❁[Sword +1] It’s slippery outside today, foreshadowing the coming of rain. Unfortunately, Kana wasn’t quick enough to snatch up her umbrella when the thought hit her, and the layer of pelting rain tickled her as it trickled down her neck and soaked her. Only then did she grab up her umbrella, looking for her opponent with a mischievous grin on her face. 

❁[Faith +1] The tree had looked so much like the ones back in Hoshido that Kana couldn’t not trek its way, meeting an intriguing merchant along the way. But when the little girl was given with great insistance a pink ribbon, second thoughts started popping up. What...was the ribbon even for? 

❁[Riding +1] Maybe fashion wasn’t her thing, but Kana loved animals. So...maybe she could still enter the horse dress-up competition? It sounded like fun! But...maybe a partner to help her not have to use a stool too much would be smart?

Playful Pranks

Sure, he gave her a warning, but Kana still giggled uncontrollably when her uncle hoisted her up onto his shoulders. Her feet kicked almost eagerly until he settled and secured her by holding onto one of her feet. And maybe that was a good thing, because she was pretty high up! Of course not as high up as when she’d fallen out of trees, but her uncle was still really tall!

“Yeah, I can reach ‘em now!” 

And the messy experiment began. The first quill he handed her, Kana giggled throughout tying the string around the wooden beam and tying in the feather to dangle like a charm. Everyone was gonna be so confused and Kana just knew she wouldn’t be able to contain her giggles! After all, she wasn’t even tall enough to reach the rafters, so no one could possibly think it was her. 

“The room’s gonna look like one big chicken exploded! But…minus the gross stuff!” 

The quill is passed to her, and she erupts into giggles as she ties it to the rafter. Ryoma is careful about his balance—even with his niece being unable to hold still while balancing atop another person. He finds himself shifting sometimes. When she leans too far out, he leans back slightly. When she leans too far back, he leans forward slightly.

Minus the gross stuff—he hopes there won’t be anymore gross stuff in her pranks, because the process of cleaning it up would be awful for anyone involved. Harmless pranks were his preference; they were always in good fun.

Although, sometimes the occasional messy prank, if it is planned well, is also entertaining.

Ryoma passes Kana another quill, and when she finishes tying it, he passes her another. “There will be a lot of confusion tomorrow,” he says, already reaching for another to hand to her. “I only hope you can keep a straight face, so that you don’t give yourself away.” When he says that, he pokes her in the stomach. If she can barely contain her laughter when doing the prank, he can’t imagine what it will be like when she is faced with the reactions to her prank.

Stretching up to secure the string’s knot and tie another one, well, it left her tummy wide open. And her uncle poked her. Kana squealed and wrapped her arms around herself, stifling her giggles before smacking her uncle atop the head gently. 

“Quit that!” She giggled, taking the next quill and snickering to herself, tying the string into a knot with a smile as she accepted the next quill. 

“Yeah!” Kana grinned. “Everyone’s going to be so shcoked tomorrow, even the professor! I just...don’t know if I’ll be able to keep a straight face...”

But that didn’t matter, not when, with the aid and company of her uncle, Kana was rigging the most flabbergasting prank ever! Each knot she fastened made her giggle until she was a giggling mess, eventually conceding to admire her work from the ground alongside her uncle. 

Class would definitely be interesting tomorrow.

He was being friendly, but he was a friend! He looked just like one of her adult friends! Kana refused to believe that Owain and Odin weren't one and the same, so, they did what friends do!

"Y'know, buddy," Kana began, chuckling. "You have to be Odin You two look alike, and he was always so nice to me! You can't really tell me you're not Odin!"

Odin's theatrics and dramatic flare always made her smile, giggling like a little kid. They were so cool! He was either going on about mystical wizards or dashing swordsmen! His stories were never boring, not like other people who tried to tell epic tales only to fail miserably! Odin was always a ball of energy, just like Kana!

"You always tell the coolest stories! Well, so did Odin!" And Ophelia. Maybe that was where she got it from! Maybe that was also how he learned to braid? Assuming...this was Odin. But that didn't matter, because Kana just she'd be rocking the coolest hairstyle for the next few hours after he finished! He had dramatic flare; this couldn't go wrong!

