"So the rumors are true? Karen? ComingĀ here?"Ā Well this was certainly troubling.Ā
"Perhaps I didn't cover my tracks as well as I'd thought...."
Would you rather be mediocre all your life OR know you were supposed to be great, but never achieve greatness?
"That's not an easy question..."
"I think...I think I would rather just be mediocre. Assuming in that scenario that mediocrity was always what I was expected to achieve. At least in that case I wouldn't be letting anyone down."
What age would you say you get mistaken for the most?
"People generally assume Iām younger than I actually am, but not by a huge margin. Early twenties, maybe. Hopefully not younger than that."Ā
āPersonally I think I look older than I actually am but I suppose I should be flattered that people believe Iām as accomplished as I am at an even younger age.ā
It didnāt occur to him the the misconception could have less to do with his face orĀ physique and more to do with the fact that he generally ran around dressed in a belted jumpsuit and cape - an outfit that was a little odd for a man nearing 30.Ā
What's your favorite Eeveelution?
"I've never really thought much about the eeveelution line. If I have to pick, I suppose umbreon."
definitely not sylveon
Giovanni spots Lance and runs up to him. "Hey there, how's my favorite Dragon Trainer doing today? Just wanted to stop by and tell you that you can take the day off. I'll give your work to Ariana. She could always do with more work. You have a wonderful day!"
"Giovanni!?" Remembering the position he's in, he quickly adds. "S-Sir?"Ā
The whole interaction has caught him completely off guard, and he fumbles with his words. He'd imagined meeting the infamous leader of Team Rocket in a dozen different scenarios, each more dramatic than the next; none of them involved just casually bumping into him in the hall, or being referred to as his "favorite dragon trainer".Ā
"Er, thank you, Sir," he manages to choke out. "I just hope Ariana doesn't mind."Ā

(( DA:I is such a great game! I know the exact feeling. November brought a lot of great things with it. I wish I had more time to enjoy it all at once! XD Also, good luck with your finals! c: ))
((It's completely taken over my life, it's a problem lol. But it's probably better to just take things slow rather than try to do everything at once and get nothing done. And thanks!! I'm probably gonna need it. 8P))
Family Reunion || Lance & Clair
Clair closed her eyes and let out a sigh, placing her arms behind her head. This was a sticky subject, and although she, for Arceus knows however long, hated her cousin, there was something about the situation they were both in that made her thoughts tether.
"Regardless of reason, though," she started, "weāre here, someplace we shouldnāt be no matter what. So maybe itās within my best interests not to be a complete and total bitch to you, because this is not the time nor place. If you were Champion, maybe, but it seems weāre on the same playing field for now." She raised a hand and gave her cousin a thumbs up, accompanied by a wavering smile.
"Well, I should show you the ropes around here. Itās surprisingly not that hard to grasp some of these concepts, which isā¦probably why this group has a history of failure." She stated, realizing that the eccentricities of the HQ wereā¦a contributor to the fact that nothing really ever gets done.
Lance let out a hearty laugh. It just spilled out of him, unbidden, but if felt good to finally let go of all the stress and unease that had been coiled up inside him since he'd arrived on base. He'd been hoping to gain something more with this gambit of his, but the possibility of a closer relationship with his cousin was the last thing that he'd expected, and with the air beginning to clear it was hard not to see how absurd the situation was. However, as Clair had pointed out, both of them had dipped down to lower points than they'd likely thought possible but at least now, for the first time well,Ā ever, really, they were on equal terms.
He returned her hesitant smile with a confident grin and a thumbs up of his own, and for a moment he almost looked like his old self again. "Somehow I'd expected something a bit more...organized from Rocket Headquarters, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to hear that everything is exactly as inept as it seems from the outside."
Late Night || Lance & Sapphire
Sapphire continued her nervous fidgeting as Lance gave her a once over, and only hoped he wouldnāt recognize her. She had only met him once or twice in her years as Hoennās champion at League meetings, but she was abnormally good at recognizing faces. Plus the man cut an intimidating figure, and if Sapphire was anything these days, it was paranoid about people intentions.
