THE BREATH WAS KNOCKED OUT OF HER IMMEDIATELY when she found herself being wrapped in warmth of someone, the very person she had been searching for. When it came back to her, she let out a choked laugh that could be considered a mix of relief and a sob. It was Lydia! Of course it was, because if anyone could find her, it was her right? "I'm back..." she managed to say, wrapping her tightly in a hug and not wanting to go. She wondered how and why, but she refused to ask her best friend such questions. Lydia already dealt with so much death as it was that she didn't want to burden her with more. "You're still here." Of course you could say alive but Allison would've known if she died. The other side was filled with their loved ones, all sharing a space that they sometimes saw glimpses of the living there. No, she meant in Beacon Hills. Allison always thought she'd get out and never look back, maybe following Stiles or the other way around. There had been a glimpse once, of two of her best friends together but now it seemed like it was years ago. "I've missed you so much Lyd."
the reality had not yet settled in. in fact, lydia truly believed she was still dreaming about her deepest wish. if only lydia had been capable of turning back time, she would have prevented the dead of allison to ever happen. unfortunately, all lydia could ever do was scream. it did no longer matter. allison had returned. whatever consequence would come with that, was a concern for later. first of all, she needed to relish in the scent that was her, in the flesh that was her best friend. " I have missed you so much more allison. oh god ... i cannot believe this. " lydia was perhaps the only person who had harbored hope while all the others had given up. lydia knew deep down in her heart, allison would always find her way back to her. " of course i am here. " while it was a lucky shot lydia had been in town to witness this, she knew that it had been her powers that had drove her back to town. to witness this very moment. to see allison back from the dead. " we need to get you home. we need to get you a place safe and warm. "
as she spoke, stiles quickly shook his head. βno, you couldnβt have known. not since we..β he cut himself off, frowning a little. some time had passed since their break up, but it still made his chest ache. stiles then nodded in response to her words, understanding the unspoken part of her sentence. her reassurance that she was safe brought a small smile to his lips. βi know, i just.. canβt help but worry i guess.β he replied sincerely. he appreciated her promise. as her hands moved up his arms and rested there, stiles couldnβt help but be acutely aware of the closeness between them. his heart raced, and he had to take a deep breath to steady himself. lydia still had that effect on him, she likely always would. heβd loved her for too long for that feeling to disappear so easily, so quickly. he listened to her confession about not sleeping well, and he couldnβt help but empathize. βyeah, i get it,β he admitted with a soft sigh. βbut, weβll figure it out iβm sure. we always do.β
there was a depth of emotion in his eyes as he looked at her, a silent acknowledgment of everything theyβd been through and the unspoken connection that still lingered between them.
the pain of their break up still lingered between them like a ghost of their past. the time in which they had been apart should have made them move on from it already. it seemed neither had quite done that just yet. lydia knew little of what stiles had been up to in the meanwhile but the feeling of him having felt the same loneliness was not a thought that did her well. " i should have known you would. i just didn't think this moment would have been one to worry about. i was mistaken. " the last few words left her breathless. it wasn't easy for her to move on, it wasn't easy to face him in such closeness. all he did was bring her mind to a place it no longer should go to. it had been a mutual decision and both of them should be happy to be moving on. still, her body was reacting entire different then it should. " could you stay ?? i mean for the night ?? i just ... it would be easier on both of us. " knowing stiles, it would be hard for him to resist this offer when lydia more commonly did not ask for help or anything from others. not when she could provide almost everything else herself. " just for tonight. perhaps it will be easier to at least have a bit of sleep. "
Scott appreciated the warmth of Lydia's hand in his own, a reassuring gesture of their enduring friendship. He gave her a genuine smile, appreciative of her understanding and willingness to move forward. "You've always been a great friend, Lydia, and I won't forget that," he replied, returning her squeeze before releasing her hand. "And thank you for not dwelling on the past. It's been a wild ride since we last saw each other, but it's also been pretty great." Scott leaned in slightly, lowering his voice as he continued, "I've been doing my best to be the best Alpha I can be, keeping Beacon Hills safe. It's been challenging, but with the pack by my side, we've managed to handle everything that's come our way. How about you? What have you been up tot
even when there had been quite some time passed between them, lydia could never forget the kindness and many memories they had shared together. the good, the bad and the very ugly. even when she and other had been close to dying, a few eventually even did. lydia would never trade her life to forget any of it, even when it would make things so much easier. " i haven't always been the best friend. you however, always kept faith. even when there were times you would be better off . i admire that, even when i wouldn't quite say this to you again. so better remember it. " there was always a limit to lydias kindness. still, deep down she knew what she felt even when she didn't express it often. " i am glad to hear you kept things under control. means i am not needed to clean up your mess. i have been rather well, creating a business from the ground up is quite a lot, but we are slowly getting there. THERE REALLY WAS ONE PERSON SHE TRULY WANTED TO SEE; not Erica or Boyd, or the rest of Beacon Hills' fallen residents. She had already seen Melissa, Derek and Parrish, sure, but all their little reunions only left an aching deep in Allison's chest. Sure, if she had seen Scott he might've been able to talk some sense into her, or even her dad... but still her blistered feet moved her, startled like a deer in headlights as her heart and mind told her that they weren't who she was truly looking for. The name was there, on the tip of her tongue, and yet she couldn't find the face it belonged to. Her mind still couldn't make sense of it, believing that she should be with the rest of the fallen who were caught in the same ensnare Beacon Hills was famous for. It still felt as if she were dead while her feet screamed she was not.
ALLISON ARGENT ISN'T DEAD.