Kana giggled at the thought, antsy where she sat criss-crossed in the grass. Patience was a virtue, but excitement as gnawing at her!

He held out his fist, flashing a bright sign of happiness, a smile!

He tried to press his fist against hers, then rotate it left and right, as if he was unlocking a door with a key.

“How about.. this?! We call it.. Unlocked chamber of infinite wisdom!”

That sounded cool enough! He liked it!

“If you have any ideas, unleash them! If not, we can do it properly, and I’ll tell you my secret, then you’ll tell me yours!”

“Oh-ho!” 

Kana liked that one! It was totally Owain and it sounded so epic and cool and-

She followed his movements, dramatically ending it with her own jazz hands, a giggle erupting from the little girl as she grinned. 

“Unlocked chamber of infinite wisdom!” She beamed. “That sounds so cool and epic, like its our own little thingy! And...it is!”

Now...Now was the big moment. Kana sat upright, eyes boring into Owain, leaning forward to study him with a curious look dancing across her face. 

Owain...or Odin? Or a brother to Odin! Or a cousin! Or...something. Or maybe nothing at all? The anticipation was eating her up inside, and her eagerness just couldn’t be contained. Was she right? Wrong? Somewhere in between? Or was Owain just totally dramatic and epic and wordy in his own way that happened to resemble Odin? 

“Oh I can’t contain it! What is it? Come on, Owain!”

"The time has come, young Kana. For truth and lies to be made clear.

You know me better as Odin Dark, pillager of twilight.

I arrived in Nohr to halt a great calamity, the one we all stopped. My quest ended, and so I sought after my next mission!

My true name is Owain, Odin was an alias to keep my identity as a hero from another world well-hidden."

Ta-da! And so it was written. Owain was Odin. Kana was correct.

"I want to reveal this to everyone in due time. A few are aware already. But i must be cautious. Many enemies of Odin may find themselves within these halls as well."

A short breath, it was done. It felt good to get this off his chest.

SHE WAS RIGHT.

Kana leapt up, bouncing around and pumping her fists in the air, squealing with each little hop she took. It was impossible to contain the joy that surged through her, invigorating her with the amazing energy of success, and her fists didn’t stop punching the air. She was right.

Detective Kana had solved the mystery, piecing together clues to discover just who Owain was: Odin. 

Through her victorious bouncing, Kana giggled, looking over towards Owain- No, Odin, and flashing him a beaming smile. But...No, yeah, he was Owain...not Odin. Odin was a made up name...

Kana pursed her lips, quirking a brow as she finally ceased her hopping, eyes narrowed at Owain. 

“Another world?” 

That was...strange. How could someone be from another world? 

“Don’t you mean another land?”

Playful Pranks

His smile softens when his niece lights up. To provide for his family and make them feel safe and happy, that was his duty as the oldest, not as king. And it’s one he would be content in fulfilling for the rest of his days.

She’s quick to catch herself when she gets a little too loud, but he does also laugh with her, hand going to stifle his own laughter—his entire family has always said they could hear him laugh across the entire castle. 

His heart almost drops when he hears her original plan. Fates, something so messy would have been terrible to clean up, and she surely would have been found out from any ink stains that might have gotten on her hands.

“Yes. Hold a moment,” Ryoma says, before picking her up by the waist and lifting her onto his shoulders. One hand holding onto her ankle, he reaches carefully for a nearby quill. “All right, so I’ll hand you a quill and you tie it up there. Can you reach the rafter now?”

Playful Pranks

Ryoma waits, eyebrows furrowed and gaze steady, for Kana to admit her true objective of the night or to simply stand her ground, that she truly did need paper. Unfortunately for her, he knows his family. He knows their habits and their demeanors—there are sometimes things he misses, but that is his own shortcoming. It helps when so few of his family members can’t very well fib. 

Maybe she was eager, Kana declares, but he still watches, head tilting slightly, as if to ask her if she really was that eager to doodle on spare paper in the middle of the night.

She gives in. He sighs softly. He’s never mad, only disappointed.

