Vladimir Bohdan Florescu Dracula II
Independent Multiverse, crossover-friendly Sir Lancelot roleplay as told by Mari. Heavily headcanon-based & inspired by 2004's King Arthur.
"Oh no. Is it too late to turn back to Essetir?" he joked, but a raised eyebrow quickly replaced his smile as Vladimir abruptly run off.
"Is something the matter?" he asked, following his retreating back with his gaze. "What is it that Artur is not supposed to know?" Although his signing was a little rusty these days, he still retained enough to understand Morgaine's simple signs.
He nodded, offering her his arm as she led the way into the castle. "That's too kind of them."
"A never ending task, I assume," he replied, dryly, as he followed easily behind on the familiar route.
A wide smile tugged his lips upwards as Morgaine flew into his arms, and he returned the embrace with a faint chuckle. "Thank you. It's good to see you. Both of you. I've stayed away for too long."
"You have no idea." Vladimir had said before, slightly jumping out of the way when his sister came out of nowhere and launched herself into their cousin's arms.
"Yes, you have," Morgaine said with a smile. "Mama and Uncle Myrddin have quite a few words waiting for you." She then signed Artur knows to her brother.
"Oh Gods…" Vladimir groaned before taking off running to keep their older brother from killing someone, even though there was a line to avenge the offense that they were talking about.
"Come," Morgaine said this time, a little strained. "Uther and Igraine have made you gifts, and you must be tired from your journey."
He held his tongue, realizing that any further attempts at downplaying the situation would be ill-advised.. to say the least. And yet, for the life of him, he couldn't figure out why their grandfather was so damn upset about something that had happened months ago. Something he'd survived, though not without an immense amount of suffering and agony - which he still wasn't past.
It wasn't until their uncle and father burst through the door that Kiernan sighed heavily, and abandoned his injections yet again in favor of leaning back in his chair - throwing his hands up in surrender. ❝ — My.. darlin' little sister can't keep her damn mouth shut, for starters. ❞ Was that the right response? Not at all, and he knew it. But his temper was coming dangerously close to getting the better of him, thus his filter was just about non-existent.
âťť I got played, âťž he spat out a few moments later. âťť I went out to meet a ' client ' about a potential project.. and I got attacked by a fuckin' group of Hunters. âťž His broad shoulders rose in a stiff shrug then, and he finally lifted his own darkened gaze to settle on that of their grandfather's. âťť It's over. They've long since been dealt with.. I'm fine. âťž
Artur went over to Vladimir before changing into his human form, grabbing his brother, and getting him out of the office and outside so that he could release his abilities safely. The knight collapsed to his knees before burying his hands in the grass and then screaming in pain as his abilities released into the ground. Vladimir then began throwing up what little he had in his stomach as Artur held him up.
"It's okay, little one," Artur whispered into his brother's good ear in Dacian after it was over.
It took a few more minutes for Vladimir to be able to get to his feet, and he was still pissed off as he and Artur went back into the building. "What do you want from me?" He asked John, hoping to get some idea of what he meant when he said 'we need you'.
❛ —— Yeah, ❜ the fact that he'd suddenly gotten so loud hadn't really bothered her, if only because she was used to much worse - especially in the torture chambers. Besides, she'd done more than her fair share of screaming, destroying things and slaughtering over it; she'd been the one who had found him, with Wynter. ❛ I reckon so, ❜ she agreed, not even sure if their grandfather had actually heard her or not.
He'd almost forgotten the new injections their Daddy had been adamant that he try - another attempt at levelling his hormones out and bringing him some relief from his migraines. Par for course; he'd already forgotten to feed AND eat some regular food for the fourth day in a row now.. Sighing deeply, he'd only just opened the top drawer of his desk to retrieve the vials and syringes when the relative tranquility of his office was unceremoniously disrupted.
❝ God damn it, Lorelei, ❞ he growled without realizing that it wasn't her this time. ❝ How many times've I gotta tell... ❞ He paused when he wasn't met with a typical smartass remark, then slowly lifted his gaze to find their grandfather standing there, looking mighty pissed off. ❝ — Uhhhh, ❞ he swallowed thickly, his tongue immediately darting forth to swirl around his fangs, presenting him with an opportunity to rein his frustration in - even if only a little. ❝ I uhm.. What?? ❞
Things in the room actually started shaking as Vladimir did his best to control his rage, a clear sign that Kiernan better choose his next words carefully, since his eyes, which were normally brown, so dark that in certain lights they looked black, but his irises were suddenly flecked with a red-gold, "Kiernan…" The immortal warned in a dangerous otherworldly voice. "You heard me."
