Cyrus couldn’t sleep. But for fucks sake what else was new? He had thought that this whole pretend-like-the-shit-that’s-bothering-you-isn’t-really was a good plan at the start and in fact it had worked for a matter of weeks. But now he just felt stuck, like no amount of pretending could fix how he was felling and if he just stood in one place long enough he’d crumble into a thousand pieces. So he never stood still. He picked up running again, like he had when things got bad in college and Maddie, Athena, and Jude all had their own shit to deal with. But this was different, this wasn’t around campus twice and back to the dorm for a shower and a power nap. This was run as far as your body could take you as fast as you could go and as far into the town in any direction before you pass out from exhaustion. Or started hallucinating. So it was strange that he was only on his third mile when his knees buckled out from under him.
The weeks had grown long since he no longer had a distraction from time. Sleep in his bed had gone from rare to none, and this night was no different. Only he couldn't fall asleep at his desk either. Having gone out for a walk in the cool air with more casual attire, Michael wasn't in any way prepared to do any work. He was a little more exhausted than a doctor or any person should be, but he was health enough. He was just an average person. His diet made his vampire senses duller than others, due to his refusal to drink human blood. So when he saw a boy running, Michael thought nothing of it, until the boy dropped. Almost instantly, Michael was by his side, assuring he hadn't hit his head, "Sir. Sir, are you alright?"
"I see. Your human… do they mean a lot to you?"
With a sigh, she nodded her head. “She does. She’s becoming one of the few people in the world that do. I don’t want to see her hurt.”

"To be honest, I’m not quite sure," Cass shook her head, trying to think. "There was this guy who had hurt my human. I got upset and shifted. Everything else is just gone."
"I see. Blackouts amongst wolves are not uncommon, though not all have them."
"Miss Cass. Understood." He gave a soft smile as she drunk, "Does that feel better, Miss?"
"You don’t have to call me miss. Just Cass will do," she looked back up at him and smiled back before tucking her hair behind her ear and looking back down into her lap. "Y-yes. I’ll be alright. Thank you, sir."
"Old habit, Miss. I will do my best to remember." Michael smiled softly, nodding. "I am glad. Might one ask what happened?"
