In the After / MerDer
"Derek." Meredith narrowed her eyes. "Your ex wife is not looking at my vagina, nor delivering our baby. No way. I don’t care how good she is at her job." She said, with a tone of finality. "A minute at a time." She murmured. "I can do that."
Derek smirked to himself as he finished up the omelette. At least she was now talking about the birth, which was a small plus. "Fine," he said as he dished up the food and passed her a plate. "There you go," he smiled and passed her a fork, before moving to pour her a glass of orange juice, hoping she'd be able to keep her breakfast down. "So I had a dream about you last night," he revealed. "Not a nightmare."

"Okay." Meredith nodded. "I’ll speak to an OB today. Not Addison though." She added. Addison looking at her vagina was not something she wanted to suffer through. It was awkward enough working in the hospital with her. "Yeah we’re high risk." Meredith murmured, placing her hands on her stomach and looking down. "Which means the embryo’s probably going to evacuate itself anytime soon."
Derek poured the mixture into the frying pan when the oil had heated and began to cook the eggs. "She's the best. You should consider her," he commented, before turning back and raising his brows. "Take it a day at a time. A minute at a time, if that helps you. Right now you're pregnant. Just focus on that." Turning back to the pan he then added the ingredients.

She watched with a smile on her face, keeping out of the cooking. The last time she’d attempted cooking, she’d given Derek food poisoning and so she figured it was a lot safer to leave it all to him. He was good at it, and it was much better for the both of them that way. ”Thank you.” She laughed, “I…uh, no.” Meredith frowned thinking back. ”I didn’t. Should I arrange it for soon? You want to come right?”
After he'd chopped the washed vegetables he added a few eggs to a bowl with some milk and began to whisk. "Mhm, I do," he told her, his gaze lifting to find hers with a smile. It was his turn to be there for her, god knows she'd suffered through enough of his crap lately. With Natalie's presence in Seattle, and the misfortune she'd suffered, it had caused Derek's emotional state to spiral out of control for a while. The nightmares that had been plaguing him seemed to have eased, and he felt different, ever since Natalie had woken. "Make it for whenever you'd like, and I'll be there. The sooner the better though. They need to keep a close eye on you both."

Meredith rolled her eyes at him, giving him a look, before laughing a little and standing. She took his hand and walked to the kitchen, where she immediately sat down, leaning on her hand on the table and looking over at Derek, thinking hard. ”Mm, recently I’ve been wanting pretzels…oh…and chocolate ice cream. But that’s not really breakfast food.” She shrugged. ”Anything.”
Derek chuckled as he got things ready to cook with. A chopping board, frying pan, spinach, onion, tomato, cheese, carrots and broccoli with a few chopped bell peppers and rosemary. "Two omelettes coming up. And I'll get some pretzels and chocolate ice cream on my way back from my appointment with Bailey later," he told her as he began to chop up the ingredients finely. "So did you ever get around to making that OB appointment? Things got kind of...crazy."