The knight barely reacted when the door suddenly opened, and Artur came in, followed by Kiernan's father, John. "Will someone please tell me what the bloody hell is going on?!"
❛ Good! Everybody'll be happy to hear it, 'specially Kiernan. ❜ She couldn't help but roll her eyes as she nodded, but only because she was annoyed with Kiernan for not entertaining her.. or letting her feed from him yet. ❛ Yeah, wouldn't be Kiernan if he wasn't stressin' 'bout somethin'. ❜
She reached out to run her fingers through her uncle's fur, curling them so she could give him some light scritches. âť› Oh, y'know. Same ol', same ol' really. Samara and Daddy are always busy in the clinic. Uncle Sebastian keeps to himself. Kiernan.. he stays busy. Went and almost got himself killed not to long ago though. âťś
"Kiernan did what?!" Vladimir almost shouted before reminding himself to take a deep breath. "Sorry, honey." He said before kissing Lorelei's forehead. "That must be one of the reasons your father asked me to come." The Sarmatian Knight then got a determined look on his face before leaving Lorelei with Arthur and marching to Kiernan's office.
"What in the name of the Gods were you doing that almost got you killed?!" He asked his grandson after letting himself into the office and closed the door.
Continued from here: @kingcenred:
"When I'm not sidestepping the Romans, I'm trying to keep Artur from killing himself." The Sarmatian Knight said in Brythonic Gaelic as he led Cenred through the more Roman-populated parts of the fort.
"Cenred!" Vladimir's twin sister, Morgaine, cried with glee as she ran through the crowd and flew into her cousin's arms before kissing him on the cheek. "Happy birthday."
In the silence following Lorelei's departure, Kiernan spent a few minutes running an agonizingly thorough mental checklist of all their Grandfather and Uncle's acommodations - ensuring he'd missed no detail, no matter how seemingly small. Everything from their dietary needs, to their little creature comforts and in-between. ( This was a huge part of his job as the Manager of the Hotel, after all.. he just took it a hell of a lot more seriously when the guests happened to be family. )
Everything was in order. He was absolutely certain of this, because HE'D been the one to do all the work. And yet.. he still wasn't entirely satisfied. ( That was normal, however. Perfection wasn't good enough; he could always do better. )
❛ Hiya, Grandpa. ❜ Lorelei, unusually chipper and on her best behavior - for the moment being - practically skipped into his open arms. Remembering Kiernan's warnings, she was very careful when she hugged him. ❛ Hiya, uncle Artur. ❜ She greeted him, too. ❛ How was the trip?? ❜
"Easier than most," Vladimir admitted as he returned the hug. "I don't have a bunch of politicians making demands of me, and I get to visit with you and the rest of the family here. I take it Kiernan is in his office stressing?"
"Hello, little one," Artur said with a smile as he carefully rubbed his furry body against Lorelei after she had hugged his brother. "How has everyone been?"
❛ Kiiieerrrnaaannn, ❜ Lorelei whined, flopping herself down on Kiernan's desk, right in the middle of the schematics he'd been working on for four days straight. ❛ Can't you save bein' borin' for later? Granddaddy's here. ❜
Had Kiernan's eyes rolled any harder, they would have tumbled out of his skull. âťť I know he is, âťž Kiernan sighed, lifting a hand to wave at the massive monitor perched on the left corner of his desk, âťť I watched him come in. âťž
âť› Well? âťś She reached out to pluck his pencil from his hand, then to tousle his immaculate hair. âť› Ain't you gonna put this on hold? âťś
Kiernan's hand rose higher to bat Lorelei's away, swatting them forcefully - but not enough to hurt. ❝ — Why don't you run along like a good girl? Go get him and Uncle Artur, and get 'em settled somewhere comfortable. I'll be along in a few minutes, myself. ❞
Lorelei scowled, her eyes narrowing dangerously - even as she hopped down off his desk. âť› You're such a bitch, Kiernan. âťś
âťť Yeah yeah. I love you, too. âťž That didn't stop him from shooing her out of his office though. Or from grumbling, rather loudly, about the way she'd wrinkled his schematics and fucked his perfectly organized desk all to hell after she'd left.
