Crevin 2
It was awfully hot. Crevin never understood why the games had to be played at midday, especially here on Darod.
Years had passed from the day Dreadball was revealed to him on Suuria Square, and a lot had changed. The following day he registered at the local club, and began intensive training. He wanted to become a striker, stir up the fans with his goals and be a hero like Lightning Deller he had seen on the screen. His body type didn't help much though, and because of his size he always was put to play as a guard. With time he finally accepted this role, although he always had the complaint that he wasn't wearing a glove and couldn't touch the ball.
After a few years at the local amateur leagues, where he had specialized in doing intense damage to his opponents, he was approached by a scouter for the Albino Delvers who made him the proposal he was waiting for, the one he was working for so hard.
The Albino Delvers never had made it to play the Alpha League, the ultimate league of the universe, but they had worked their way up to the Terra League, one of the professional ones that consisted of teams from all over the universe, and established a good name.
So now Crevin had a chance to be paid for what he loved to do. He had the chance to get known way beyond his home planet, and if he played his cards right, surpass Lightning Deller, the local hero, to become a universal one, maybe not as a striker, but who cared? If he caused enough injuries or kills he could become a keeper, and, if so, fulfill his dream of wearing a glove and touching the ball. He accepted!
So now here he was, an Albino Delvers' guard, playing a preparatory match against the Darod Diggers, Lightning Deller's Team, in Suuria's “Wasteland Arena”, at midday. Extremely frustrated because the Diggers were in the lead by 1, and suffering in his armor from the heat. He had just seen Deller, who was at the end of his career, pass beside him in an attempt for a strike. He pulled himself together and ran after him. He was behind him, so a slam wouldn't count as a foul, and that's what he did. Running into Deller, with all his strength, slamming him in the back, resulted in Crevin's former hero to be lying on the field, unconscious, armor smashed and a severe cut wound in his right side, the bleeding was immense. At the time Crevin had no eyes for that, he followed the path of the scattering ball. Vernon, a jack, was in it's path, caught it and with a skillful turn, being in striking distance, scored a 2 pointer seconds before the game ended. The Delvers won, the crowd went crazy, shouting Crevin's name and amidst all the frenzy he turned to look at Deller the moment he drew his last breath
to be continued...
