love it.
She gasped, looking back up at him to find a genuine look in his eyes. She held his gaze for a moment, âI was looking for you.â Billy poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue, that confident smirk on his face, âWere you now sweets?â She nodded, clearing her throat, âYeah, you promised you would uhm meet me at the door⌠at 8 but⌠you never came.â
At once, the smug smirk on Billyâs face dropped, he took in the frown on her face. âFuck sweetheart, shit,â he ran a hand through his hair, âI did promise you that. Fuck Iâm so sorry angel I swear I didnât mean to leave you out there like that.â She shrugged her shoulders, a sad smile playing on her face, âItâs ok Billy, I get it. Iâm not the most exciting thing to remember,â she tried to laugh.
Billy drew his eyebrows together, confusion and frustration working on his features,âNah sweetheart itâs not ok. I was a real ass to leave you after promising you. Let me make it up to you. Iâll make you a promise Iâll have no problem keeping trust me.â
She was curious to hear what he had to say, âuhm ok, sure.â Billy grinned, bending down to lean in to her ear again, her perfume wrapping around his senses, âI promise to take you out, just the two of us.â His voice was smooth and her heartbeat picked up, âLike.. like a date?â She asked, her voice laced with disbelief. Billy nodded, âYeah angel, like a date.â
She gasped slightly. The girlâs words from earlier ran through her head, âBilly Hargrove doesnât keep promises.â
Looking at Billy, a smile playing on his handsome face, she found herself frantically nodding her head, despite the girls words. She liked Billy. She wanted to spend more time with him and he wanted to spend time with her. She bit her lip, attempting to stop the smile from spreading so wide across her face, but she failed.
Billyâs dark eyes traced her teeth biting down on her tempting lips, âItâs a date then sweetheart. You gotta stop biting that lip too, itâs too damn distracting. You do that on our date and Iâm not going to make it five minutes without biting it for you.â
Her eyes widened at Billyâs bold comment, but a grin broke out on her face, betraying her attempt of masking her excitement for Billyâs promiseâŚ.

Pairing : Mechanic! Daryl Dixon x Farmerâs daughter! Reader
Summary: She had a deep infatuation with Daryl Dixon, the rough around the edges mechanic in town. She spends her time watching him and admiring him from afar, until a situation occurs and she ends up needing his help. Little did she know, Daryl knew she watched him.
Warnings: MDNI as there is an age gap! Reader is I would imagine between 18 and 20. There is also mild language used.Reader is shy and introverted (sheâs just like me). I donât think there is anything else!
Authors notes: This is slightly inspired by âCrushâ by Ethel CainâŚ. When I hear the lyrics âhe looks like he works with his hands and smells like Marlboro Redsâ my mind immediately thinks of Daryl Dixon⌠so my mind produced thisâŚ. I do not own any of the walking dead characters. Please enjoy! đ§¸

The Georgia sun beat down on her, kissing her skin and leaving it's mark in the freckles dusting her shoulders and the tan lines that disappeared under the delicate lace trim of her top. Her cowboy boot clad legs worked below her, pedaling her pink bicycle. The bicycle carried the quiet dignity of age and long use, having been her Mama's before it was hers. She cherished it, more than just a bicycle to her, it was her vessel for freedom from the farm. She was the farmer's daughter. Everyone in town knew her daddy, Hershel Greene.
As she cycled the short distance in to town, the bicycle rolled smoothly below her, and what little breeze there was fanned her face, delicately blowing the ribbon tied in her plaits. Her Daddy had finally bestowed his trust upon her to go in to town alone.
Usually, Jackson would chaperone her on her journeys in to the small town. Jackson Marshall was sweet. He had been helping Daddy on the farm since he was 15. He was cute when he was a boy, and now at 20, he was handsome. She guesses. Jackson was good. He went to church, was hard working, and respectful. He's exactly the type of boy Daddy would approve of, if she was allowed a boyfriend. In a way, Jackson almost acted as if he was, for lack of a better word, her ''boyfriend.' He took the trust her father gave him as permission to do so. She liked Jackson, but not like that. It was for that reason she was glad to finally be free of the shackles of a chaperone.
The town sat low beneath the Southern sky, its streets drowsy in the afternoon heat. Red brick shops with rustic metal signs swinging lined the sidewalks, faded by countless years of footsteps. The courthouse clock had been keeping the same time for as long as she could remember. Climbing off her bike, cowboy boots planting on the ground, she leaned her bike gently against the brick wall of the local pharmacy, fixing the cross necklace resting on her chest, a gift from her Mama. She made her way in to the store, the familiar sound of the bell chiming signalling her entrance. She had come to town for three things. The first of which she would find in here.
