Learning about GIS, shapefiles, the US Census Data and how everything can be stitched together. In this episode of Dre-coded, I'm sharing how I learned about the fascinating world of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the wonderful way you can stitch them together using GEOID. Also, a newbie's attempt at having fun with QGIS and data layers.
Jack of All Trades, Master of Whatever the F*ck You Want
Growing up doing everything under the sun. Lilypadding. Taking whatever skills you enjoyed and need to take and using it in your next venture. People say its crazy I say it's Experimentation 101.
Someone I loved once introduced me to James Marcia's Theory of Identity Development (this is obviously why I loved them). It dares to say that your identity can either be in Diffusion, Foreclosure, Moratorium or Achievement. And all four are along the spectrum of commitment and exploration. **blah blah add details about this theory here**. A lack of action leads to Diffusion. A lack of commitment leads to Moratorium. A lack of options leads to Foreclosure. The sweet spot is what we call Achievement, but I think the buddha likes to refer to it as Enlightenment.
The thing is, you can't get to the sweet spot without missing a few turns. You can start wherever but just keep going. At some point, it'll all just stitch together very nicely.
The truth is, life is in the grey or in the middle of the bell curve - as we data people like to say it. I think this is what old people mean when they lie on their death beds and say that they wished they lived with fewer regrets. You're always going to regret whatever choice you make if you see it through a retrospective lens. So, just always choose the one you think you're going to regret the least.

Creating an end-to-end solution for a small business. The goal is to have the following pipeline: 1. Have a web application that will capture data from users
2. Store data cheaply in a cloud-based database (Maybe something like Google or an alternative that is easy to deploy)
3. Model that database and be able to query it
4. Create a dashboard for my end-user that will also be hosted in the website where the data is ingested
