Feel awful about the lack of posts, but this past month has been rough. Hope this doodle is enough for now :] I do wish to come back to it sometime.
Genuine question for native Spanish speakers.
Is it uncomfortable or annoying to have Spanish mixed with English dialogue? My general plan for my Encanto comics and art was to follow the lead of the movie in how dialogue is written (sticking to the spanish used in-movie) but I thought I'd reach out first, especially since it's not a language I know all that well.
I wanna make sure that the art I make for Encanto is as respectful as possible, so any and all input is helpful!
Puerto Rican chiming in. It depends on how you do the Spanglish and/or Inglanōl (yes these two words are separate and there is a distinction though most people call both Spanglish). So for my experience, I tend to use Spanish for words and phrases I learned first in Spanish. For other latines it’s just what’s easiest for them to remember at hand and usually not things that are elementary level sort of language.
Also you should be careful of which Spanish words you use. There are regional and dialectal differences. For instance, fried unripe plaintains for Puerto Ricans (and many other latines) would be called tostones. For Columbians (and other latines) it would be called patacones.
That's important information to keep in mind. Thank you so much for your response!
If you don’t mind, I can suggest some articles and videos to help you along with this. If you’re still looking/doing research.
This blog post has some very good examples of words used in Colombia but not in other latam countries.
I don't mind at all, I really appreciate the resources!!

It's taking a while to get my next piece done so in the meantime I thought I'd develop some rat ocs.
Bruno is a friend to all the rats who live in Casita but there are a few that have chosen him as close family. Due to having access to Julieta's cooking all the rats in Encanto have much longer lifespans btw :]
+ Bonus first meeting!
Propkit final + closer pics
This movie is very important to me <3 so I thought I'd do a spread of my fav character, Bruno!
I don't have a lot of time due to finals but I had to draw this guy at least once or I was gonna burst.
Adoptables Available!!
I don't really post much art on my personal acount but money is tight 😳 and I thought I'd post the adoptables that didn't sell on instagram!
