I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about transitioning and needing help. I feel the need to put out a resource for people to see.
If you need help with anything for transitioning, I implore you to reach out to a company called Point of Pride. They will help you with anything you need with transitioning. I am not part of Point of Pride, but I donate to them. There is a resource for you if you are transitioning. You are NOT alone.

Keep seeing posts in solidarity with the WGA strike that say things like “no one cares about your favorite shows” and “fuck your tv show. I hope it gets canceled” and while I understand and agree with the underlying sentiment, which is clearly “Real people are more important than fictional ones, you dipshit” I don’t like the framing because, well, it feels shitty to dismiss the importance of the work made by the workers we’re trying to defend.
No one cares about your favorite shows more than the writers do.
No one understands the power and importance of tv and film more than the writers who created them.
No one loves tv, movies, games, and stories more than the people who fought tooth and nail in an incredibly competitive and underpaid profession for the chance to be part of it.
They know it’s important. They know it changes lives. They know it can be more than just a story, more than just a bit of entertainment. They’ve loved and respected this medium, continue to love and respect this medium, more than you ever will.
The person who wants a show to get canceled the least is the writer who poured their everything into making it good.
TV and movies are great, actually, and you are not wrong to be invested and care about them. That’s what the writers gave you. That’s what the writers wanted when they wrote it. That’s why they wrote it.
Which is why we respect them when they make the call that this strike and its demands are worth risking it.
The people on that picket line do not want their shows canceled. They want to keep writing them. They can’t, not under the current conditions.
So we accept the risk with them and support them.
But I don’t want to berate the power and importance of their work, the value they put into it and the love they have for it, in the same breath that I am defending their strike. Worthy shows will likely get canceled or derailed and that will be a tragedy worth mourning. The writers know that better than anyone.
So when they say something else is even more important, we listen. And when your favorite show gets ruined, you make sure your fully justified anger and grief is pointed in the right direction - at the CEOs who killed it.
Concerned citizens armed with fanfiction and the "Bee Movie" script took down a government-run website in Missouri.
Good.

Here's the ADHD Checklist! I finally made it, it's originally from this post. But I've put it in a more easy to read manner.
Requested by: @partykeet I hope this helps!
If you don't know if you have ADHD or not but have an inkling you might, these are important questions to consider when self diagnosing and researching into the disorder!
Executive Dysfunction
Do you struggle with getting things done?
Do you mean to do it and you don’t?
Do you feel overwhelmed by trying to do it?
Do you forget to do it?
Do you feel like you can’t for whatever reason?
Emotional Dysregulation
Are you often told you’re overemotional?
Are you told you overreact?
Do you feel like you can’t control your emotions?
Do you often go from one emotion to the next?
Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD)
Do you react strongly without meaning to?
Do you get really depressed after wearing yourself out?
Do you feel awful after someone’s criticized you?
Do you often spiral when something goes wrong?
Do you feel like you can perk back up when that person asks you what’s wrong?
Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome
Do you have a hard time waking up?
Do you have a hard time going to bed?
Do you have very vivid dreams?
Are you aggressive and irritable when someone wakes you up (for like, school)?
Do you struggle keeping a consistent sleep schedule over vacation or summer break, even on the weekends?
Inattention(Dissociation) and Hyperfocus
Do you often zone out?
Do you daydream?
Do you get disinterested often?
Do you feel like you can multitask (listen to music and read at the same time)?
Do you get so absorbed in something that when you return to reality, hours have passed by?
Hyperfixation and Emotional Hyperarousal
Do you have “obsessions” or things that feel incredibly pleasurable/taste good when you interact with them?
Do you have a loud mind that runs a thousand miles a minute?
Do you feel overwhelmed or stressed out by your mind?
Do you overthink or overanalyze things?
Is your head really foggy or thoughts blurry?
Working Memory, Inattention and Object Permanence
Do you seem to have memory problems?