Not anymore, no, hiding in some alleyway from onlookers who had witnessed her reappearance with either no emotion or faint recognition. If she were going to have a mental breakdown, she'd do it alone. There's a part of her that told her that's who she was... but still, as if silently calling out to Lydia, she wanted so desperately to see her best friend again.

ever since allison had passed away, lydia had felt a hole left behind that couldn't be healed, not even by time. the loneliness and grief had carried on with her throughout the years. it didn't matter how long she had passed away, the pain of losing allison was still there. it wasn't until she came in contact with people who shouldn't have been alive to begin with that allison started to get hope once more. it did not matter whether others would declare her mad. in her gut lydia knew allison would return to her, one way or another. in her mind, the consequences of going against mother nature could be damned and all forgotten about. as long as her best friend would return, she would do anything for it.
while she had the hope, it wasn't until later that the sudden sensation kicked in. the sensation of allisons essence being nearby woke her from her slumber and made her go out in the night. the frenzy of finding what could not been seen nor was based on any evidence was always a part of her banshees powers that made her appear a lunatic. that did not prevent her from going out there and searching what could possibly the secret wish she had been asking for. it was at the moment she felt most hopeless that she found it, that she found her. the shock and overwhelming relief all crashed into her at once, making her whisper her name in disbelief. " allison ... i knew you would be back ... " tears glistened in her eyes when she took a run for it, clearing the distance between them and crashing into her with a bone crushing hug for she couldn't believe she was actually there. her cry was heard the moment she had claimed her in her arms, finally having the truth of her body into her arms that made it a reality instead of a hopeful dream.
he was doing everything within his power to remain calm, gain composure, not wishing to transition within another person's proximity. he appreciates her kindness, her ability to see through what the supernatural world was causing him. "i -- i don't need help , i just need to do this alone and the last thing i want is for you to get hurt."
while lydia could never understand the pain and suffering of transforming, she did feel sympathetic towards them and felt the need to help any way she could. " i could get you to a place where you couldn't harm anyone. i have friends who have been in the same predicament. " perhaps it wasn't wise revealing this information yet her banshee senses weren't tingling therefore she trusted her decision in giving him the benefit of the doubt.
melissa looked at the voice and a smile formed on her face and then looked around them "I haven't heard anything or seen any of them so far" she said quietly, so no one heard the conversation "alright, I guess we should be safe for the night." melissa looked around them again, just in case someone or something was lurking, she grabbed onto the others arm and started to walk to her car.
lydia had become quite capable defending herself against any supernatural threats over the years. however safety was really found in avoiding it all together. knowing miss mccall tagged along freely did gave her peace of the mind. " i do appreciate it. during these events you never know it could turn. " the feeling in the pit of her stomach wasn't helping either to ease her mind. allowing her to take her for the walk, she took a firm comforting hold onto her arm. " how have you been lately. i haven't seen you for quite some time now. "
derek let out a small breath as he heard the others voice and remembered her as one of Scott's friends, he looked over at her and gave her a small smile and then heard the question "there are a couple of new ones, i think i heard and some vampires here now." he looked around and then back at her "how are you doing?"
lydia had come across a lot of species in the few years she had become a banshee. however she hadn't come across a vampire yet. it felt like that was the one species that had been entirely made up in books and movies. derek was proving her wrong it seemed. " vampires ? you got to be kidding. are they for real ?? " werewolf was one things, vampires were an entirely new level of outrageous.
stiles let out a breath he hadnβt realized heβd been holding when lydia reassured him that she was alright. he watched as she reached out to hold his hand, the touch grounding him and bringing a small smile to his face. βsorry, lydia. i justβ¦ the storm was crazy, and i couldnβt find you, and you know how my brain can get when it starts overthinking things,β he admitted with a sheepish grin. he squeezed her hand gently, his voice softening. βiβm really glad to see youβre okay. i was worried.β stiles couldnβt help but feel a sense of relief wash over him now that he had found her. even though they werenβt together anymore, he would always hold a special place for her in his heart, and he would always care about her.. just as he had for as long as he could remember. the thought of her being in danger was something that he hated and, if there was some way he could protect her from that, then he would.
βyou havenβt been sleeping either?β stiles asked, lips quirking into a slight, sad, smile. the last time he remembered getting a full night of sleep was with her by his side. ever since then.. his mind didnβt quite know how to shut off.
the mere sight of stiles, the concern reflected in his eyes brought a sense of familiarity and a feeling of coming home. the impact of his words hadn't quite registered yet until he claimed her hands to ground himself and his overwhelming emotions. the universe was captured in his eyes, the world she could have belonged to if things hadn't changed the way they had. the lingering regret echoed at the depth of her heart when he looked at her this way. " you never have to apologize for being concerned about me. i should have known you would be looking for me, even if ... " lydia was incapable of finishing her sentence without the raw edge of emotion being voiced through her words. to prevent herself from crumbling right there in that moment she took a steady breath before meeting his gaze once more. " i am safe, i am here. you don't need to worry anymore. i promise. " while there were many things to be concerned about, this wasn't one of them.
her gentle hands would squeeze his to bring the comfort he was seeking for before her hands would travel up his arms where they would rest. her body still responded to him being this close to her, her heart speeding up, her breath becoming more shallow. that was all quickly forgotten when he too had suffered from sleepless nights. " i have not ... i can't quite remember the last time i quite have ... " the honesty passed her lips with quick ease, even when it was riddled with a sweet lie as well. she knew damn well when the last time was when she had a proper night of sleep. however, she wasn't going to disclose that to him.