“I see…” comes the rumble in his chest when he acknowledges the colorful string in her hands. He places a hand on her head and ruffles her hair lovingly. “Thank you for telling me the truth, Kana.”

Ryoma flashes her a small playful smile. “You know, you’ll never be able to reach the rafters alone.” He gestures with his head above them to the wooden beams. “But… if you promise to do your work and not go sneaking around at night again, I could help you with your surprise for your classmates.” 

O-Oh...

The grin that found its way to Kana’s face and the bubbly giggle that left her made her eagerly pump her fists in small motions and stomp her feet, hopping up and down with a new surge of boundless energy. He was gonna help her.

“Let’s do it!” She exclaimed. Almost on instinct, Kana quit her bouncing, her hands flying to cover her mouth. Too loud! Too loud! But she heard no footsteps..so maybe her Uncle Ryoma was the only one that had been patrolling around the classrooms. 

“Let’s do it!” She whispered quietly, grinning at her uncle. “I was thinking about taking all of the professor’s quills and putting them in a crazy mess of yarn and feathers, but now I have a different idea!” 

Her gaze trailed up, her eyebrows rising and falling in a bouncy manner, giddiness bubbling inside of her. 

“I’m thinking we hang all the quills from the wood beams and then hide Professor’s spare ink jars!” 

Good luck tomorrow, because class was gonna get hectic! And that little splutter of grins and giggles was what she was looking forward to!

His hands, weaving a delicate tapestry within the hair of the little princess, Owain found himself focusing intensely on this task. He thought himself performing quite amicably! Biting his tongue, he listened to the girl accuse him. Accuse him so vehemently!

...It may have been correct, but he was still being accused!

“So, you believe the Scion of Legend and the Potent Force are one and the same? Truly intriguing.”

He didn’t say yes as to not have his secret that only a select few knew come out, but also didn’t say no to avoid lying. It was quite a balancing act.

Luckily, she had her back turned to him, so she couldn’t see how nervous he looked about hiding the truth.

“Perhaps it is true, perhaps it is not, the waves of the world flow not in one direction! The waters of fate are guided down many rivers, you see.

If you knew the truth, what would you do with such arcane knowledge in the first place? Would you use it to conquer the world and bring down the warlord of the ashen flames? Or perhaps attain eternity itself?!”

Scion of Legend and Potent Force? Kana’s brows furrowed, knitting together as perplexion plagued her expression. But..yeah? She supposed? Wasn’t that what she was getting at? That Owain and Odin had to be the same person? She’d never heard either of those terms before, not really, but she figured they were one in the same, Owain and Odin. They had to be!

“I mean...I guess?” She mumbled, pursing her lips off to the side, twiddling her thumbs at a pace that matched the one with which Owain braided her hair. “You two have to be at least brothers! Or twins! You look so similar, but you dress better!” 

Odin...She couldn’t describe his sense of style. Sure, it was a mage’s sense of style and designated outfit, but it was just strange. At least Owain dressed more reasonably, if not comfortably. 

“Conquer the world?!” Kana cried in a squeak, eyes shooting wide open, but she remained still to allow him to braid her hair and not pull it. “I wouldn’t ever do that! Warlord of ashen flames? I don’t even know these things, buddy! You never told that story!”

What was he going on about?

“Are you Odin or not? Or at least his brother? Maybe a cousin?”

It was hard to deny Kana the truth, that was certain.

Fingers stop their movements briefly, as if he's trying to think very deeply.

"Can I trust you with a secret? If you tell it the world may be destroyed, you know."

A bit dramatic, but it wasn't all false. His world may be destroyed.

...Okay,, that's also an over exaggerated way of putting it. He'd probably be just fine, but still! Some people didn't appreciate the swordsman formerly known as Odin's sudden disappearance from Nohr.

Then, he continued braiding, again.

"I'll tell you the truth, if you promise not to speak of it to anyone. 'tis a matter as cold as ice, as warm as sunlight, as eternal yet ephemeral as the stars in the sky."