Like you cant remember something someone told you to do (homework, chores)?
Or you easily lose things, having it just been there?
Do you forget that things exist after having them put away?
Do you forget important things like birthdays, dates and numbers, but remember other “trivial” things?
Do you have a hard time remembering the past or your childhood?
Stimulation and Stimming
Does listening to music help you get things done?
Do you need to watch something while you’re eating and get distracted if you don’t?
Do you feel dissociated or distracted when you can’t listen to music or have your phone out?
Do you constantly fidget, shake your legs, play with parts of things?
Do you feel like if you try to stop fidgeting, you’ll feel an urge to do it more?
Do you have a million phone games?
Do you feel like some games aren’t enough to play on their own but some are too much that you can’t focus on anything else?
"Money Blindness" and Impulsivity
Do you have trouble with money when given control over it?
Do you spend money on things other people find pointless or useless?
Do you have trouble with microtransactions?
Do you feel like when you buy something that you’ll have enough money left for things you need?
Are you often broke? Especially if you claimed that you would save money?
Do you often feel like the consequences of buying something aren't that serious?
Time Blindness
Do you have a hard time keeping track of time?
Do you feel like you’re often late to things?
If not, do you have anxiety, and often panic about the time?
Do you often have a hard time keeping a schedule?
Do people say you have poor time management skills, but no matter what you do, you can’t fix it?
Habits, Executive Dysfunction and Disorganization
Do you have poor hygiene?
Do you struggle to remember to brush your teeth?
Is it hard taking a bath/shower? If so, does it take a long time to get into the bath or shower?
If left to your own devices do you wear the same outfit for days?
Do you often look disheveled despite trying to be organized and clean?
Do you often rub off makeup or have messy hair?
Do you try to be organized but no matter what, you can’t?
Boundaries, RSD, and Volume Control
Do you struggle with boundaries?
Do you have a hard time controlling your volume (either too loud or too quiet)?
Do you feel like you’ve ruined everything when someone tells you that you did something wrong?
Do you think you’ve offended people when you haven't?
Do you have a hard time judging reality correctly (like you think you’ve offended or hurt someone and you feel awful but it didn’t bother them that much)?
Disclaimer: Don't say someone who self diagnoses is faking. If you relate to these questions and symptoms, you definitely are not faking. ADHD is a disability that is incredibly hard to manage. People who have it don't like it as they have likely struggled all their life. Being undiagnosed and unmedicated is damaging and traumatizing. Be kind to people, especially if they don't have access to medical help.
Florida students are participating in Walkout 2 Learn: a walkout across schools in protest of anti-LGBTQ censorship of underrepresented communities in education.
Some Florida students are opting to skip class for part of Friday, choosing to learn a banned history lesson instead.
Hundreds of high school and college students across the Sunshine State are walking out of classrooms as part of a protest organizers say is against the state government’s censorship and erasure when it comes to race and gender identity in education.
At noon, they’ll check their voter registration status, send a letter to local school board members and Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis pledging they’ll use their vote to defend students’ rights, and take part in a five-minute banned history lesson that will focus on censorship and historic figures in Black and LGBTQ history.
It’s all part of Walkout 2 Learn: a youth-led statewide walkout and rally in defiance of Florida’s crackdown on lessons surrounding race and Black history along with a string of anti-LGBTQ laws that are impacting students.
my dad, trying to explain the concept of money to me: say you have a sandwich, and i need your sandwich. but i don't have anything to give you. you're not just gonna give it to me.
me: i would just give it to you.
my dad:
in elementary school we had. basically an immersive economics lesson that was "playing City," with different jobs and businesses; it was mostly semi-free time for socializing and selling/buying toys and snacks from each other. one of the lessons we were supposed to learn was the importance of paying a small amount of money into health and/or business insurance, because you had a chance of being hit with the Daily Disaster and a huge bill.
