Donnie hummed a small tune softly to himself as be prepared the pot of tea. He even managed to find Benzedrine's old, but favorite tea mug and he smiled to himself.

When everything was prepared he carried the tea tray out to the living room where Benzedrine sat, staring at his decor; he stood out like a single sunflower in a large grassy field.

"Sorry for taking so long," Donnie apologized and placed the tray on the table, "It's nice to have you here again," he added with a smile.

The corner of Donnie’s lips curled into a small smile, “He came to me in a dream as well,” he stated, “Then we had tea at my cottage the next day,” his eyes beamed, “it was just like old times.”

A thought suddenly occurred to him as he noticed Benzedrine frowning to himself. Donnie bit his lip as he thought hard of anything that could cheer his friend up.

“If you would like, you can come over as well and we could chat some more. Its a bit gloomy in here atbthe moment- don’t you think?”

“Yeah, that sounds good,” he said, casting a sideways look around before stepping away from the wall, peeling yellow paint. Nevermind the spiderwebs he may have accidentally put his hand through. “I kind of don’t wanna be here anymore for the moment. Maybe…maybe I’ll come back later, clean it up?”

Wait, so we’re moving back? No!

I hate the city apartment…

Yeah, yeah, cry me a river. I hate it back here, you never listen to me!

Maybe that’s the problem with the city.

“So, um…maybe you could lead the way? I don’t remember all of it…”

“Well if you need any help with the cleaning, I’ll be more than happy to assist you,” Donnie assured him, “Maybe Sandman can help out as well.”

Donnie walked towards the door with Benzedrine quietly in tow behind him. He only paused when the doctor spoke up.

“Of course! You just follow me and you’ll remember in no time,” he nodded with a smile, “It’s the most popular trail leading towards my cottage.”

He opened the door for Benzedrine and gently closed the front door behind them both.

“You ready to go?”

“Yeah, I think so,” he said, glancing at the front of the home one more time. It seemed like it was from so long ago, but it couldn’t have been that long…right? He figured so as he nodded to Donnie and shoved his hands in his pockets, ready for wherever this walk would take them. It…wouldn’t be too far away, right? How could it be?

Oh well. It wouldn’t exactly be a huge deal if he got some exercise.

Donnie saw the tired look on Benzedrine’s face and smiled shyly, “Dont worry, its not very far, just up the hill,” he walked by his friend’s side, “if you get tired just let me know,” he gave a gentle pat to Benze’s shoulder.

They both walked on through the tall trees, leaves crunching beneath their steps, as they enjoyed the peace. After a few moments, Donnie decided he should say something to avoid any awkward silence.

“So where did you go, if I may ask? I heard it was an apartment of some kind?”

Benzedrine nodded as they walked, hands in his pockets. He glanced at Donnie when he asked the questions, rubbing the back of his neck to think. “Yeah, it’s an apartment, kinda in the city,” he said softly, shrugging before returning his hands to his pockets. “I painted the walls yellow and everything, I really like it, there’s just nobody there.”

It was kind of depressing to think about the more he thought of it.

“It’s kinda scary too, I guess,” he added on, “I mean, it’s the city, it’s big and kinda dirty and a little gross. But right now it’s home, I guess.”

That didn’t sound like a home to Donnie, not a good one at least, “I think, if I may be so bold, you’re supposed to feel safe in your home, not scared,” Donnie glanced at Benzedrine, “Am I right?”

The leaves on surrounding trees soon turned from a golden amber to a deep and calming green, a dirt trail appeared in to view leading up a short a hill.

“My house is just up ahead,” Donnie announced, “You’ll have to excuse the vines everywhere, I’m still in the process of pruning my garden.”

Benze didn’t reply to the first bit, but he nodded to the latter. “It’s fine, I don’t mind a mess.” Not that it was probably even a mess, from how he remembered Donnie, but it was almost sweeter in the air as they walked. Benzedrine found himself happier as they wandered down the road, though he couldn’t explain it. Maybe it just felt like a better place- not neglected or anything. It was just… it felt better. He felt happier here. Didn’t he already say that?

Oh well. It was what he felt.

As the two men reach a stepping stone path, Donnie’s house finally came in to view. 

As the approached a gate, engrossed with vines which twisted throughout the iron bars, the sweet smell from the menagerie of flowers filled the open air welcoming home Donnie and his yellow-clad guest.

As they entered, gardening tools were strewn about and pulled-weeds lay defeated upon the ground where they could harm the flora no more. Fresh dirt covered parts of the garden in an attempt to rejuvenate the garden back to it’s old ways.

“I... had a bit of reclusive episode when everyone left,” Donnie admitted shamefully, “My garden overgrew and so did the weeds,” he sighed, “But, I’m doing my best to get things back to the way they were.”

He unlocked the front door to his cottage and stood aside for Benzedrine to enter, “Come in, my friend. Make yourself at home.”

"no, no, dont let me hold you up from-... whatever it is you do" he gave him a sickly grin "ill be seeing you /very/ soon" and with that, he turned to leave

"Ah right, um... take care." He watched the strange man leave out of sight; Donnie stood in his spot for a few moments after, puzzled by what had just happened."We... sure do get some odd people here, dont we?" He said to no one in particular. And with that he disappeared in a cloud of smoke, back to he comfort of his own home.

he breathed in deeply through his nose "t'was nothing more than a meer jester, donovan, dont worry" he finalised with a wink

Donnie still took a step back anyway, with a forced smile, "Aah right. S-sorry. I'm not very good with jokes," he laughed nervously, plating with the hem of his shirt. "I suppose I'll stay a bit longer..."

"dreams dont exist" he scoffed "like dinosaurs or nose bleeds" he laughed, rolling his eyes. god. maybe he should stop talking to donnie... "how stupid do you think i am, donovan?"

Donnie was taken aback, "S-stupid? I never meant anything by that," he felt incredibly guilty now, "I mean if you dont believe in that sort of thing its okay I suppose..." he forced a smile, "I just- well... Go visit him anyway if you want." Donnie began to back away slowly, "I-I think I should get going."

he gasped, leaning forwards "theres a song about mr sandman, bringing dreams and all that" he chirped almost happily for the first time in this conversation

Donnie had to hold back a sigh- this time of relief, "Yes the very one. He creates dreams in his own home and delivers them to all the residents of Hollywood land."If you ever want to visit him, he lives past the old cememtary, where the forest turns bleak and gray.