She weaved through the aisles, her dainty hands topped with chipped pink nail polish trailed along the shelves. Turning the corner, she found the aisle she was looking for, the âBeautyâ aisle. Smiling to herself, she got down on her honkers, her knees cracking gently as she did so, and reached towards the nail polish. âGot you,â she thought to herself. Finally, she wouldnât have to wear the bright pink polish she found in a forgotten drawer back at home. Her fingertips would be graced with her signature pearly pink polish. She paid for the polish, giving her greetings and love to the elderly couple who owned the store. She graced them with a smile, leaving with the intent of completing her next item.
Stepping in to the diner, the bell jingling as she entered, the smell of coffee and something sweet engulfed her senses. The old jukebox in the corner played a country song that reminded her of watching her Daddy and Mama dance on the wooden floors of their farmhouse kitchen. The music blended in with the sound of cutlery clanging on plates, and the humming of chatter amongst folks in town. She made a bee line for the high stools by the window, climbing up on to her favourite one. The cold leather of the seat hit her bare legs, and her cowboy boots dangled beneath her. She didnât need to order. Mrs. Finch knew exactly what to bring her. It was the second thing she had come to town for.
The milkshake sat in a tall glass on the marked wooden table in front of her. Thick enough that it barely moved through the pink and white straw, marked now with traces of her lipgloss. It was crowned with a swirl of whipped cream, and upon it sat a bright red cherry. She took a sip of it, the rich and strong flavours of vanilla melting against her tastebuds, as she glanced out of the window, across the street, to the motorcycle garage directly opposite the diner. From here, she had the perfect view of the third thing she had cycled in to town for.
Daryl Dixon.
Daryl Dixon, the man who filled her dreams, her imagination, and her journal. Daryl was everything that Jackson and the other men in her life werenât. He was rough around the edges and had an air of trouble to him that excited her to no end and helped fuel her obsession with him.
He looked like he worked with his strong hands and smelled like Marlboro Red.
What started as a little crush had now turned in to an intense infatuation with the man. One that found her cycling to town to admire him from afar before her brain had even caught up to what she was doing.
âŚ..
The air inside the motorcycle repair garage was thick with the scent of oil and metal, yet there was something tender beneath it, the scent of old leather, dust, and time. Motorcycles sat around the garage, their chrome catching the light. The afternoon sun shone in through the open double doors, the garage spilling out on to the sidewalk. Daryl stood up straight from where he was lying on his side, grabbing an old rag from the leather seat of the bike he was working on and carelessly cleaning his rough hands off the grease that had accumulated on them. He threw the rag on the work work bench behind him and raised his arm, using his forearm to wipe the sweat that had gathered off his forehead, his bicep bulging as he did so. He squinted against the sun, reaching a hand into his dust covered jeans and pulled out a pack of near empty Marlboro Reds.
Stood in a wide stance, he lit the cigarette. Bringing it to his lips, he took a drag whilst running his free hand through his long and disheveled hair. From here, he could see her. The farmer, Hershelâs, girl. Heâd noticed her often now. She must have thought she was smart with her watching, but Daryl noticed. Of course he did. One didnât grow up with the childhood Daryl had and not develop a strong sense of your surroundings. He picked up on everything, from the deer markings he tracked when hunting, to pretty girls who were far too good to be paying so much attention to him.
He huffed out a laugh, blowing out the smoke from his cigarette. God, she was obvious. She used to come to town with a young man. Daryl didnât know his name, but he looked like the type of man that would belong with her. Short neat hair and that all American smile that would make anyoneâs Ma and Pa trust them with their daughterâs life. When she was with him, she seemed always to ensure they walked past the diner, where Daryl always caught her glancing in towards him.
Recently, though, she came alone. On that old pink bike that looked like itâd time travelled from a different decade. And sheâd gotten braver with her tactics. Now, she sat directly across the road, in the diner, on the same old stool by the window. A milkshake sat in front of her with her lips around the straw. The entire time, she stared across longingly.
