Running in circles Coming up tails Heads on a science apart

[So I'm not going to change much for the reboot, seeing as I was just getting my blog off the ground. But great for me, i won't feel like a lost puppy this time around. Brigid will be less of a recluse though and with more of an interest in the sci-ency-things.]

Sofia showed a huge grin. It must have been quite dificult for someone who clearly believed Sofia was dead to face her in such a closed environment. Although both women were beings of science, and Brigid was amongst the few that Sofia was at least a little more sensible towards, although her science was the cause of what happened to Eleanor, her daughter.
Sofia crossed her arms as she sighed. “So it is you, Dr. Tenenbaum. Or should I call you… Brigid? None of us has any power, any reputation amongst these streets. We’re as vanishable as clouds. No use for burocracy in such situations, wouldn’t you agree?”
Holding on to her book, she looked around the others on the floor, while remaining on her same position. “Immanuel Kant, I see.” Sofia looked back at Brigid. “I didn’t know you were sensible for this kind of literature… But I guess philosophy is not the apple far from the science tree. But I must wonder…”
Sofia took a step closer to her. It thrilled her to be in the same position as she was in Rapture even if the same notion under those circunstances was a falacy itself. “…Why would you, from all the beings that crawled in that ocean floor… Why would you also be required to be in the sky? The great Brigid Tenenbaum. Julie Langford I’d understand. Gilbert Alexander? Perhaps, with a bit of thought. But you… the person with the most knowledge on what ADAM trully is… Appearing under these circunstances.”
The fact was Sofia didn’t understand herself why she was in Columbia. The only thing she had done in Rapture was her work around Altruism as a form of society, nothing more. But that didn’t stop her thinking about the reason behind Brigid being also located in those streets.
"…My, my. Where have I forgotten my manners? It’s the utmost pleasure to see you again, Brigid…" You bloody bitch, Sofia thought to herself. “I see you’re fairing well.”
Well wasn’t Columbia just a surprise. Was she going to walk into Andrew Ryan or Frank Fontaine just on the street. That was a horrifying thought. Brigid did not want to go down that road ever again. But oh did Sofia Lamb know how to push her buttons. She always had. It was more than just the fact that Sofia had continued her sins, even after Fontaine was dead. “I was never the one after power.” She replied pointedly, you were the one trying to take over Rapture, to continue my sins, she added in her head. Brigid didn’t reply, she didn’t want Sofia know that she was uncomfortable just being in the same vicinity as the other woman. She had no doubt that Sofia would be able to read her body language and Brigid had never been that good at hiding her feelings. Not that she really needed to do something like that. She wasn’t interested in controlling a city, she didn’t need to care. Well Sofia’s words were informative. Gilbert Alexander and Julie Langford were here too then. So it was easy to conclude that quite a few if not all of Rapture’s major players were present in Columbia. Perfect. It was like a gathering of great enemies. If Brigid had really cared, she would have rolled her eyes. It had always been about the Science, capital S, for Brigid. As long as she was allowed to experiment as she wished, she didn’t really care about who she was doing it for. The way Sofia talked it sounded as if Suchong was either not here or hadn’t been found. The former seemed like the more likely of scenarios because with Suchong’s abrasive personality and his experiments in ADAM, she figured, he would have made himself known. If he hadn’t, he could be doing something untoward. Was that why she had been brought here? To further her research? She’d seen people around Columbia using plasmids, though they seemed to called them Vigors. Brigid had been resisting the temptation but perhaps it was time to take a foray into the field. Besides if Sofia was here, Brigid had just as much right if not reason for being here. “No worse than you Sofia.”

