Margaux Hemingway in Lipstick (1976)

The film intended to launch the movie career of supermodel Margaux, but it did the exact opposite. She attracted the brunt of vicious critical attacks for starring in a film which centred around rape, misogyny and dark subject matter.

Margaux only made two more movies over the next seven years, became heavily involved with substance abuse, and the modelling industry shunned her because she gained weight.

She was found dead in her apartment at the age of 41, her death being ruled as a suicide. Her younger sister Mariel has always maintained that she was not suicidal, and attributes her death to drugs.