When he stopped his braiding, Kana scooted around to look at Owain, her legs crossed as she curiously peeked at him. Was he finally going to fess up? Surely! That was always how the stories went! Or...at least the stories Kana knew. Some secret was always revealed, and it just happened to be the biggest and coolest secret ever! So...Was Owain’s secret that he was Odin, or at least a relative of Odin? 

“I promise!” Kana exclaimed, eagerly inching closer, eyes wide. “It’ll be like from those really awesome stories! It’s a secret only two people know and can change the world as we know it!” The idea was making her giddy! Keeping a neat little secret only the two of them would know? Sign her up! 

“We can shake on it, if you want!” She’d always seen her Pa either do that or bow, but sitting down and bowing was kind of awkward. “And maybe I can tell you some super cool secret in return!”

Playful Pranks

Bad idea, bad idea!

Kana almost screamed it to herself, but she kept it in her head as her toe met the harsh exterior of one of the wooden benches, scraping across the floor. The sound almost echoed, its loudness increased at the expense of her mischievous plan– a plan which surely fell to ruin now. 

And…it did.

The door to the classroom was opened hastily, as if her presence had indeed warranted the awareness of someone. Maybe a teacher patrolling for students who, like Kana, snuck out past bedtime? The idea gnawed at her, ate her alive, and petrified her to the spot. She couldn’t get caught! If she got caught, then a bad letter would be written home and Pa would be furious!

With bated breath, Kana stilled, eyes wide as she surveyed the dark silhouette that was shadowed by the outside torchlight. If not for the sway of his mane-like hair and the familiar voice, Kana would have squeaked. But, instead, she giggled off her worry and fear, now only sheepish that she’d done so poorly as to get caught.

“Uncle Ryoma!” She giggled, hands kept behind her back, obscuring her particular tool from view. “I was just…”

She was just what? Rigging a prank against her fellow classmates? Maybe even her professor’s patience? Yeah, maybe that wouldn’t slide so well. 

“Uh…Getting some paper! To doodle on! I ran out of what I had in my nightstand!”

Nice save! She doodled! He had to believe her! And then maybe he’d leave and her little prank could resume.

Giggling comes from deeper inside the room. An eyebrow raises. The scene before him is familiar. When Corrin was young, he had even caught him once sneaking around the castle in the dead of night, and when Ryoma had confronted him, Corrin acted as sheepish and as innocent as young Kana.

Steel eyes look her up and down. And she’s not a very good liar.

“Mmhm…” Ryoma hums thoughtfully, as if seriously thinking about what she said. “Getting some paper? Surely, you could have waited until morning.” He crouches down to her height.

“Kana,” he repeats her name when he stares at her.  She’s definitely hiding something. “What are you hiding behind your back?” His head jerks upwards slightly to gesture to her back.

Yeah...that last thought didn’t seem like that was tonight’s case. He was on to her with sharp eyes and maybe a knack for knowing what trouble Kana got herself into. She’d played plenty of pranks around Hoshido, be them from dyeing a vase of flowers to rigging a pulley to dump some spring water on someone. Some of them were...less than pleasant, but no one was hurt! So...maybe if she fessed up, he’d understand. 

The sigh that left her slumped her shoulders, her pursed lips falling into a frown, her gaze trailing to the floor. The stone was smooth, if not a little dusty. Cold too, and-

Kana knew what she was doing, and the idea made her nervous. She was stalling. For what? She had no idea. It wasn’t like she’d completely rigged up her prank yet. 

“Maybe I was eager!” She declared, glancing back up at her uncle. One last ditch effort. But the look he gave her and the sternness of his voice tells Kana that her Uncle Ryoma had caught on.

“Okay, don’t be mad! But that was a lie!” Alas, the truth came about, and Kana’s heart sank. She didn’t like to lie, but getting in trouble was worse! But that didn’t stop her from removing her hands from behind her back, revealing the spindle of colored string she’d hidden behind her back. 

“I was...going to be a little bit of an artist. But...Now I’m not so sure.”

