The pieces do not necessarily have to be read as romantic in nature; they are in general a celebration of intimacy. This piece is titled Soldiers, Farmers, Military, Agriculture- Work Hard Together to Strengthen the Country. It is done in a style studying 1960s/70s Chinese communist art. On the left, the central PLA soldier holds a piece of wheat harvested from the farmers' field; on the right, the central farmer waves China's flag. Like the previous piece The Soldiers and the People are Like Fish and Water, this piece emphasizes the importance of soldiers' relations with civilians.

Soldiers and the People are Like Fish and Water references a popular slogan used by communist Vietnam during the Second Indochina War, referring to the importance of soldiers maintaining a healthy relationship with civilians. (This was an important aspect of both North Vietnam and East Germany's military.) This piece shows a soldier receiving lotus flowers from a worker, who points to a stylised image of two intertwined fish. Acrylic on paper, 11x17. Sold. December 2025.
