Quiet Comfort

Andy:

“ Yeaaaah, I am pretty sure that I am one of those kids the moms of boy scouts tell them never to hang out with.” He said with a fang filled smile as he reached up and pushed a strand of dark hair from her eyes.

When she rested her head against his shoulder he smiled and pulled her closer. It sometimes surprised him how easily she could get enveloped in his embrace, his strong frame wrapping around her smaller one and hiding it from the world. It was times like this that he remembered how — breakable she was, something her strong personality often made him forget. He remembered seeing her body fly threw a windshield, her laying broken and bloodied on the ground. He knew what it felt like to lose his best friend….

                                        he knew how precious every moment with her was…… “ You want ice cream? You know I aim to please m’dam  - I am sure we have some in the freezer in our little hideaway.”

“Well that’s their loss… and my gain,” she teased, her voice soft as she smiled. “I’m quite selfish and spoiled when it comes to you—I don’t like sharing.”

She was so pleased at him pulling her closer that her happy thoughts almost overpowered Anre’s drop in mood as is flashed across the bond. She caught only the edge of it, ragged and sharp—which seemed horribly appropriate, considering the path his thoughts had taken.

“Then by all means, lead on Prince Dragoimir—but only if you promise to put aside your dark thoughts. You saved  me that day—that’s all that matters. You gave me a second chance at life.”
