You didn’t think you’d ever been this nervous in your life. You were caught between frantically trying to make your tiny 1 bedroom apartment presentable, and trying to figure out what clothes to wear. How did you even end up in this situation???
The girl of your dreams was coming over.
There had barely been any preamble for it either. You’d texted her, and she’d asked if you wanted to meet up. You’d said yes, obviously, because you did. And now she was on her way over to your shitty little apartment??
And you still didn’t even know her name.
God, you were about to get fucking murdered, weren’t you? This sort of thing doesn’t just happen to people, right? ...right?
And then suddenly there was a knock on your door, and your heart was racing even faster.
You ran a hand through your hair and tried to straighten your outfit. Not that it was anything worth looking at. Your favorite hoodie and some baggy cargo pants, basically your standard outfit. You shook some nervousness out through your hands and answered the door.
A knowing smirk greeted you on the other side of your door. That same vivid purple hair cascading down the side of her face. There was a strange look in her eyes as she looked you over. The smirk never left her face though.
“Well?” She asked in that same husky voice, “You gonna invite me in?”
“R-right, yeah,” You stuttered, stepping back and motioning to your modest apartment, “Make yourself at home, uh-”
“Beth,” She interrupted you, “Short for Bethany.”
“Beth,” You responded, tasting the way the name felt on your lips. It was nice, a good name. “I’m-”
She interrupted you again, putting a finger on your lips to stop you. Your eyes widened and you felt your cheeks redden.
“Shhh, you don’t have to say it, hun.”
You blinked. What? How did- what?
With your words thoroughly snatched from your lips, she stepped into your apartment and looked around. She made a noncommittal sound before turning back towards you.
That jostled a laugh out of you. Even you knew she was being very generous with that one.
“Thanks, but uh, I’m pretty sure I was wearing this same hoodie when we met.”
“You were, but it’s a good hoodie, very comfortable. It’s served you well.”
What was that supposed to mean? Something about the way she kept saying things, the way she kept talking about you. It was weird, like she knew you or something.
“I’m sorry, but, who are you?” You asked, finally, “Like, don’t get me wrong, you’re gorgeous, and I would love to get to know you, but this sort of thing? This doesn’t just happen to people, especially people like me.”
She cocked her head at you and put a finger on her chin.
“Well I suppose that’s true. Rendezvous like this aren’t exactly commonplace, but why do you think they shouldn’t happen to you in particular?”
“Come on,” You said, motioning to yourself, and then to the apartment around you, “I’m not exactly a ladies man.”
“… No, you’re not.” There was that strange look in her eyes again, although the smirk was long gone. “But maybe not everyone is looking for a ladies man.”
“So, what? You’re into losers with no style and no future?”
“Oh hun, you’ve definitely got a future, don’t you worry about that.”
Before you could respond to that, she stepped up and pushed you back against the wall. Your brain stopped functioning. She was so close, and she was touching you, *pinning you to the wall.*
“Now, how about we get to the real reason I’m here, yeah?”
There was no way you could form words right now. Your heart was pounding in your chest and it was all you could do to answer her with a nod. Her lips split in a grin, and her hand came up to cup your cheek.
“God, you really are adorable.”
And then she was kissing you.
