I've heard of Identity - their agents actually reached out to sign me in their commercial division (only) but it was complicated at the time cause I was still in school on a student visa and you cant work in entertainment on a student visa. (so dumb)

Oh and what r exams like? If there are exams?

We were marked on our performances. So they were criteria that we had to meet regarding our character work etc and we were always marked on how well we performed. And then we were also marked based on our screen and audio work. And had to do 3 self reflection essays based on ourselves as professional actors. So our full grade was mainly based on those 3 areas.

But it may vary for each school!

Heyy I just wanted to ask what r some of ur fave moments from drama school n how does it feel to live out ur passion 😊 oh and how did u audition to get in like what monologues did u do etc?

Honestly it feels incredible ! I was brave enough to go into something so vulnerable without having any experience in acting before but it felt like it was meant to be! I’ve always loved the industry so it feels amazing to be apart of it now.

I think my favourite moments can be found in the rehearsal room, trying to unpack the script and work on a character with the director and my fellow friends/colleagues. So many challenging yet playful moments of being given a note from the director and seeing how you can mould the character to suit what they’re looking for but also suit what feels right for you is such a fun thing to discover. And then taking everything you’ve done in rehearsals to the stage and letting go and sharing the energy with the audience is a feeling that can’t be compared with anything else !

I’ve laughed, I’ve cried! It was a once in a lifetime experience for sure.

To get in, they asked for a classical monologue, a contemporary monologue and a choreographed piece of movement which they provided sound for. My classical piece was The princess from Loves labour lost by Shakespeare and my contemporary was Anna Petrovna - Wild Honey by Michael Frayn.

Are you considering Drama School? Lmk if you need any advice, tips etc!

What are some artists you’re fond of lately? I love Amaarae and Tems right now

I love both of them! It has been amazing to see Ama grow and Moliy is sooo good too. Tbh in the past few months i've felt very disconnected from music. I was in lockdown and the only thing i wanted to do was pole. I'm really loving the lojay and sarz EP, lots of afrobeat instrumentals with Portuguese influences like DJ Bboy (eg Pânico, Kuribotas) it kinda reminds me of Azonto. Its like Asokpor music - Jowaa, Gaffaci etc. Also really loving amapiano remixes that i'm finding on soundcloud. hmm yeah so that's it for me rn i'm all over the place when it comes to music

You are so young but already growing to be a free young woman with her own independent thoughts. Do you care about men repurposing your free spiritedness for their honey desires? Do you care?

uhm yes and no. I'm very torn between being open and free but then also not sharing because I'm not here to fulfil men and their silly little horny desires. ideally, if they're getting off to my videos or whatever i'd like to be paid at least lol. A lot of instagram polers feel this way because they are posting content that inevitably fulfils these desires even if it is not inherently sexual. But you can't decide how someone perceives your videos, there are polers who do more contemporary stuff or very sporty tricks even in sporty outfits but still get sexualized. Even olympic gymnasts are sexualized because of the nature of the sport/ leotards they wear but the show must go on hey? At the end of the day, pole doesn't have to be sexual. I don't really think about the men that perceive it, it's actually quite corny that they froth over the videos but what do you expect. I feel that in this situation, I am in a position of power. I am choosing to put it out there and so I do not care. Also, because i feel more immersed in the community now, I'm so desensitised to what it may look like to others on the outside because I've found a community of people that embrace it for what it is. Last year there was no way i could've seen myself posting videos in my underwear but now I just don't care. I'm so desensitised to the sexual aspect of it all because you start to learn that there are other aspects of pole dancing that tie it all together and make it more than just sexual eg toe point, head expression, arm expression, engagement of muscles as you move.... To me, it is art and just a type of dance and that's why I put it out there, if you choose to view it as purely sexual and objectify me then that is a reflection of you. Society has a lot of unpacking to do and I can't wait until everything has been sorted out before i start posting. I just gotta do what makes me happy. @sammypicone and @ebeb.spins are some of my biggest inspirations right now. Their movements are so seamless and expressive. They are just dancing but who tf knows which useless man is in the corner sitting there and objectifying them.
