Dad, thoughts on Valerie thinking she's less of a wizard than your family?

Justin: Well...the short answer is that it hurts. The long answer is that it's my fault, for not being able to protect her from those who picked on her because of her "monstrous"...from those who stole her magic when she was just a kid.

She'll always be a Russo, wizard or not. But considering what happened, I understand why she feels out of place among us...and there's nothing I can do to change what happened. So I can't do much about it excelt be there for her and try to make ammends.

Valerie looked up, butterflies gathering in her chest. It's been so long since she'd seen Jocelyn...too long.

But instead of running to her, she listens to her explanation. Chuckling a bit at the mention of the freckle, the worries and paranoia that had been taking control of her soul start fading away.

Not all of them...but it's good to know that she was right to feel this way for the VK. That it wasn't a lie.

"I...I love you too, Jocelyn", she hesitates to say it out loud, but it comes from the heart.

She gasps, putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Jesse Black was why his daughter couldn't see anyone else this whole time. Oh, if only she'd finished what she started all those months ago...

"Jocelyn, I'm so sorry", the redhead wraps her arms around her girlfriend, sobbing. "I was such a fool, doubting you while you were being hurt...I wish I was there."

Valerie smiled back encouragingly, “Thanks.”

She went to another corner in the gym, where a dummy was set up and started unpacking her equipment. Making ammends with Elizabeth definitely helped her but she had a long way to go if she wanted to recover. Training has always been one of her favorite ways to blow off some steam, so it was a good step.

Better than to take it out on other people. Like Vlad.

She shook her head, trying to shake away the memory. 

“I’m Valerie Charming, nice to meet you,” she decided to focus on the other person. “So, what are you here for? Fencing? Gymnastics? A little bit of both and some others?”

“A little of everything if I can help it,” Hannah admits with a laugh before taking another swig of her water. “Hannah Stoppable. Believe me, the pleasure’s all mine.”

She notes her unpacking and setting up. “I’m guessing you’re on some teams here?”

Valerie nodded, impressed. “Wish I could say the same but I’m too attached to my sword”, she chuckled. “So what’s your motivation? Is it a family thing?”, the princess asked. The other’s last name sounded familiar but she couldn’t recall a lot of details about it.

“Yeah, fencing and tourney. Though I’d appreciate it if you didn’t mention it around my mother”, she added with a sly grin.
