i like when they wheel estinien out to talk to dragons because the game will be like, estinien really has a way of talking with dragons! and the way he talks with dragons is like "are you a pussy or something" and then the dragon will be like "god you're such a bitch just like nidhogg" and, crucially, this works every time

estinien's character arc is letting go of his anger so he can stop being an empty suit of armor propelled by vengeance and go back to being a real person and he's by far the most chill of the recurring characters now that he's done that but one of his core tenets remains "there are things worth getting mad about and you should be getting mad about them" and it's funny every time when he comes across a dragon wallowing in defeatist self pity and has to go "god shut the fuck up and just get mad about it like a normal person"

I love this recurring theme of finding wholeness, of accepting the parts of you that seem corrupt and poisoned and wrong. Estinien doesn't get rid of his anger, he learns to live with it. Nidhogg was rage personified, and it destroyed him. It almost destroyed Estinien. But his epiphany coming out of the Dragonsong war was that righteous anger is important, but it shouldn't rule you.

Twice in the Dark Knight storyline, WoL is confonted with their own emotions. Literally confronted. Your self-worth, utterly furious with you over how little you love yourself, tries to kick your ass. Your sense of grief and guilt tries to murder you for everything you've done. And you defeat them by accepting them back as part of you. There's nothing wrong with any of them, they just shouldn't rule you.

I mean, Ardbert is You-but-committed-atrocities, and you have to accept him or lose everything.

It kind of... makes sense that it's WoL and Estinien who talk Tiamat into leaving Azys Lla. Nobody else could have understood her. The guilt over what she'd done, the anger, the grief--you both have all that. And then they again talk Vrtra into taking a risk on a better future because nobody has gambled more with fate than the two of them.

not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!

honestly, I think it's funniest if most of the characters have done it at some point. even the ones who know better. they just heard a rumor somewhere and they have to be absolutely sure.

(though personally, I've decided that specific search was by Grum using the wifi during the VDC. he strikes me as someone who would be into weird conspiracy theories.)

this is SO hard to answer, because so many of the characters are, like, those pet adoption ads that say "MUST STAY TOGETHER, CANNOT BE SEPARATED". it's all about the relationship dynamics! and I think everybody in the main cast is pretty neat, honestly; there isn't anyone who doesn't have something I really like about them. but if I haaaaad to choose...

Hearts - Trey, partly because I do like me a good Mom Friend™ character, and partly because he pretends like he's all sane and normal, right up until he does something to prove he's just as much of a dipshit as everyone else. you're not immune, sir.

Savana - BUFF 👏 TSUNDERE 👏 WEREWOLF 👏

Octa - this one took a lot of soul-searching, because I do feel like the Octatrio is at their very best when it's all three of them, especially when they're in full Ed Edd n Eddy mode. but in the end, Jade ekes out a win, because sometimes you get this Jade:

and then when he gets back from his nice mushroom-foraging hike, you get this Jade:

Scara - Kalim, my sweet little moron. such a good heart, so few braincells.

Pome - 90% of the time when Rook shows up, you know it's going to a be fun time watching a silly little man dance around and break into song for no reason and wax poetic about the beauty of, like, a chair. always a delight!

except every once in a while, he'll bust out something that is absolutely insane even by Twst standards:

this isn't a complaint, it's just. why is he like this. I want to study him under a microscope, except I'm afraid of what I might find.

Igni - MUST STAY TOGETHER! CANNOT BE SEPARATED! ...but I would probably go with Ortho, just because right now I'm pretty invested in his Learning Emotions story arc and looking forward to seeing it progress. he's a good boy who will post your cringe fanfic publicly if you annoy him

...and at this point I'm calling technicality because the ask says "other dorms", and I genuinely do not think I could choose between the Dia boys at this point. let's see how episode 7 goes first!
