The first aid kit could only do so much. Heād already used it to patch up the wounds from the last firefight. Making a face, Dredd made his way into the filthy, broken down washroom to finish cleaning up. He couldnāt afford to wait for backup. He couldnāt afford to let them catch him, bleeding out.
Drokking perps.
Never just one or two, oh no. Drokkinā animals had surrounded him and opened fire. His armor held off the worst, but theyād managed to get in a few good shots, leaving him bleeding and ready to put his LawGiver between his teeth. Better to check out on his own terms, than to let them take him hostage.Ā
But then the light bomb had gone off and he, blinded by the bomb, had crawled away to nurse his wounds.Ā
Inside the probably disease-ridden washroom, Dredd found himself sprawling into a cracked and useless bath tub. It had seen better days, but he just needed to finish patching up before he could head back out and make the perps die.
They were guilty. They had been judged, now it was time to mete out the punishment.
dreddsangel:
Anderson held up a hand as she stopped. Head tilting, she listened telepathically to make sure they were still alone, then nodded and wrapped a firm hand around his elbow to keep him steady.Ā āYou gonna make it, Dredd?ā her tone may have held itās usual detached, but the brown eyes that looked up at him were full of the emotions she hides.
Had he removed his helmet, she would have seen the scathing look he sent her way. As it was, only his mouth was visible. Lips tightening, he shook his head. āIāll be fine.ā Even if that wasnāt the case, he wasnāt going to die in a vermin-infested shithole like that.
āCourse, that seemed to be the case for most Street Judges. Dying in the most horrible of conditions. That heād lived as long as he had was a minor miracle.
He knew Anderson was just watching out for him, but there wasnāt time to alleviate her concerns. āLetās finish this.ā
And Anderson wouldnāt let him die there even if it meant dragging him out. She felt him well enough to know what he wanted.Ā
Continuing, she quickly judged one last perp. He had taken a shot at them, attempted murder of a Judge, sentence: death. As she gave her judgement there was no longer that hesitation there once was. Working alongside Dredd for so long, Cassi had found herself in manner of speaking.
Once they were out, she reached her LawMaster and gave the proper codes and reports for the wagons to come.Ā āI wouldnāt have let you die. My premonition will come true. You know that as well as I do.ā She winked at him, then slid her helmet on.
ā
|| HOLY SHIT I HAVENāT SEEN YOU IN AGES (Yes, I know youāve been on other blogs, but HOLY HELL)||
Joe grumbled something unintelligible and stared darkly ahead. Theyād been awake for.. he didnāt know how drokkinā long theyād been awake.
Control chirped on his wrist and he shut his eyes behind his visor, silently hating everything. More than he usually did.
āDredd.ā
āWeāre sending the GPS of an armed robbery in your area.ā
āOn it.ā
He sighed heavily and glanced her way. Just drokkinā great. Looks like they were gonna be sleeping in the tubes at the Hall when (if) they finally got done.
āReady, rookie?ā She wasnāt, of course. It slipped out. Habit.
dreddsangel:
Cassi was half asleep on her LawMaster when the control on Dreddās chirped. She took a deep breath and stretched cat-like to wake herself up. Glancing over at him, she raised a single brow.Ā āRookie, huh? Must be extremely tired Joey.ā She went to start the LawMaster and looked confused.Ā āSo am I.ā
He grunted. There would need to be coffee at some point. Preferrably intravenously. His LawMaster roared to life and he glanced her direction. There just wasnāt time (or words) to share. Theyād do their job and hopefully be able to get some rest. Soon.
Almost as one, the LawMasters roared to life and Cassi looked back at him. Coffee would keep her mind from wandering once her helmet was off. Which was why it had been left on while they waited. She found her mind picking at Joeās and wanting to read him. Something about wearing the helmet muffled her ability. It was safer this way. Easier.
As always, Cassi led the way driving almost as recklessly as he dd. They were like two speeding bullets moving through MegaCity.Ā