anyway, some kid who didn't buy insurance got hit with a "medical bill" early on, so he was supposed to be bankrupt and have to sit the rest of the game out. the 8 year olds were not having it and spontaneously invented crowdfunding so he could keep playing with everyone else.
kids who don't 'get it' are right, actually
endlessly, morbidly fascinated by how when you're a kid you're constantly having parents, school, religion, media, all drumming it into your head that Sharing Is Good And You Need To Do It, and then you grow up and suddenly they're all like right never mind all that, this is The Real World and it's every bastard for himself
Check you privilege every day
[Image ID: Screenshot of social media post by user Cat_LeFey at pagan.plus that reads,
My kid is in a club at school, and they meet 4 times a week for 4 hours. So all the parents chip in and stock a snack cabinet (granola bars, juice boxes, etc.) because teenagers are hungry goblins.
I went to fill the cabinet and notice a padlock on it, apparently someone had been "stealing."
I admit, this triggered me.
I spoke to the coach and told him that perhaps he should talk to the kids and find out if one them is food insecure instead of locking up some two dollar box of granola bars.
The look on his face, I could tell it kinda clicked, he didn't even think of that, just assumed it was some punk kid breaking rules.
People who grow up with wealth don't even realize that it changes the way they think.
Luckily, he's a cool guy, and he was horrified that one of his kids might be hungry at home.
Sometimes it just takes one comment to open up someone's eyes to their privilege.
As I tell my own children: If you see someone stealing food, no you didn't. End ID]
The odds of being guillotined by a French mob are low but never zero.
Idk how to explain to you that the end goal has never been to turn oppression around and do it to someone else
If what you dislike about the current system is that you’re not the one on top doing the oppressing… Ur not as good of a person as u think u are lol
#this bothers me about a lot of tumblr Discourse #that gleefully inverts vocabulary of derision and exclusion #instead of saying: maybe norms of oppression are bad actually (via oldshrewsburyian)
*through gritted teeth* you are not a child taking a test with the purpose of getting the highest score, you are an adult trying new things and finding ways to enjoy your life, make mistakes, be a beginner, be mediocre, be where you need to be, be unlikeable, just. be.
I want to talk about the tumblr filtering system.
The filtering system on tumblr is extremely helpful for me, because I can choose to censor posts with tags that trigger me, but I can still choose to view the post if I want to. It let's me know what I am getting into first.
This has been very helpful for me, because on other social media I cannot do that.
This is why I'm super okay with people asking me to tag things, even if it's not an issue to me. Because my experience of the world is different!
As someone that can't handle images of moths, I honestly understand needing this tagged, even if they seem silly to others!
NEVER trust an adult who won’t apologize to a child
Wow. I’d never seen it put that way, but. Wow. That is a really good piece of advice.
Reminds me how you should never trust a grown man who hate cats witha burning rage
i just saw the phrase "unregistered molotov cocktails" in a news article and im really enjoying imagining this world where you have to register molotovs to the state

Putting The Whale in Cultural Context; Why it’s Misrepresentation Matters (1 hr)
I watched Sara’s review of the book and discussion on casting for The Whale, and cried along with her. Don’t have the spoons to watch this one, which is a more polished and formal cultural analysis of the Oscars and misrepresentation of minorities and marginalized folks.
Video description includes links to other videos and articles on bury your gays, the problem of the single story, inspiration porn, the maintenance phase podcast, the origins of the Oscars, misrepresentation of minorities by the majority, about Autism Speaks, and about Obesity Action Coalition.
Putting The Whale in Cultural Context; Why its Misrepresentation Matters (1 hr)
“Hollywood has been in a rush to praise this film and this performance despite overwhelming criticism from fat people. It seems many people do not understand why misrepresentation matters or the cultural context in which it exists. I have tried my best to explain some of the harmful tropes it traffics in and below you’ll find further resources on some of them.” - The Fat Culture Critic (Sara)
