all i need to know that it is a break and not one of those "breaks" that bands say they're taking but never actually get back together. because if not i'm going to protest. can't say what it's like to be a single artist because i'm not a singer but i can say going from a giant show where i had this team that's like my family to working on projects that you only have this little bit of time with people is a huge change up and makes things feel weird. makes you remember to appreciate those times a little more when you get those chances.

It is a break and not one that we won't be coming back from! We've done it before, we'll do it again. Mikey having a kid definitely made us realize that we wanted some time apart from traveling the world touring, and I don't blame him. It's definitely similar! I can only imagine how hard it was leaving the huge masterpiece that Game of Thrones is. Especially going to smaller projects afterwards. It's gotta feel a bit like pumping the brakes a little too hard.

not the norm for people in bands with their brothers, too... but that's only because when when we took a break, there wasn't a chance to miss them since i saw their asses all the time anyways. sick stuff on the solo stuff, man. you're going to kill that scene and i know things suck right now being away from the boys but all this time will make that reunion sweeter, trust me.

I'd trust you more than most, honestly. Knowing you've been through it before. I know the guys are going to be sick of me before we even come back, because I'll still be annoying their asses. They can't get rid of me that easily! I know they aren't exactly biological brothers, but when you've been a group as long as we have, it sure starts to feel like it.

Can't relate. My bandmates kicked me out - no, that's too kind and implies they told me about it. They just up and started posting with a new drummer one day. So, with that being said, I'm very much team solo artist on this one. When's your solo stuff dropping?

That's such a bummer, man, I'm sorry. It sucks when the whole group starts to not veg together and then they create "cliques" and oust others. But I'm sure you're better off now without them. Soon! I know it's a non-answer, but in the coming months.

——- You definitely have me curious but my music career is only in films i do, haven't done anything passed by been told to one day. so, how's the solo stuff going ? i imagine the break will have you guys coming back together releasing all the best new stuff though and i'm here for that .

The solo stuff is going well! The fans aren't super happy that I've been drumming with another band during the hiatus, but I just want to make music. And I have the boys' blessings. Its not like I'm not going to come back to 5SOS when we're all ready to go again. I think it will too! We'll all be rested and I know we never really stop working on music. I already have plenty of pages full in my band-specific notebook ready to go.

Ashton: Ahh, same old Harry as you've always been. I mean you can care, but it's weird that you asked out of the blue. Ashton: What are you even talking about, Harry Ashton: Denial? With Luke? Dating someone else? I'm single now, but there's been relationships since our days touring together.

Sometime soon is very ominous when it comes to musicians. That could mean tomorrow or it could mean three months from now. I get it, dude. I write mostly with my band mates - they've been my writing partners for years. But changing it up for solo things - scary. Coming back together to create with your band is so special. Now that I've done the solo stuff a couple times - couldn't imagine going it alone again. I'm too in love with Paramore.

That's true, but it's more like the coming weeks than months. It's just nailing down the release dates and not having to worry about competing with some of those bigger than me artists like Taylor or Zayn or anyone else. Honestly that's great to hear. As great as your solo stuff is, your group is too special to never grace the world again.

you musicians live such different lives than us actors, it's amazing to see you all go through this and the different roads you take and then how it all just comes back some day. it's like same style but different font or however that saying goes.

That's a good way to put it! I don't know if I could ever be an actor. To be able to slide into different roles, and different characters and mindsets? I'd get so confused, I feel like I wouldn't be able to keep them all separate.

i feel like a lot of you go through that over the years, it sucks that you miss them so much. but sometimes breaks are needed. i think the 1D boys and little mix are probably in the same place as you. not that i've ever been in your place but us actors kind of understand the feeling when a long running series finally comes to a close.

Oh for sure! It's been nice to reconnect and talk with some of them about their own feelings and how they've attacked it within their own band hiatuses. I can see how it would be similar? Or even if you're in a franchise and the way it feels between filming breaks for each movie.

I get that. And your sound is probably different than the band's so of course you're also excited to get that out there. The guys are still around, aren't they? So if you need them, you can just call them. I know you and Luke are working on solo music, Michael just became a dad so that's keeping him busy but what's Calum doing? Yeah, it's been a long time now. Thanks for those kinds words, mate. Some of us have struggled a bit more than others but I think we're all proud of what we've achieved up until now.

Honestly? I have no idea what Calum is doing. He's like a bear, going back in his cave when he's not needed and minding his own business. But he deserves a break too, I'm sure if he gets up to anything we'll know. I definitely have a playlist where I still listen to you guys in your solo career. And struggle or not, I know you all have fans that will always be in your corner. You're killing the game with your tour and the documentary you put out? Was amazing.
