The Disappearance Of Twilight Sparkle:
1.1_ Introduction
synopsis:
oh no! Twillight is missing! she said that she went out only for a bit but that was 3 days ago and now, it's the day of the summer sun celebration! maybe she was at the town princess Celestia wrote in the letter. there is only one way to found out!
the story of the two sisters are well known throughout the land. once upon a time, there were two sisters, one had power over the sun while the other ruled over the moon and both rule over the land. the younger sister, jealous of the ponies of the land finding joy in her sister daytime, refused to lower the moon and transformed into a wicked mare. she fought her sister and in the end, the older sister prevailed. she sealed her rebellious sister in the moon and from then on, rule the land all on her own.
but it was said that in 1000 years, the younger sister will grain enough power to break the seal and wreak havoc once again.
for most ponies, this story stopped there but Celestia knew better. as she looked at the moon, the silhouette of her sister ever more clear, she could feel how her hand tremble and ached. the quill she was holding slipped from her grasp and now laid on the ground, leaving a trail of ink in its path. her time was running out.
the moonlight crept into her room and Celestia neatly fold the letter and with a wave of her hand, sent the letter away, to her student, Twilight Sparkle. Contained in the letter is the needed information and preparation for the following future.

"Twilight? are you there?"
the door to the observatory opened with a loud creak. Spike timidly stepped into the room and looked around. Every open books and papers were where they were three days ago. "Twilight?"
Spike hurriedly took out a piece of post-it note from his pocket. the paper was wrinkled and stained but the message written was still readable:
"Princess called. I'll be gone for a bit! - Twilight"
This wasn't like Twilight, she would have written the time more clearly, he thought. As she was studious and highly ambitious in the field of magic, she had a habit of isolating herself and very independent. Even so, she still had ponies in her corner, like Moon Dancer, a likeminded pony to Twilight who would help her with research and experimenting , Princess Celestia who would lend her advice when needed, and of course, Spike.
But she hasn't been well. Lately, she talked about something tugging at her mind. The feeling got worse by the days and even caused her to lose sleep over it. the research she did with Moon Dancer pointed to a possible lead being the legend of the mare in the moon. when they brought this to the princess, she dismissed it and advice them to research another lead, which Twilight never told him about like she promised. Spike would push her to talk about it but she always insisted she would talk about it later.
"i should have pushed more"
walking up the stairs and into her bedroom, Spike stood still before the perfectly made bed. nothing in the room had been moved. she hasn't been home for three days. struck with the sudden realization, Spike dashed out of the observatory and made his way to the throne room were the princess was.

the throne room was full of busy ponies, running in and out of the room. Ponies surrounded princess Celestia as she dealt with it all with a smile on her face. but the strained looks and dark circles under their eyes didn't go unnoticed. She was talking to advisors when they heard fast footsteps from outside. the guards quickly straightened and squared up, the princess stood tall, all waiting for guest.
"Princess Celestia! please help"
Seeing that is was Spike, everyone eased up, except for princess Celestia, who stood with her eyebrows raised high. "Spike? what's wrong? why aren't you with Twilight?"
"that's what i have come to you about, Twilight has been missing for three days!"
"how can that be? didn't she tell you about the letter?"
"no! she only left me this note." Spike ran up to the throne and stood as close as possible to the princess so he could pass her the note through the line of guards. She gently held the note and inspect the neat handwriting, she left out a soft sigh.
"3 days ago, i sent Twilight a letter, asking her to be the organizer for this year summer sun celebration at Ponyville, the town just below Canterlot. i thought she would have bring you with her." the princess explained "but it's clear she didn't."
"thank you, Your Highness. I'm going to find her this instant. " Spike was about to dash out of the room when the princess called out to him again.
"Spike! Take Moon Dancer with you. i believe she would be of help."
"I'll go get her now! Thank you again! sorry to have disturb you!". with a final goodbye, Spike quickly ran out of the room but not without closing the door on his way out. Seeing Spike being brighter than before, Celestia softly smiled.
"he is so much like her. Oh Twillight, i wish i could help you more. i hope that you are safe."

The air balloon descended slowly as the pair of pony and dragon look out at the land below. Spike's eyes were wide while Moon Dancer was apathetic as ever. in her hand was a colorful cone hat that she fidgeted with.
"i'm sorry to pull you away from your birthday party." Spike finally spoke when he noticed the hat.
"it's fine. Twilight's safety is more important any way." her voice was flat so Spike couldn't cipher if she was telling the truth. but he didn't ask further. "she didn't tell me anything either if that's what you were wondering."
other than Spike and princess Celestia, Moon Dancer was the closest pony who knew anything about what was happening with Twilight, being personally asked by Twilight to help her research the tugging. but lately they didn't make any progress.
"did she tell you about our research?"
"she promised to tell me about the new lead but she never did."
"Twilight!" Moon Dancer groaned. Hearing that he was about to be let in on the top secret, Spike turned his full attention to Moon Dancer. but was quickly disappointed when she countinued "i'm sorry, kid. i promised Twilight i won't tell without her permission. "
"oh come on. Please!" for this information, Spike would do anything. so he pulled out his ultimate weapon, the puppy eyes. He put on his attempt with big round eyes and high raised brows, the most pathetic look he could muster.
Moon Dancer cringed back and looked away "no really! we did a spell pact and everything! i really can't tell you, even if i wanted to!"
Spike let out a frustrated groan and deflated to the floor of the air balloon "why do no pony tell me anything! why can't she just tell me!"
"kid, you know how she is" Moon Dancer sat down next to him. "i'm sorry i can't tell you more."
"i hope Princess Celestia was right and that Twilight is safe."
"me too, kid. now come on, we're almost there."