Meredith leant forward taking a look at his scar, and nodded with a smile. The incision site looked clean and healthy, and it was definitely healing well, thankfully. She grinned and leant into him, closing her eyes momentarily in his embrace. “A little, but I can definitely try to keep something down.”
"Alright. Let's get in there before the entire hospital wakes up," he teased. Sometimes it seemed as though his roommates made up the entire residency programme at Seattle Grace Mercy West. He took back his arm and grabbed the pair of sweat pants he kept beside the sofa for when he woke, and shrugged them on quickly. He reached out to take her hand with a smile, and walked with her into the kitchen. "Anything you're craving?" he asked.
In the After / MerDer
“No swelling? And definitely no pain?” Meredith inquired, nodding. “Good, maybe no pain killers anymore then, not that I don’t love you on a drug induced high.” She teased gently. “I slept fine.” Meredith replied, nodding gently. She definitely found herself getting more tired, more easily now that she was pregnant. “Coffee? Breakfast?”
"Definitely none of either," he smiled and lifted his shirt a little with his free hand, and leaning forward so she could see for herself the healthy looking post op scar as he partially removed the dressing. At the mention of his drug induced high he rolled his eyes slightly and sat back. "I bet you do." He pulled her in closer and kissed her forehead gently. "Mm I'll have both. Are you feeling nauseous? Because I'll make us something if you can hold it down."
In the After / MerDer
Meredith didn’t sleep well without Derek beside her, but she was sticking to her guns, until everything was completely sorted she didn’t feel comfortable sharing her bed with him. She headed downstairs, wanting coffee, but knowing she could only have water or juice, and some crackers if she could manage to keep them down. Moving through the living room, she gave Derek a smile in greeting, before sitting down on the sofa beside him, and placing a kiss on his cheek. “How’re you feeling?”
After reciprocating her smile, he placed a hand to her back and began to rub it soothingly. "Good. The incision site is no longer sore." He sat back and enjoyed the few minutes he'd share with his wife. "You sleep okay?" he inquired, knowing she wouldn't sleep well until he was beside her again, and the same applied to him too, but he hoped she got some rest.
In the After / MerDer
Sitting up on the sofa with a groan, Derek ran a hand through his hair. He'd spent another night on the sofa, which he'd been sleeping on for what seemed like months now. The alarm on his watch and the movements he could hear around the busy frat house told the neurosurgeon that it was time to get up. Although he wasn't back to work yet after his donor surgery, he had a post op check up with Dr. Bailey to get to and a cousin's bedside to sit by. "Morning," he said with a soft exhale as his gaze lifted to find Meredith.

Wide Awake :: Nat&Derek
The last thing she remembered was Luke leaving her room after he stepped back. That was the last thing that actually happened with her before everything just simply went insensible, a big patch of black and then there was nothing, at all - until now. Another big patch of black.
This time it was different - she felt her body. She felt it. It wasn’t some ghostly sensation that hovered over her skin - she felt everything from the IV catheter in her arm to the incision site sutures running down her abdomen. The very not soft patient gown, and the undeniably uncomfortable hospital bed. She heard the beeps and clicks of the machines around her, and identified every machine by its sound.
Natalie felt her fingers again, someone was holding her hand, and judging by the wedding band around his ring finger - Natalie knew it was Derek. She willed herself to take his hand with all strength she had, except she had no strength, so her fingers just twitched in a feeble attempt to reciprocate the gesture, an attempt of communication. Natalie almost opened her mouth to speak when she realized something was in her mouth, down her throat. They intubated her, and she pulled her brows into a frown as she started coughing, choking really.
Derek sat in a silent repose - wallowing in worry as he listened to every beep of Natalie's monitors. One hand grasped his cousin's, not letting her go, and the other pinched the bridge of his nose. How long he'd been sitting by her, he hadn't a clue. All he really knew was that he'd not allow her to wake up without him, and if she didn't want to see him after that he'd respect her wishes and leave her alone. It was the least he could do for her.
His tired eyes widened as a small movement met his hand... her fingers moved. "Nat..." Derek stood up and looked over his cousin, realizing she was awake. She was actually awake. "Nat!" She was choking on the intubation. "Stay calm for me." He quickly hit the call button for the nurse and as a young woman made her way into the room he turned, "get her doctor in here now!" Derek quickly went about taking the tube out of his cousin's throat. "Breathe out," he said calmly as he was about to take the tube out. "Hey," he smiled weakly once she was free, and began to perform a neuro exam. "Can you tell me your name?"

Mark: Really? Damn, about time. Do you need me to get / do anything.
Derek: No, thanks. Just thought you should know.

Derek: She's waking up.
Is she...
She winced when we ran pain stimuli tests. Like her face actually scrunched up and it showed on the monitor. She’s becoming responsive. Her reaction became stronger than yesterday’s and the day before. She’s..
She’s waking up.
I see... Right. Thank you.
Is she...
Hey Grape Man!
I haven’t been in to see her. Will you let me know how she’s doing, later?
Grape man?
Sure.