She startled a bit as Lance spoke once more, breaking the silence that had grown after her question. āA-ahh, okay, I can understand that. I tend to wander around base when I canāt sleep as well. It took me a few months to find my way around at first.ā
She gave a soft, nervous smile as she wrung her hands, trying to keep her twitchiness at bay. āI donāt often run into anyone as well, if you donāt mind me asking, do you need help finding your way anywhere?ā
It was hard not to notice the young woman's skittish behavior, though Lance tried not to let his eyes linger on her hands or body for long; wouldn't want to give the wrong impression. He couldn't blame her for being nervous, as he was far from the picture of serenity himself, but he did his best to loosen the tension in his posture. His shoulders dropped slightly as he shifted into a comfortable slouch, hoping he now looked a little less like he was standing at attention.Ā
"I don't mind at all. In fact, help would be very much appreciated," he said with a warm smile. "I'd originally intended to find a break room where I might be able to make myself some tea, but at this point Iām so turned around I donāt think I would be able to get myself back to my room, tea or no tea.ā
Dare: Here, take this. [The Anon gives you a camera] I'm going to need you to act like you're taking a tour of the Team Rocket Base, and try to get the next three people who post to take your picture in front of three completely random things (i.e. the front of the building, a super secret experiment in the laboratory, a crate of stolen pokemon, etc...) Bonus points if you get a picture with Giovanni, or someone else of importance within the base.
Alright, I suppose thatās not too badā¦Letās see who passes by.Ā

[[M'kay, I didn't see any rules about it but I wasn't sure if there was some accepted group etiquette or something. Thanks! 8)]]
Family Reunion || Lance & Clair
Clair gave a satisfied smirk at the thought of Lance being kicked off his position. To a child, no less. That was a great lift off her shoulders. Howeverā¦
"I see. So, as much as I enjoy the idea of you no longer running the region, but thereās something a little weird about this story." She hummed, looking down at the floor pensively. "I actually understand where youāre coming from, but I donāt understand why you would give up so easily. I figuredā¦I figured that you wouldāve fought for your position as Champion. Isnāt that who you are? Unless, for some reason, youāve changedā¦"
The woman looked back up at her cousin, inspecting him. āI didnāt want to care or believe you at first, but something is justā¦gripping at me. I mean, if it werenāt for my own motives, I would be back in Blackthorn, sitting on the throne of female empowerment. But for some reason, I donātā¦ā
Clair sighed and rubbed her temples. āā¦You know what? Itās been a long time, Lance. A very long time. I know you probably donāt want to explain anything to me, which is good. Iāve been okay up until this point. How about I just believe you, show you the ropes here, and justā¦stay out of your way while Iām here?ā She said, trying so hard to be a better person. She didnāt want to revert back to her weak-willed, angry, belligerent self. She didnāt buy some of that story, because her family wouldnāt be so quick to disown their most prized possessionā¦would they? Unless, much like Lance, time has changed.
She figured it was easier to just get him out of her life quicker by accepting his story for what it was.
Clair was skeptical, of course. It had been one thing to fool members of Team Rocket; this was another matter entirely. His story banked entirely on the hope that his cousinās distaste for him or, less likely, her sympathy would outweigh what she already knew of him. True, Clair herself seemed to be more level-headed than he remembered which worked to his advantage, and if he was lucky maybe she could believe that heād changed drastically as well, but it was a gamble with uncertain odds. Tension radiated off Lance in waves as he watched Clair consider the facts.
Finally, she let out a sigh that cut through the uneasiness in the air and proposed a compromise that was all Lance could have asked for. A small smiled tugged at his lips and his stance began to relax somewhat. āThat sounds fine by me. I wouldnāt want to get in your way either.ā He paused, unsure of what else to say. It felt odd to be so open with Clair, especially after all this time. Heād never really hated her per say, but heād undoubtedly looked down on her. Heād assumed she was weak and too rash for her own good and heād made his thoughts very clear, yet now his fate came down to her judgment and she had given him the benefit of the doubt. It was unfortunate that he couldnāt tell her the full truth, but perhaps he at least owed it to her to consider her with new eyes. āThank you,ā he added after a beat, his voice softer. āAnd Iām glad to hear youāve been doing well.āĀ
((ToD Thurs.)) "Hey, go steal Clair's cape, or go and pants Archer."
Are you trying to get me killed?
Wes stood for a moment with his typical expressionless face, staring disarmingly back at Lance. He began to reach for Lanceās outstretched shirt. āOkā¦ā
Then, as soon as Wes was about to grip the shirt, a sly grin crossed his face. He grabbed Lanceās wrist and pulled it outwards, dashing in and snatching Lanceās cape from its loose position on his shoulder as he then proceeded to immediately sprint down the hall with it. āā¦But that aināt how stealing works!āĀ
Lance lurched forward suddenly, slamming his back foot down just in time to regain his balance. Unfortunately, by the time he could react all he could do was watch as his cape fluttered down the hall behind Wes. Oh absolutely not.