Playful Pranks

Ryoma has developed a new daily routine at Garreg Mach. Early training and meditation, classes, office hours, and finally rest and mealtime in the evening. There are days, however, when he needs to spend more time in his office. Today would be one of those days. At his desk, he hums thoughtfully before marking a student's paper and moving it to a pile at the edge. They did all right. This next paper—his eyebrows twitch up slightly—did not do quite as well. Perhaps, it is of his own shortcomings as an instructor.

The chair scratches against the floorboards when he stands. It would be better to review the material.

It's a short walk to the Blue Lions classroom. Nighttime, for as unsettling the dark can be, is peaceful, and the stars in Fódlan—though the same in Hoshido—shine beautifully. Inspiring and calming simultaneously.

There's a noise in the classroom. Standing outside the classroom, Ryoma tenses, his hand hovering over the door handle. A thief? What could possibly be of interest in a classroom?

No, if not a thief, then a student looking for something.

Still he opens the door quietly, careful to not disturb the intruder. Although, he quickly relaxes once he sees who it is.

Ryoma opens the door, not bothering to be quiet anymore. "Kana," his tone is stern yet light. He walks further in, and his arms cross over his chest once he stops some feet in front of his niece.

"Do I want to know why you're here this late at night? Did you leave something in the classroom?"

Kana almost screamed it to herself, but she kept it in her head as her toe met the harsh exterior of one of the wooden benches, scraping across the floor. The sound almost echoed, its loudness increased at the expense of her mischievous plan-- a plan which surely fell to ruin now. 

And...it did.

The door to the classroom was opened hastily, as if her presence had indeed warranted the awareness of someone. Maybe a teacher patrolling for students who, like Kana, snuck out past bedtime? The idea gnawed at her, ate her alive, and petrified her to the spot. She couldn’t get caught! If she got caught, then a bad letter would be written home and Pa would be furious!

With bated breath, Kana stilled, eyes wide as she surveyed the dark silhouette that was shadowed by the outside torchlight. If not for the sway of his mane-like hair and the familiar voice, Kana would have squeaked. But, instead, she giggled off her worry and fear, now only sheepish that she’d done so poorly as to get caught.

“Uncle Ryoma!” She giggled, hands kept behind her back, obscuring her particular tool from view. “I was just...”

She was just what? Rigging a prank against her fellow classmates? Maybe even her professor’s patience? Yeah, maybe that wouldn’t slide so well. 

“Uh...Getting some paper! To doodle on! I ran out of what I had in my nightstand!”

Nice save! She doodled! He had to believe her! And then maybe he’d leave and her little prank could resume.

He was being friendly, but he was a friend! He looked just like one of her adult friends! Kana refused to believe that Owain and Odin weren't one and the same, so, they did what friends do!

"Y'know, buddy," Kana began, chuckling. "You have to be Odin You two look alike, and he was always so nice to me! You can't really tell me you're not Odin!"

Odin's theatrics and dramatic flare always made her smile, giggling like a little kid. They were so cool! He was either going on about mystical wizards or dashing swordsmen! His stories were never boring, not like other people who tried to tell epic tales only to fail miserably! Odin was always a ball of energy, just like Kana!

"You always tell the coolest stories! Well, so did Odin!" And Ophelia. Maybe that was where she got it from! Maybe that was also how he learned to braid? Assuming...this was Odin. But that didn't matter, because Kana just she'd be rocking the coolest hairstyle for the next few hours after he finished! He had dramatic flare; this couldn't go wrong!

Kana giggled at the thought, antsy where she sat criss-crossed in the grass. Patience was a virtue, but excitement as gnawing at her!

His hands, weaving a delicate tapestry within the hair of the little princess, Owain found himself focusing intensely on this task. He thought himself performing quite amicably! Biting his tongue, he listened to the girl accuse him. Accuse him so vehemently!

...It may have been correct, but he was still being accused!

“So, you believe the Scion of Legend and the Potent Force are one and the same? Truly intriguing.”

He didn’t say yes as to not have his secret that only a select few knew come out, but also didn’t say no to avoid lying. It was quite a balancing act.

Luckily, she had her back turned to him, so she couldn’t see how nervous he looked about hiding the truth.

“Perhaps it is true, perhaps it is not, the waves of the world flow not in one direction! The waters of fate are guided down many rivers, you see.