He wasnāt one to back down. Heād have stayed and finished the fight, but bleeding out and getting overwhelmed hadnāt made good tactical sense. Heād fled only to patch the wounds and get moving again. So when they entered the open bay, he stared around, grudgingly impressed.
Again and again, the rookie (though she wasnāt anymore) did things that impressed him. Hershey had been right to saddle her with him. After Peach Trees, there wasnāt anything she couldnāt do.
āLower levels were cleared, though itās hard telling where the perps are now.ā He grunted.Ā āYour show. Lead the way.ā Injured, though functional, Dredd deferred to Anderson. She could avoid any traps and pitfalls left by the perps, and keep them alive longer.
Many assumed her stature, being bare five foot tall, would hold her back. But it never did. In fact, it made the little blonde woman stronger. Well, not physically, but more resolute. More bullheaded. Perhaps the best choice for Dredd to work with in that sense.
Giving Dredd an acknowledging nod, she forged ahead. Using both the normal senses of sight and sound and the extra thought of telepathy and empathy to guide them back out of the block.
Dreams of Death
She should have been thankful he wasnāt a psychic like she was. Granted, had their roles been reversed, heād still have been a pretty drokkinā shitty psychic. Heād have used the skill to suss out perps, and execute on the spot.Ā
Absolute power and all that.
Still, at her words, he accepted and didnāt question it. Empathetic? I think not. Dredd took her comment at face value and straddled his own LawMaster, before giving her a pointed look. It was lost under the helmet, but that didnāt matter.Ā āLead the way..ā
Sometimes that was why she was grateful for being partnered up with the quiet judge. Some would try to talk to her, but him being completely unused to human interaction made it easier to work with. As he just kept working, so could she. She needed that. She needed to ignore what was going on in her mind.Ā
āYes, sir.ā She pressed the button to look at the latest crimes.Ā āHow about the block riot in Placid Pines?ā
We NEED sequels so that down the road Anderson can totally say shit like this to Dredd. Go sign the petition.
Girls don't want 50 Shades of Grey. Girls want a Dredd Sequel already.
⢠(All muses, you are kick ass!)
Thank you, bby <3
Any time darlinā!
He accepted the sending, though he truly didnāt have the basis for comparison. Love? What was love? Heād never really worried about it prior to her arrival in his life. And even now, there was a detachment from it.
āIām glad one of us understands this.ā He grunted, gaze dropping to that hand on his bicep. Touch. Another thing he didnāt quite grasp. There were no companionable slaps on the shoulders from his fellow Judges. There was no touching.
She was a conundrum. A puzzle. And he meant to solve it.
It didnāt hurt her that he didnāt understand. She loved him anyway and would teach him whatever he wanted to learn. In his own way he was a puzzle too, and she was determined to take him apart and settle herself inside all of that.Ā
Dreams of Death
A premonition is defined as a foreboding feeling or a warning in advance. All Cassi knows about them is that all of hers come true. From the first one she had about her parents dying, to the last one she had about meeting and loving Dredd. Each and everyone came true. No matter how dark and dismal.
Thatās why when Cassi dreamed of her own death, she was shaken to the core. Terrified for the first time in years. Nothing could alter this premonition. She had no clue when it would happen or how. Just that she would find herself on a pile of bones, staring into darkness.
Something would take her soul from her. Devour it as if it were caviar. How could she stop this from happening? It was so terrifying that she couldnāt even put it into words the next day when she was at work with Dredd.Ā
Heād noted that she was unusually subdued. The blonde Judge was normally fairly talkative, making up for the lack of chatter from the senior Judge. Dredd just didnāt see the need for small talk. Though, if it kept her content, he let her ramble. Only because she was one of the best heād seen in ages. And while he might be a little biased on the whole mutant thing, he understood that it was a boon rather than a curse.
Itād saved him countless times. Saved them both.
So seeing her a little withdrawn, Dredd was understandably curious as to what had happened to shut the small woman up.Ā āSomeone say something about you not wearing your helmet?ā Heād been asked about it, and had remained mum on the topic.
She was distracted by over focusing on the job. Actually having driven more safely on her LawMaster earlier out of her need to focus on something other than what was rattling around in her mind.
So when Dredd spoke, she didnāt answer right away. Shaking her head she stared blankly at him a moment.Ā āUh, no. Just... focusing. Staying on task today.ā She kept moving. Keep moving, keep working. It keeps the nightmare away.Ā She kept telling herself as she moved.

He stood unsteadily and shook his head.Ā āNo idea.ā Man of many words, Dredd. He regarded her quietly, considering what had happened.Ā āWe donāt have to tell them what happened.ā It was almost criminal, that he was considering omitting information. But this was Anderson.
Anderson had saved his ass on multiple occasions. She didnāt deserve being tossed into the proverbial meatgrinder and tested like some guinea pig.
āCome on. We have work to do.ā They had a Block to clear, though from the sounds of it, Anderson did a damned good job of that.
Nodding softly, she gave him a smile.Ā āThanks Dredd. I donāt want to live through that again.ā She helped him get his armor back on and made sure his wounds were healing as much as they could with the stitching, antibiotics, and wrapping sheād done.
Once satisfied, she gave him a nod and headed out first. Only taking point because she hadnāt been injured and had more left in her arsenal.
Most of the perps had been killed or had fled when she took over for Dredd. Sheād earned a reputation similar to his.Ā

Random HeadcanonĀ
His shoulders... so strong, so perfect. Whether heās taken out perps, holding her, or just reaching for something, those shoulders make Cassi shudder. They hold many things, many burdens. To be the one that shares those burdens makes Cassi proud.Ā
All her life, Cassi wanted to forget what it was like to have real emotions. But once she saw his face, it all came back to her. The premonitions of love, of being human. Something other than the Law. Something forbidden, yet beautiful in its own way.
