last transhumance

Last transhumance describes in photography and film the extinction of a millennial way of life. Last Transhumance is an artistic, ethnographic and sociological project totaling 8 years, 6 countries, more than 50,000 km traveled, 100,000 photos, 70 hours of footage and 100 hours audio recordings.

My #documentary "Berzei-Buzesti" received the award for innovative solutions in promoting heritage, from AFCN (National Cultural Fund Administration). Matache area, in downtown Bucharest, has gone through radical changes that have influenced the community, leaving the neighborhood in a state of social and economic disintegration. The documentary film “Matache - Berzei Buzesti” is based on extensive footage. Changes in the area were recorded in videos, timelapse and photographs taken during 2010 - 2016. The film includes interviews with architects, urbanists, civil society representatives, residents in the area.

#NewYear'Eve, 2003 New Year's Eve traditions with #bears & #masks are very old, definitely pre-Christian. These traditions are still preserved in parts of Romania. Some of these habits are still held in the countryside, in an atmosphere somewhat close to that of ancient times. I started the project “Bears and Other Masks” in 2003: I took pictures & I filmed in Romania and Ukraine (in Romanian population areas). It's still work in progress...