If you knew the truth, what would you do with such arcane knowledge in the first place? Would you use it to conquer the world and bring down the warlord of the ashen flames? Or perhaps attain eternity itself?!”

Scion of Legend and Potent Force? Kana’s brows furrowed, knitting together as perplexion plagued her expression. But..yeah? She supposed? Wasn’t that what she was getting at? That Owain and Odin had to be the same person? She’d never heard either of those terms before, not really, but she figured they were one in the same, Owain and Odin. They had to be!

“I mean...I guess?” She mumbled, pursing her lips off to the side, twiddling her thumbs at a pace that matched the one with which Owain braided her hair. “You two have to be at least brothers! Or twins! You look so similar, but you dress better!” 

Odin...She couldn’t describe his sense of style. Sure, it was a mage’s sense of style and designated outfit, but it was just strange. At least Owain dressed more reasonably, if not comfortably. 

“Conquer the world?!” Kana cried in a squeak, eyes shooting wide open, but she remained still to allow him to braid her hair and not pull it. “I wouldn’t ever do that! Warlord of ashen flames? I don’t even know these things, buddy! You never told that story!”

What was he going on about?

“Are you Odin or not? Or at least his brother? Maybe a cousin?”

Stem one goes loopty-loo there, and then stem two here, and there, and here. Weave in, weave out. Weave, weave, weave. That’s what Kana did. Each stem she wound around the next, producing a flower crown decorated by lilies and…she didn’t know. Some sort of pink flower? Roses were pink, weren’t they? And tulips, too? Oh, it was pointless trying to guess; Kana didn’t know much about flowers. 

But that didn’t matter, because flowers were pretty, and pretty things cluttered her room as if she were a hoarder. But that was okay! Kana loved the little pretty things! Flowers, doodles, trinkets, charms–

Hi there!

Kana twtiched with a slight startle, eyes wide as she quickly shot her head over her shoulder. A student (Kana guessed from the garb) stood there, cheery and curious. At least the lady didn’t seem angry! 

“O-Oh,” Kana mumbled, giggling quietly as she offered her best not-nervous smile. She wasn’t nervous, nope! But… 

Kana glanced back to the flowers she’d set beside her, stacked upon themselves, pink and white. The lady had a very good question– one Kana definitely wasn’t able to answer. But would that get her into trouble? She didn’t want that, not one bit. 

“I dunno,” She mumbled, lips pursed into a curious side-pucker. “But…I’m not doing anything wrong! I…could make you one if you promise not to tell! Please?” 

The last thing she needed amidst her classwork and messing around was a letter from her Papa telling her to get her act together. She knew she wouldn’t be able to properly read the letter, not through the guilt and disappointment she’d feel. It was wrong to…well…do wrong! But she didn’t know if this was wrong!

“Please?” One more time for good measure.

“Hey, hey, hey now,” Mae bent down a little to look the girl in the eyes, “there’s nothing to worry about. My lips are sealed! I only asked because I was thinking of taking some myself.” Her usual bright grin was replaced with a soft smile, she’d always had a soft spot for kids. She wasn’t sure how much younger the other student was but it was enough to make her feel protective.

“I’m sure we’re allowed to take a few, otherwise someone would have already told us not to,” Or at the very least, they should have said something already. It was probably fine and if it wasn’t - it was someone else’s problem. “I know, why don’t we plant some more flowers? That way we haven’t really taken any, just borrowed a few.” Congrats Mae, you’re a certified genius, she thought to herself. With her signature smile back in place, Mae placed her hands on her hips. “So, no need to worry at all! Although…” she trailed off.

“I wouldn’t say no to making some flower crowns together! What do you say?” Mae offered her arms out for a hug, feeling handshakes were too stuffy for the occasion. She’d never been great at ‘formal’ and ‘proper’ preferring to leave them aside for religious practices and rituals instead of day to day life. Decorum felt too distant for her liking. Flower crowns, however? “What better way to seal a new friendship? Oh, I’m Mae by the way. Nice to meet ya.”

Nothing to worry about? Oh...

