CHARACTER SUMMARY.
growing up as the first born son painted an image in drew’s mind early on. he had to set an example for his younger brother adam, though he was only older by a year, being a role model wasn’t something he took lightly. sports came easy to him, excelling at every sport his father and mother dared to have him try. drew slowly became the golden boy, what he lacked in academic success was often made up for with charm and athleticism. he dabbled through college, giving it his best try while his athletic scholarship carried him to graduation. the pressure of success led him to find a hobby that allowed him to let loose — beyond the occasional relationship he always managed to screw up — boxing. it started off as a simple hobby, but as the pressure of life increased so did the training and love for mma fighting. dumb luck led him to his first official match, luckily the team leader was desperate and found drew working out at his usual gym. his career started to take off, an undefeated streak to his name before he disappeared from the lineup completely due to one too many concussions making it impossible to compete legally. then things were quiet for a few months until he appeared behind the bar at nova and he's been trying to find himself again ever since.
"tell me it's not just me...this is weird, right?" drew questioned without turning his head in her direction. he kept his voice low to be respectful, but the more he looked around it seemed like not everyone was on the same page. "i feel like this funeral has a lot more media use than usual — and that's coming from me."

she would be lying if she said she hadn't thought about him since their break up. the thought of reaching out, asking if he was doing okay and what he's been up to came to mind, before thinking it was better to leave things as they are. communication was two ways after all, she didn't need to be the first one to reach out. nonetheless, there are moments she catches herself hoping he's doing alright. what she didn't expect though was running into him face to face.
the idea of turning around and pretending she didn't notice him immediately popped up, but was too stubborn to stray from her path. “hey,” she spoke quietly at first. “i'm surprised to see you around.”
it was kind of impressive how much they managed to miss each other while living in the same building — almost like he planned it on purpose. he’d been able to create a pretty decent streak of being undetected, one that was perfectly executed…until now. “hey.” he responded back, shit, can’t exactly pretend she isn’t there now. “well, you know, this place makes the best coffee in town. it sucks trying to start a day without it.” somehow this was easier than being forced to talk back home — he wasn’t going to question it. “what about you? how did you find this place?”
" wait -- you spent how much on fran's stream last week? "
THE QUESTION RINGS OUT in the air as he sits across from his friend, the mixed aroma of diner food dancing in the air -- coming from the mass of diner food positioned between the two of them. was this a common conversation between the two of them? perhaps. not that thiago necessarily minded, considering it gave him an excuse to talk about josie. he kept most of his feelings close to his chest, as if talking about them would cause something to go wrong. at this rate though, perhaps it was best that a friend intervene. " have you ever thought of just... talking to her in the hallway or something? probably much cheaper than blowing your entire grocery budget. " he was one to talk, considering how flustered he found himself getting around her roommate. he had literally bought her food from the resturant the night before. how more obvious could he get?
“why does it feel like you’re judging me?” they’d had a form of this conversation many times before and tonight was just another to add to the collection. “i don’t know, it was like — 200? so i got less beer than usual, sav can buy more.” it was the least drew could do to support the woman of his dreams’ passions. “at least i can have a normal interaction with her and form actual sentences unlike some of us. wait — you don’t think she’ll only like me because i’m a too donator, do you?” she definitely noticed his effort, that want his problem, but drew couldn’t help but wonder if that’s all it was. “what if that’s our normal?”
"i have seen and experienced the way you pour at home, you're a weakling," savannah joked with her roomie. the pair had decided to go out for a few rounds as opposed to just chilling at home. it was probably best for the blonde to get some social interactions that was outside of work. "if you're willing to prove yourself though, have at it. i'm feeling mighty brave tonight."
“woah woah woah, those are swear words savvy.” drew told her, lifting both of his hands in a mock surrender. “at home is a different demon — dipping into your own stash requires different tactics. i could help you, but if my pour is such a problem — i don’t know, maybe you’d rather wait another forty five minutes to put a drink order in.” he teased, shrugging his shoulders with his words. “how good are you at playing lookout?”
"Do you think it's a good idea?" Fran asked nervously. "Or do you think people will think it's insensitive to raise money through my stream to donate to Devon's family or funeral or just anything?" She rambled on as she came to a sudden stop to catch her breath. Fran had been pondering the thought since the news had broke. Suddenly she gasped slightly, hand resting on her chest as she looked at the other in fear. "What if they cancel me?"
“i don’t think you should advertise it.” drew told her simply, knowing some could see it as her wanting the attention for herself — like she couldn’t do that without a tagline. “instead, you wait until after it’s over and make a heartfelt tribute post — that’s when you announce you’re donating money.” he shook his head at her words, not seeing any reason to worry. “that’s not going to happen.”

“that’s not going to work,” he said to the person beside him, raising his voice over the music. “she’s been swamped all night — you’ll have to do something really amazing to get her attention at this rate.” nova was in the middle of training new help, the poor girl behind the bar already buckling under the pressure, and it was drew’s night off. a quick glance over his shoulder confirmed no one was paying him or his guest any mind — which meant opportunity. “though,” he added, his mouth curving into something dangerous, eyes flicking toward the bottles lined up behind the bar, “though I could be persuaded to help out — if you’re brave enough.”
