Old friendship is like : I see pieces of you in every person I meet. You know exactly how I take my tea and I always remember to pick the tomato out of your sandwich. We don't talk for months. Your hugs feel like coming home. Sometimes I look at you and see a stranger. We know each others deepest hopes amd fears. I get jealous of anyone that makes you smile brighter than I can. Your love is the only stable thing I have in this world. We pretend we don't notice how far we've drifted apart. I would die for you in a heartbeat.
"Now i have to remember you for longer than I have known you."
"I am always soft for you, that's the problem. You could come knocking on my door five years from now and I would open my arms wider and say 'come here, it's been too long, it felt like home with you.' "

In French you don't really say "i miss you". You say "Tu me manques" - which is closer to "You are missing from me".
You are part of me, you are essential to my being. You are like a limb, an organ or blood. I cannot function without you. Beautiful.
"In Vietnamese, the word for missing someone amd remembering them is the same - nhớ. Sometimes when you as me over phone, Con nhớ mẹ không? I flinch thinking you meant - Do you remember me?
I miss you more than I remember you. "