The relief that came over Kana expressed itself in a small sigh, her tense shoulders dropping, the look of worry upon her face melting into a smile. That was good! Spared from trouble again! Trouble that she...wasn’t sure was really trouble than it was just something that shouldn’t be done. But it was a few flowers! It’s not like anyone could expect her to not be a little pluck-happy.

At the open arm gesture, Kana threw herself at the girl, giggling as she embraced her new friend in a manner of thanks. 

“Yeah!” Kana cheered. “Let’s make some flower crowns! And...do you know how to make flower bracelets? Are those things?” 

A matching crown and bracelet would look so pretty if she did something with her hair, messed around with her outfit. And when the day was done? She could set them down on her nightstand and doodle them, preserving such a soon-to-be fun time!

“But yeah! Let’s do it!”

...Where was it again?

Searching the cathedral had teetered on hours of bounding about, asking the various priests and clerics and prayer-goers if anyone had seen her prized possession: her bandana. She couldn't find it. It wasn't under the pews, tied around someone's wrist, discarded on the floor, nothing! But Kana refused to give up, especially on finding something so dear to her. Her Pa had given her that cloth, and she wasn't about to doom it to an enternity of being lost.

But the lump that welled up in the back of her throat made Kana falter. Her lip began to quiver, stopping her in her tracks.

Oh...

That was a terrible thought, the one that crossed her mind. What if she never found it again? What if she never got to wake up in the morning and tie her most favorite thing in the world around her neck and conquer the day?

The tap on her shoulder startled her, and Kana jumped. She spun around to see whoever had tapped her: Flayn. Flayn, who was holding her bandana.

Kana didn't process the girl's words, only registering the gesture of offering the cloth back, and Kana took it. She snatched up her bandana and barrelled towards Flayn, wrapping her arms around her savior.

"Thank you SO much!"

Swirly, twirly was how Kana did it. Gracefully and amazingly was how her Auntie Azura did it. Even out in the meadows far past Garreg Mach, away from prying eyes (because she knew her aunt didn't like too much company) her aunt was an amazing dancer. She didn't just try to do well in front of people, but also whenever she danced just to dance, to have fun. She was always so amazing at it that Kana always found herself stopping to watch. And that didn't change today.

Kana plopped down on the grass, almost entranced by the swift grace of her aunt. It all looked so right, so natural, like the gentle flow of a spring creek. Kana always loved these little moments when her eyes went wide at her aunt's passionate performance. Everything felt right.

The excitement and giddiness of even attempting to dance like her aunt bubbled inside Kana, and she sprang to her feet. The grass tickled her bare feet, the little girl's giggles distracting her from properly placing her feet to catch her balance. She tumbled a time or two, but each time was met with a snort of laughter.

"You're really good at this!" Kana giggled, hopping up to her feet. "Maybe one day I'll get there too!"

Exhaustion crept into her bones for no reason other than that Kana simply stayed up a little too late the night prior. But she was doing things, setting things up, making people's days just a little easier! But maybe organizing the kitchen pots and pans was a little too much, especially now when even a stone wall seemed comfy enough to lean on. Her muscles hardly felt anything, and the cold temperature of the stone walls only seeming to lull her to sleep.

The faint humming of the mystical lull of a song met Kana's ears, her eyes closing as a yawn interrupted her thoughts. But thinking was exhausting, and the stone wall felt so comfy...

A startled yelp left the little girl when she slid against the wall, the suddenness of her fall a startling pester to her sleep. But she didn't meet the stone ground, not this time. But...wasn't that how it worked? You fell, you hit the ground?

Oh, something caught her. Arms caught her.

Kana's gaze trailed up, whatever (or whoever) caught her setting her upright to stand on her feet again. That's when Kana was met with the slightly amused, beautifully soft smile of her Aunt Azura. The little girl felt her face go warm, sheepishly brushing herself off and beaming at her aunt.

"Heya!" She chuckled. "I was just...snoozing, y'know? But...thank you!"

Only her Aunt Azura would smile and nod so gracefully, tell Kana it was alright and that she was only concerned. It brought a bright grin to the little girl's face.