Vladimir smiled warmly when he saw Lorelei coming down the path he and Artur were walking along, "Hello, my darling." He said before stopping and holding out his arms.
Vladimir slung his luggage onto the bed in the room he had been given in his grandson's hotel in Savannah, Georgia, and decided to unpack later, so he went in search of Kiernan, Lorelei, and Samara.
"You need this break as much as Kiernan, Lorelei, and Samara need you," Artur said as he plodded next to his brother.
OOC:
Does anyone want to do anything with the old man here? I'm trying to be more active on my blogs.
OOC:
Not going to lie. I want to do something where the old man and his brother have and ride on dragons so bad!
The museum, Annie had to admit, had turned out beautifully. She remembered how, years before she'd remembered anything, she'd been so utterly furious with the idea of moving his things, of displaying everything. It made her chuckle to know why now, and when she and Tut had strolled through it together outside of hours before the official opening, a perk of working there, they'd not been able to stop laughing when they'd come upon the chariots.
How that day had just barely been a bit over a year and a half ago she didn't know, but she was so eternally glad she'd showed up then. Now she'd been walking around with Meketre for the afternoon, he'd finished his work early and she knew Tut would be too, so they were taking Tiye about and showing her things. Annie usually kept her tightly strapped to her chest, both for ease of carrying her and having her close. It was foolish, she knew, because she was always the picture of contentment. There was just one, teeny little part of her that was still scared something could happen so being able to feel her breathing and wriggling about eased her mind.
Seeing Tut round the corner she grinned, already shifting to get Tiye out of the wrap to giver her to her father. "There's Abi, go see," she said, smiling and kissing her little head as she handed her over. "If it's the reincarnation of Howard Carter, I get first punch," she muttered, considering what the day was she'd been highly tempted to go spray-paint something very un ladylike on his house in Thebes. She was pleased though to see Vlad, well one of the Vlads anyway and smiled broadly at him. "It is good to see you, and she is isn't she," she said proudly, standing next to Tut, "She's even starting to babble things, I swear she'll be saying Abi in no time, mark my words."
Of course she didn't know as much about their work, beyond the things Tut had confided in her and it wasn't her place to ask. She knew very well what it was like to want to keep your secrets so she never pried. "We'll have to go see the other two soon, I'm glad everyone's all right, or as much as they can be," she said, smiling gently, "And I suppose I am. I was just thinking that its' only barely been a year and a half since I got my feathers all ruffled about someone monkeying with the chariots. I would have told you that you were a bigger lunatic than Carter if you'd suggested everything that's happened since, but I know I've never been happier."
The vampire smiled and offered a finger to Tiye when Tut brought her over, “If you are anything like your father was, we will not be able to get a word in edgewise, huh, little one? And your mama is in luck because everyone she wants to see is here.” Vlad said to the baby before smiling at Annie. “As you should have considered, both Tutankhamun and Meketre can be a little rough on historical objects, and God knows you have plenty of time to catch up on.”
“We were kids, and we apologized to your grandfather and your uncle, especially your uncle, I don’t know how many times. It’s not every day one gets to hold one of the most legendary swords in the world.” Meketre said when Vlad mentioned historical objects as he turned bright red at the memory.
“I’m teasing you. We’ve all done it.” The Wallachian prince said with a grin before leading the way to the conference room, his grandfather had been allowed to use to change.
Since the older Vladimir was officially there as a visiting royal, there were two very large members of his small protection detail stationed at the door, but they were all related and knew Tutankhamun, Meketre, and the family well, so they grinned when they saw Annie and the baby. Tut promised them time with his daughter later as Vlad knocked on the closed door before opening it.
“Ah, there they are.” The older Vladimir’s brother, Artur, said before going over to them. He was in human form, but Annie would have been able to recognize his eyes and his voice. He gave the group the same lopsided grin that his brother had when he saw little Tiye, who reached for him and squealed happily. “Hello, my darling.” He said to the baby as Tutankhamun passed her over. “You remember me, don’t you?” “Gods, the little lamb has grown.” The older Vladimir said with a smile as he slowly walked over, leaning heavily on a cane. The knight then hugged Tutankhamun and Meketre before offering one to Annie, “And she is as beautiful as her mother.”
