Someday i could do a post of Everything I Dislike about the Cullen addiction plot line but im just gonna summarize it so i dont have to do it fully
they portray everyone as being positive about cullen, and people like cass and cole worrying about him, but if he keeps drinking lyrium he ends up alone in the streets with no help at all even when it has been stablished templars got a system to take care of the ones who have fulfilled their duty (wich cullen would be considering his role in the inquisition). so it feels mega forced in the narrative to make the player feel bad but also sends a terrible message of "if you dont stop taking drugs you will end up dying alone" wich is a terrible thing to say to addicts and doesnt help at all
they portray addiction like a modern view of drugs of "if you stop taking drugs = good. you'll be fine" instead of the in universe version that is years and years of propaganda by the chantry saying that if you stop taking lyrium you go crazy and die. this is a tiny bit touched upon (PC being able to say "this is killing you!! take it) but not taken really seriously or as something a first time player would know. There should be real doubts if this is gonna kill him or not.
there is also 0 talks of if stop taking lyrium would make him lose his templar powers or not, wich would had been very interesting cause indeed this makes him less powerful against mages and more vulnerable to them, wich is important in his whole plot
Taking lyrium or not taking it doesnt really have any real consequences for the inquisition. he can just have a very stresfull job where so many people depend on him and at the same type go cold turkey on drugs that literally give you fever and hallucinations and you don't have any problem in any battle or mission he participates him. You dont even get not being able to use him in war missions or any literaly problem to you.
all the time he takes about the addiction and how miserable he is for it takes away time for all the stuff he did in kirkwall wich is brushed over and firts time players wouldnt even know about it.
The 'hyperspecific situations' polls are really once again highlighting that native English speakers tend to forget that 'foreign' doesn't mean 'non-English' or 'non-American'
"Did you watch a foreign language movie in the past three days?" Yeah I watched the foreign movie "The Martian" with foreign actor Matt Damon
Op why would you hide this is the tags
[Image ID: Tumblr tag reading: 'Do you speak a foreign language?' Yeah yours /End ID]
just thinking it'd be fun as an in-game POV.
"Almalexia defies simple analysis. I doubt she could even describe herself accurately ..."
"To understand Almalexia, you must first understand the value of fiction. Vivec fancies himself the poet, but in truth, Ayem is the greater storyteller ..."
"As I said, we are, all of us, bound by our nature. Almalexia does what she does because she cannot do otherwise. It will not end well. But then, even the best endings rarely bring joy."
the best female characters are the ones that online discourse calls annoying and cannot stand. this is a fact sorry. the more hated she is by the online sphere the better her character is sorry
I’m pretty sure that as far as “infuriating helmets you’d hate to see before you get stabbed” go, this one is definitely up there
Up there, yes, but is it really quite all the way at the top?
why the fuck weren’t any of these in dark souls
It’s not any of these in particular but the Winged Knight helmet from Dark Souls 3 is pretty clearly based on grotesque helms

eeesh 😬 advice? i don't know lad, this is a little above my pay grade. i mean, a hydra? i really just fought humans most of the time. a river once i guess. but that was a fluke. what im saying is you're doing things i could have NEVER done at your age ❤️ which also means i have no idea what advice to give you. what's important is that i love and support you always and believe in you.
odysseus in hades 2:
yeah basically if you stay in the bottom left corner of the map you should be good, there's less environmental damage you can take there but obviously if you're worried abt it, just triggering all the traps at the start of the fight never hurts. your build looks fine, i know everyone hypes up divine dash but tbh i don't think you need it for every run, it just helps to have. once you memorize the attack patterns the fight isnt that bad, pretty easy compared to the late game. here, have 100 dollars
The two little cartographers, yo!!
[still] a sad scared girl dying in a plane k cool im trying to revive my tumblr once again [happens every spring ✌️] and i'm currently watching yellowjackets and so very not normal about them AND Nat's plot specifically <//з
inquisitor/vivienne dynamic if you took her to in hushed whispers makes me feel fucking crazyyy
what if you’d found the only way to survive in the circle & in orlesian politics was to appear invulnerable and invincible like nothing can touch you, so you are clinging to that even as the institutions you have gambled everything on crumble to ashes around you. in everyone else’s eyes you are ice you are steel you cannot be hurt. but somehow it never seems to work on the inquisitor who you now fight beside. they see something in you that they need to be gentle with and you don’t know how that can have happened, what you let slip. and eventually it turns out they know you can be hurt because, despite how hard you have worked never to show it, they actually already saw you at your very worst, sickly and dying and hopeless, in their trip to the Nightmare Timeline. and you’re momentarily just struck by the unfairness of this and possibly the poor discipline of your Nightmare Timeline self to have created this problem for you
Slay her.