If it was him she was going out of her way to watch, then she hadnât a damn notion what the hell was good for her. It certainly wasnât him. Daryl Dixon had a rough past, one that made him the exact opposite of what a beautiful, young and naive woman should be seeking out. âBet her Daddy would have a fit if he knew she were coming all the way out here to watch me,â he thought to himself. Hershel Greene would not be pleased with someone like Daryl being around his youngest daughter. Not one bit.
âŚ.
She had been there for about half an hour. Her milkshake long since finished. The entire time she stared out across the road, watching Daryl as he worked upon a sleek black bike. She dared to imagine how it would feel to be on the back of that bike, her arms wrapped around Darylâs waist and her cheek resting on his leather vest adorned with angel wings she had saw him wear so often. His strong arms clasping the handlebars as they rode freely on the road. Sheâd give anything to experience such a thing.
On her exit from the diner, the nostalgic sound of the bell jingled again. She made her way towards her bike, now leaning in a different section of the wall than where she had left it. She approached cautiously, eyebrows drawn together in confusion as to why her bike was moved. âHow odd,â she thought to herself. She shrugged her shoulders and grabbed the handlebars anyways. Upon going to cycle off, she noticed her bike failed to move. She tried again, yet to no avail. Huffing, she clambered off the bike, kneeling down on the pavement to get a closer look at what the issue could be.
âŚ.
From the other side of the road, Daryl watched as the young woman got down on to the pavement to inspect her bike. He raised a questioning brow, but turned back to the bike he was working on. As he twisted the wrench with the precision of someone who knew exactly what he was doing, he couldnât help but take a glance to the side again to where the girl was. She was back on the bike now, trying and failing to move off. He sighed, âHell.â He grabbed his leather vest, throwing it on, discarding his work and making his way across the road.
âŚ.
She was down on the pavement again, looking in vain for a problem that could be preventing her bike from working. Suddenly, a large shadow loomed over her. Gently, she turned her head, squinting her eyes against the harsh sun. Her breath caught. Daryl Dixon. In all his leather clad glory.
He cleared his throat. She swallowed. âUhm. You need a hand there?â She gazed up at him, starry eyed almost. It was then she realised she was still on the pavement. Her eyes went wide momentarily, before she jumped up, stumbling slightly, and dusted her knees. âOh.. hi.. Uhm yes I do.. I think. My bike wonât moveâŚâ she said looking down. She had never gotten close enough to Daryl to see him this clearly. God, he was handsome. She couldnât think straight, nevermind look him in the eye and hold a conversation.
He studied her for a moment, taking in the freckles that danced across her cheekbones, the ribbons in her hair, and the chipped nail polish on the finger nails of the hands she was currently fidgeting with. âI could take a look at it for ya, I work just over there in the garage,â he motioned with his head. Of course, he knew that she already knew this. She followed the motion of his head and slowly nodded, âoh.. ok cool.. thank you.â She blushed. She was pretty when she blushed.
Daryl stared at her for another moment, before wordlessly taking the bike by the handles and signalling for her to follow him across to the garage. Behind him, she followed like a lost puppy, trailing after him with her eyes focused anywhere but on Daryl. He smirked to himself, she was only brave when she watched him from afar, clearly.
âThis is an old bike sweetheart, whereâd ya get something like this?â He asked. The pet name had slipped out of his mouth, but from the blush that spread across her cheeks, he decided heâd stick with it. âOh it was .. it was my Mamaâs when she was my age. She-she gave it me when I was a kid and I love it too much to give up.â Had she rambled? She wasnât sure. Daryl nodded his head, an unreadable expression upon his handsome face. âWell if ya love it so much, Iâll make sure I fix it up for yaâ he winked.
She swore her heart stopped right there. She had been flustered since his shadow invaded her space, but now, between the pet name, that heavenly wink, and the smell of his cologne mixed with sweat giving him a manly scent, she was sure she would stop breathing altogether. She could only muster up a smile in response.
Daryl got down on his honkers. Upon one glance at the bike, he was able to conclude that the issue was the chain. It had fallen off. âSâjust the chain sweetheart, easy fix.â She has been gazing around the garage, taking in the various bikes scattered around. She eyed a packet of Marlboro Reds hanging out of the back pocket of Darylâs jeans. She was right. His voice brought her back from her head, âOh really? Thatâs great.. thank you.â He glanced at her only.