Tutankhamun was grinning from ear to ear when he finally found the two, technically three people, he had been looking for, and asked the vampire that was with him to hold back for a few seconds, “Hey guys, you are not going to believe who the VIP guest the head of antiquities has been showing around upstairs is.” He said as he gently took his daughter before calling for a friend to come forward.
“Hello, my friends.” Vlad Dracula said as he came forward and smiled at his friends before bowing a little. “My grandfather is very pleased that you have been transferred here, and was wondering if you have some time to visit with him. Given today’s date and now that this museum is open, he figured you all could use a grandfather.” The vampire smiled wider at Tiye and Annie. "And we've missed all of you and the little one who has grown so much since we last saw her."
“Vlad,” Meketre said with a smile as he hugged one of his vampire friends before looking concerned. “Tutankhamun and I can guess why your grandfather has been in this part of the world. Are you and the team alright?”
“We’re mentally and physically exhausted, and my grandfather threw out his back two weeks ago. Admittedly, this visit is just as much for us, especially him, my uncle, and my cousin Vladimir, as it is for you.” Vlad said as he returned the hug before smiling at Annie again. “You look in your element, Mrs. Saqr.”
His eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he tilted his head. Despite his grandfather's assertions to the contrary, Bastian still felt as though he should have heeded his initial thought - that he should have wandered off elsewhere. There was obviously something weighing on his mind.. ❛ If you're sure, ❜ he replied, then shook his head and something akin to a chuckle thrummed painfully in his throat. ❛ No Sir.. wrong furry critter. But he has been sort of anxious. ❜ And now Bastian could see why.
Bastian nodded, then quickly made his way over to his grandfather's side and took a seat on the edge of the hay bale, though not without some difficulty. ( Those damn long legs of his.. ) âťť Well, I dunno. I was just roamin'. I'm not so good at sittin' still. And then I noticed you were out here, so.. âťž he paused and gave a slight shrug.
Vladimir laughed softly at the 'wrong furry critter' comment before helping Bastian sit down, "Your uncle is worried about my sanity, and having trouble sitting still is a family trait, I'm afraid." He then cocked his head before going over and grabbing three more bales of hay. His centuries as a slave and all the other hard labor jobs clearly showed as he hoisted the load onto his back. "Up with you, you deserve a comfortable seat."
He'd been roaming aimlessly. He wasn't accustomed to not working every second of the day; he didn't know how to relax, a trait it seemed he'd inherited from his Grandfather in spades. — It was nice though, being out of New York City. Not stressing over trying to find an apartment he liked, or some land he could build a little house on.. he could admit that to himself easily enough.
His roaming had led him to the barn. At first, he hadn't been sure if he should make his way inside or not; he'd sensed his Grandfather's presence and occured to him that maybe he ought to turn around and venture off in a different direction.. but then he'd decided to step in anyway.
The greeting he'd been met with gave him pause, stopping him in his tracks and prompting him to lift his hands in a gesture of both apology and pacification. âť› Sorry, âťś he signed quickly, not bothering to strain his damaged vocal chords - his Grandfather was too far away to hear his rasping. âť› I'll go if you'd like. âťś
Vladimir immediately felt terrible for taking out his melancholy on one of his grandsons when he saw it was Sebastian, and shook his head as he discreetly placed the sword he was holding back into the trunk he had been looking through. 'No need to be sorry, baby boy,' He signed tack in the sign language he and Artur taught all their acknowledged descendants. 'I thought you were your uncle, and he's been more attached to my hip than usual'
The former knight then motioned for Sebastian to join him. "What brings you out here?" He asked out loud before moving over on the haybale he was sitting on.
Vladimir didn't take time off often in the modern world. He was either working as a doctor or more likely acting as a political adviser and as a ruling king, so the fact that he closed Fort Camboglanna off to the public kind of made the locals worried their immortal protector was having a mental break.
“For the love of the Gods, Artur,” Vladimir said as he sat alone in Camboglanna barn, holding one of his old swords in his hands. “Leave me…” He turned toward the sound behind him and was a little shocked to find it wasn’t his brother.
