"Paper Beats Rock" Paper beats rock, That’s something everybody knows But paper flies away If the slightest wind blows. And paper gets torn and paper gets ripped, and paper gets written on and easily split. So how come something strong can get beat by something weak? Why would tough, ol’ rock be so quick to admit defeat? "Umbrella Faces" They slip and scuttle and skate along in cautious, wet footsteps through the slush. Umbrella faces braced against the wind, blocking their view of each other too. Every so often, a pop of color: cotton candy pink, a purple, a red, but for the most part—black or blue. Their breath rises over the edges in silky steam like engines of trains pushing through rain destined for subways, bus stops, and alleyways home.