In a matter of minutes, Daryl had re-attached the chain on the old bike. He stood back up straight, noticing the height difference between the two. âItâs done, you should be able to get back now,â he said, scratching the back of his head. She noticed how his biceps bulged as he did so, having to force herself to avert her eyes. Daryl noticed. âThatâs great!â she exclaimed excitedly. âOh I mean.. thank you, I really appreciate it so mu.. wait! I donât have any money left to pay you,â he watched her shoulders drop and the smile on her pretty face fade. âI only brought enough to get the things I neededâŚâ she frowned, looking down.
âWoah woah, sweetheart itâs alright. You donât need to pay, I, uh I just wanted to help. Couldnât just leave ya there could I?â He tried to bring her mood back up, realising he missed the smile on your face. âAre, are you sure?â she questioned shyly. He studied her again, taking in the way she could look anywhere but in his eyes. He smirked to himself, folding his arms, âIâm sure.â
Daryl handed the bike back to her, their fingers brushing during the exchange, igniting butterflies in her stomach and lighting a spark on Darylâs skin that he didnât want to admit to. She clasped the handlebars tightly, trying to find something to ground herself as she made her way towards the exit of the garage. She stopped at the open doors, âbye, uhm thanks again!â Daryl nodded in response and raised a hand, she smiled, looking down and taking that as her sign to head on.
Daryl was looking down, wiping his wrench, âOh and sweetheart, next time youâre watching me from the diner, pick a different seat. Canât see ya as clearly when you sit there.â
She turned her head, her eyes wide, but Daryl must have walked off. The realisation that heâd known she had been watching him all along settled in. Maybe she wasnât as subtle about her crush on Daryl Dixon as the thought she was.

Billy's blue Camaro rumbled as the bass-heavy roar of the engine came to rest as he parked alongside the kerb outside your house, the metal vibrating with restrained power. The 'California' metal stamped license plate glinting in the sun stood out, and as did the boy in the car, suggested a hint of difference, danger almost, and exotic nature that disrupted the boring and mundane life in Hawkins.
He took a glance around the neighbourhood, realising again that it was so pristine, so polished and so perfect. Just like you. His aggressive muscle car certainly looked out of place in this quiet suburban area. It was the perfect symbolism for how out of place he probably looked beside you.
You and Billy had been officially together for just around a month. He was your first boyfriend, and for Billy, you were basically his first proper girlfriend because he doesn't do relationships. He was certainly more of a 'no strings attached' type of guy, and usually, the girls he got with only wanted that too. That was, until you.
You were different. You were too sweet and kind, and actually seemed to enjoy talking to him and spending time with him for who he was. Other girls weren't like that. They weren't interested in getting to know him past what he could give to them, which was fine as he didn't realise he even wanted more than that. He knows he didn't deserve you, you were too sweet, he would corrupt you. But hell, he was selfish, always had been, and he knew as soon as he met you that you had to be his.
So that's why he finds himself sitting outside your house early on a Saturday morning before his shift at the pool waiting to take you to the library. You volunteered there on Saturdays to help younger kids with their homework and tutor them for their tests. See, too sweet.
He takes a final drag of his cigarette, before stumping it out, knowing you'll be out soon and knowing that you hate when he smokes. 'It's bad for you!' your concerned words echo in his head. It's been a long time since someone had cared about his wellbeing, but you of course did.
The sound of your front door opening has him turning his head, quickly glancing at the clock reading â9:35 am.â You were right on time, always a creature of habit he thought to himself. He opened his car door, boot dusted with old mud planted firmly on the ground as he climbed out. Billy leaned against the car, strong arms folded over each other as he smirked watching your approach.
You were wearing a white cotton top, a delicate little thing with pink lace trimming at the top and pretty little pink flowers on the fabric. Your sun kissed legs were clad with blue denim shorts, and whilst you usually were more inclined to cover up, it was summer after all. Your hair was down, with those pretty pink clips Billy loved so much clipping your bangs back in a twist. You carried three text books in front of your chest and a pink bag on your shoulder, which probably contained matching stationary and treats for the kids for doing their homework. God, you were beautiful. Billy was obsessed.
âHey sweetheart,â Billy said, smiling that smile he only did for his girl. You glanced at him, a shy smile growing on your face as you took him in, in all his denim clad glory and replied, âHi Billy.â He smirked, youâd stopped in front of him now. âYouâre lookinâ real pretty today, you know that?â He saw your cheeks turning pink, eyes growing a little wider as you looked down. He loved the effect he had on you. âOh th-thanks Billy, uhm you look pretty too.â Billy raised an eyebrow at you and smirked that heavenly smirk that would make any woman weak before replying,âPretty? I ainât ever been called pretty before princess, thanksâ You looked at him, panicked, âNo, no I meant .. handsome. You look handsome.â You drummed your fingers on the textbooks you held, which he knew you did when you felt flustered. He would have felt bad for messing with you if he didnât love your reaction to him so much. See, selfish.