Sofia, since her late teenage years, always had a need for food for thought. Books, movies, art in general moved her in ways not even love could do - those were seperate things, love and intelectual desires. Gilbert wasn’t a man of much knowledge outside the science world where he lived, and she couldn’t simply talk with everyone in this city after the attack of the Vox.
Before leaving her home, she noticed that her black hair was getting lighter. Perhaps she should dye it again, or leaving it be. She already experienced enough change in just a few months. The mission for that afternoon was to find a library, and furthermore, a book. A book to make her think. She thought about getting something about Brecht, or perhaps Karl Marx, but knowing where she stood good philosophical books would be a pain to find. So she’d settle for a simple book, perhaps fantasy, who knows, her heart was pleading for warm from the things she loved.
Leaving the house she didn’t take long to find a small library just a few streets away, and in the way there she had smoked two cigarretes and checked if she brought enough money with her to buy some more. Entering this small, but somehow much more familiar place, Sofia nodded to the librarian as she started going through the corridors until she found someone sitting on the floor, eating and reading.
"…" She sighed. But as she looked more carefuly to the back of this person, visions of Rapture passed right in front of her eyes. That hair… Those hands. It couldn’t be her, she hoped not. But she had already found Andrew Ryan in these streets.
Putting on her poker face, she cleared her throat. “…I’m sorry, I am looking for a book… Oh, here it is.” She picked a random book from those who were around this familiar woman. “…Oh! I’m sorry, you were holding on for this book… weren’t you?”
…Brigid Tenenbaum. If it really was her, Sofia would be both thriled and discusted. She didn’t exactly hate this woman, there was nothing to hate about her but her work. She did try to make things right once, if she remembered correctly… But Sofia never trusted someone who were once around Fontaine.
The brunette flicked a section of hair out of her face as she put down her sandwich and paused her reading to write something down on her clipboard. It was one of Immanuel Kant’s books. She loved her science, but she would read just about anything that she could get her hands on. Brigid had taken a strange liking to Kant’s writings. They were enlightening and straightforward. The scientist in her definitely appreciated the lack of flowery words. She closed the book with a satisfying snap, she had found three more of the same on one of the shelves she’d pulled it from. It definitely went into her ‘taking home’ pile. There were four other books in the pile in her lap and it was starting to feel heavy. Green eyes didn’t lift from the new book she’d picked up when the voice spoke to her. She glanced briefly at the spot where the book had sat. She supposed that she could let that book go, whatever it was. “Well I was...” Her mouth froze mid-sentence. That voice. Brigid knew that voice, it had haunted her on her second. It couldn’t be. Sofia Lamb was dead wasn’t she? She’d had yet to encounter anyone from Rapture, so she didn’t know if the dead came back too. She turned around so quickly, she ungracefully braced herself by pressing her elbow to the ground. And there she was in all her glory, Sofia Lamb. Brigid bristled for a moment. She had hoped she would never have to see Sofia Lamb again but clearly that was no longer in the clouds. The scientist opened her mouth but quickly closed it. Be nice, you’re in a library. She admonished herself and swallowed, what was essentially her pride. Brigid got to her feet. “Hello Sofia.” She greeted the other woman, arms stiff at her sides.

There were libraries and then there were libraries, this was a smaller library than the one Brigid usually worked in. She’d discovered this one simply by accident. She kept to herself for the most part which was easy, she was used to it. She did have a problem with branching out and actually feeling out the city. That’s what she should have been doing but she had fallen into a routine. She went to very few places, work, other libraries, her little apartment and to buy food. It was nice, like her own little world. The heels of her pumps clicked on the linoleum floor as she strolled into the library. It was mostly empty except for the librarian. The librarian was an older gray-haired woman whom barely paid any attention to anyone unless they made a lot of noise. This time though Brigid wasn’t here simply for her own reading pleasure though she would definitely indulge. After her work at the other library, she’d been tasked to take an inventory on the books in this library. It was slightly dusty with older volumes from before the sixteen hundreds even. She pulled the clipboard from the desk and lifted the first book off the shelf and wrote a detailed description of the book, including edition, condition, and other relevant information. Brigid then replaced the book back on the shelf before continuing onto the next one. Three hours and two shelves later, Brigid decided that she deserved a break. She arranged herself in the middle of the floor, with her long blue skirt over her legs, a myriad of books spread around her in a 360 degree circle. She was taking small bites out of the of the half-a-chicken salad sandwich in one hand and a book in the other. Her attention was so engrossed in the book that she probably wouldn’t have noticed an explosion in her direct vicinity.

Brigid is very distrustful of some most people.
About the Character
Tenenbaum grew up near the city of Minsk in Belarus. Her father was German, and she was raised in the Jewish faith. When she was sixteen years old, she was taken from Minsk to become a prisoner at the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz. There she observed German doctors experimenting on prisoners. Occasionally, when they made scientific errors, she would correct them. It was in this way that she discovered that she had a love for science. Eventually, the Germans put her to work assisting them in their infamous medical experiments. Tenenbaum generally considered the German experiments to be useless, but she was indifferent to the Holocaust in general. It is likely that she survived the prison camp due to her helpfulness to the doctors, which caused them to give her the nickname "Das Wunderkind" ("The Wonderchild").
Tenenbaum quickly gained a reputation as a scientific genius. However, in 1946 she mysteriously disappeared. There was speculation that she had been taken to America or the Soviet Union like many scientists after WWII, or even that she had been the victim of retaliatory execution due to her actions in the prison camps. Her true destination, however, was Rapture. [Via the Bioshock Wikia. It will be expanded later.]
