THE COLOR WILD / THINK AGAIN / SLEEPTALK

While researching Sleeptalk we found a show with our babes and two bands you should hear about. Think Again is a modern form of the dying scene from 2006 and The Color Wild is much of the same effect. While these seem like comparisons that most people wouldn’t like we’d like you to know that both bands manage to bring something new to the table of a tired sound. Think Again’s vocalist Robbie has such an energetically great performance that somehow manages to be a little bit Cali Sad Boi and mournful. Meanwhile The Color Wild has a great blend of the modern pop sounds and painfully sappy happy songs that they somehow manage to turn every bad day around. This is probably gonna be one of the better local shows the Sacramento area will get this month.

DISCO SHRINE / SHY 

Disco Shrine is THE LA based dynamic duo of dream pop

They came out of nowhere, landing a feature of their amazing video for “SHY” on Obey Magazine(LINK). Click the link to see the video and read the great review they got by someone who obviously can write 1000% better than us. Also, they’ll be playing Silverlake Lounge soon if you want to go support them. We found this flyer while DATA Mining THRDVSN.com which we assume is accurate and thought it should be shared.

THRDVSN / ALWAYS HAVE A SECRET PLAN

Wow, just wow. Check out this Los Angeles 6 piece bringing the 90′s vibe rock. They just released a EP they did with Producers Rob Kinelski(Big Sean) and David Baker(Hollywood Undead) and it’s killer! Also, their member Lynnzee seems familiar. If you watch American Idol you might have recognized her from the group Milk and Cookies in the current season.

CASINO HEARTS : SELFISH/SELFLESS LIVES

Do you want to cry? Check out this album and get carried away into the Nevada sunset by Casino Hearts AKA Jacob Rubeck. Imagine if you ate the tape from your parent honeymoon VHS and went swimming in a lake under a warm starlit night. Nothing about this music is expected but the soft muted pain you feel in the back of your head as you drift to sleep in a cruel world. Literally just go buy this album on bandcamp and die happy. Thank you Jacob Rubeck for making good music.

DRAEMHOUSE

This is some actually great music to chill out to on a windy rainy day when you have absolutely nothing to do but think about life. Seriously, try it. Draemhouse is four-piece from Seattle, WA with the most enjoyable melodies and soft toned guitar textures. Their visual aesthetic is just as pleasing as their music if you end up clinking through the links to their social media. Good content, good music? SOLD

THE GOOD WIVES

We wanted to take a moment and showcase a band from Seattle. This indie-rock quartet lays it on heavy with infectious hooks and noise drenched, energy driven tracks fill the dive bars of their area. There’s something to be said about a group of people that can go make a bar a happy place and these guys are it! Check out their music here!

STILL LIVING / FACE IT

Randomly stumbled across this pop punk & pizza band from California’s bay area and was pleasantly surprised. Normally bands making this kind of music are full of highschoolers or making money off of highschoolers but these guys are clearly not in either category. It’s refreshing to see a band so active in the DIY scene across their state and really teaming up with a lot of other great bands to create events for people to go and enjoy/make memories. Also, whoever is making their album art clearly is inspired by God himself. Check out their release here. Still Living / Face It

The internet is a strange place, a place where everything is possible and nothing is safe. It can be a great place to hide anything and everything. At any moment you can upload something and it can be brought from obscurity and reach a viral state that leaves half the population of more advance countries talking about it. This is not one of those times but we’d like to give it a go anyways. Here’s a track made by two people from the bad middle parts of California. BEDWEATHER is probably never going to get any more attention than this article, but for the creators behind it let’s all just assume they’re more than okay with that. Enjoy this shoegaze track from the nether regions of the internet if you’re one of the few people to stumble across it. Our sources indicate this is somehow affiliated to Floorplan Records which actually has some tapes from the awesome band TONER that is gonna be playing in socal all weekend which is the point of relevancy for this post.

SLEEPTALK / PURE EP

Southern California five piece SLEEPTALK recently Released an amazing EP that we felt like sharing. The PURE EP has brought a new approach to the tired Los Angeles Darkpop sound by adding an almost punk ethos and a deafening live sound to a very polished production. We expect them to be doing some traveling this summer as we know they recently signed onto Artery Management and that should be worth something, right? Regardless, if you get a chance to see them live you should go because it will definitely be something worth watching.