He laughed, extending his arms out in front of you. You handed your text books and bag over to him, knowing that thatâs what he wanted. Billy was ever the gentleman to you. You thought he was the sweetest. As he made his way to the boot of his car, which you secretly loved, to deposit your things, you fidgeted with your hands, unsure of what to do with them now that they were empty. âCome on,â he said, motioning with his head towards the passenger side door, and snapping you out of your daze.
You followed him over there, sliding in to the seat as he held the door open for you. You placed your hands in your lap and looked up to him, eyelashes fluttering slightly. Billy braced one hand on the roof above your side, the other planted on the car door as he leaned in, close enough for you to smell his cologne. God, he looked and smelled divine. Your breath caught. âPut your seatbelt on, yeah?â he said. You nodded, probably too frantically for the simple question. He gave you a playful smile, âGood girl.â With that, he shut the car door, confidently striding over to the drivers side, and leaving you flustered. Again.
Billy put his key in the ignition, the Camaro roared to life, a thunder like noise rolling from its exhaust. You jumped slightly, you always did. Billy glanced at you, eyebrow raised with a laugh and said âYou still scared of my car sweetheart?â You pouted as he pulled away from the kerb, starting on your drive to the library. âNo.. itâs just startling sometimes.. thatâs all.â Billy flashed a knowing smile. He knew you actually loved his car, you just wouldnât admit it.
After you finally warmed up to him, as Billy still made you nervous and sparked butterflies in your tummy, your rambles about your morning planned at the library filled the car. âLittle Eric is so cute! And he done SO much better with his maths questions last week so I know heâll be even better this week! I think heâs finally getting the hang of it!â Billy smiled, pride filling his body for you. âThatâs amazing angel, thatâs cause he got the best teacher. Hell, if I had you tutoring me I bet Iâd be top of the class too or suhinââ you giggled at him, âthanks Billy, but youâre smart too, you can do that by yourself!â He playfully rolled his eyes, glancing your direction âYeah, yeah princess whatever you say.â
The rest of the drive to the library was in a comfortable silence. Billy had learned that you werenât one to say much unless you had something you wanted to say. You spent the time with a small smile on your face, glancing out at the surroundings around you as your fingers tapped your leg unknowingly in time to the low rhythm of Billyâs music. He loved that you loved his music, but he kept it turned down when you were in his car with him, too afraid to frighten you.
Billy pulled up on the kerb outside of the Hawkinâs town library. He saw a few kids walking in, backpacks too big for them hung on their back. Your kids, no doubt. âThanks for the ride Billy,â you smiled at him, hands still sitting in your lap, fidgeting less now. âNot a problem sweetheart, anytime. Letâs get your stuff,â he spoke, nodding his head in the direction of the boot.
You both climbed out, reaching the boot as you stood beside him waiting for him to retrieve your books and bag. He was so much taller than you. âHere you go angel, have a good morning yeah?â You looked down smiling, âI will, Billy, thanks again.â He laughed, âIâve told you before, itâs my pleasure sweetheart.â You stared, starry eyed at his cocky grin. You got a rush of confidence and, standing up on your tiptoes, your hand resting gently on his strong chest, kissed his cheek. Up so close he smelled like cigarette smoke and cologne. A delicious mix that made you melt. âIâll see you later Billy, bye!â You muttered, spinning on your feet and rushing up the library steps.
Now, Billy had done a lot more than have a girl kiss just his cheek. Yet that, was the sweetest thing heâd ever experienced. He watched you as you ascended up the steps, arms folded over each other and eyes squinting slightly against the sunlight. He left his sunglasses in the car. Once you reached the top step, you turned around. You gave him a small wave and blew him a kiss. God, you were precious to him. He waved back, and once you disappeared through the library doors, he looked down, shaking his head and laughing to himself. When did he get so soft for you?
Once he was back inside the Camaro, Billy manually adjusted the wing mirror on the passenger side so that it provided a better view of the road. You hadnât realised it, but when you were in his car, he adjusted it so it faced you, letting him see your pretty face every-time he glanced in the mirror. He just couldnât get enough of you.