"Hey! Give that back!" he called and he shot after Wes. It took him a moment for him to realize that he still had his shirt clenched in his hand and that heād left his belt sitting on the floor, but it was too late to worry about that now.Ā
((ToD Thurs.)) "Hey, go steal Clair's cape, or go and pants Archer."
Are you trying to get me killed?
"No. Iām daring you to go steal Clairās cape, or go and pants Archer. Orrr I can always steal your shit. Aināt got a much of a preference, myself.ā
Lanceās hand immediately went to the clasp on his cape, releasing it with a soft click. āGiven the options, better to lose my shirt than risk seeing what Clair or Archer would do to me.āĀ
He shrugged his cape off his shoulder, undid the belt around his waist, then pulled his shirt over his head and held it out to Wes. He was doing his best to keep a straight face, given the ridiculousness of the situation. āItās yours.āĀ
((ToD Thurs.)) "Hey, go steal Clair's cape, or go and pants Archer."
Are you trying to get me killed?
Family Reunion || Lance & Clair
Clair furrowed her brows and shook her fists. She hadnāt beenĀ thisĀ expressive in a very long time. As much as she wanted to punch Lance and throw him off this mountain with as much force as she could possibly muster, she calmed herself, not wanting to show any lurking grunts her more violent side. If nothing, do it for the reputation.
The bluenette cleared her throat and moved a stray hair away from her face, seeing her cousin actingā¦suspiciously humble. āā¦Under normal circumstances,ā she started, her voice simmered down to something quieter, āyou wouldnāt even register within the same species as me. However, I have questions. And by that logic, you have questions, too. So Iāll humor you, and Iāll hear you out, since at this point, as far as I can tell, we are on the same level.ā
For the first time in a long time, Clair was the ābigger personā and stepped inside Lanceās room, allowing him the opportunity to speak. āSo go ahead. Your story better be worth my time.ā
Lance shut the door behind her, taking the short moment his back was turned to revel in his small victory. He was honestly surprised he'd managed to move the conversation this far along, but he supposed it was a testament to Clairās growth that she was actually willing to hear him out. Back when they were kids it generally would have taken nothing short of adult intervention to get them to back down from an argument. Of course, given how long it had been since theyād actually spoken it was really only natural that sheād changed; they both had. Seeing her here, though, he couldnāt help but wonder what kind of person sheād become. He wanted to believe that she had legitimate reasons for being with Team Rocket but was he really willing to risk his entire mission on blind faith? More to the point: was he willing to put that faith in a cousin whoād never exactly been his fan in the first place? Lance didnāt have time to ponder the pros and cons here, so he had to just go with his gut.
āOf course, I wouldnāt want to waste your time,ā he said as he turned back to face Clair, a bit more sarcasm in his voice than the situation warranted. Old habits die hard, apparently. āIn that case Iāll get right to the point.ā He took a deep breath and steeled himself for what he was about to admit. As he spoke he broke eye contact with Clair, staring instead at the wall just behind her head. āLoathe as I am to admit itā¦you were right.ā He said it like he was delivering a terminal diagnosis. āI was, ahā¦kicked off my pedestal, as you so kindly put it. You must have heard about it.ā He didnāt want to go into the details if he could avoid it, certainly not out loud, and certainly not with Clair of all people. Wherever sheād been at the time, he assumed she had at least heard rumors about the Indigo Leagueās last young Champion. āOur clan couldnāt exactly allow themselves to be headed by someone whoād lost to a child, so there were talks of leadership changing hands.ā He almost suggested that she might have been considered had she actually been there, but quickly thought better of it. No reason to bring up such a sore subject when he was already going out on a limb trying to play up her sympathies. āAfter all that I could hardly face the League, let alone our family or the people of Blackthorn. And there wasnāt a place in Johto or Kanto where someone wouldnāt recognize me.Where else could I go but here?ā
It was the same story heād told the Rocket members whoād questioned him when heād first asked to join,Ā albeitĀ condensed, and most of it was true in someĀ sense. The question was, would Clair believe it? He didnāt expect to reconcile with her nor did he even really care at this point; he just couldnāt have her suspecting him of spying. There was enough stacked against him already. Ā
