Thinking about tarnma role swap au where Pharma is leader of the DJD and Damus is CMO of Delphi. Perhaps a deviation happened that led them to different paths. Maybe Pharma never got an exemption to be a medic as a flight frame and grew bitter with time and ended up joining the Decepticons. Perhaps Megatron makes him think he’s special and even confides at one point he wanted to be a medic too as a purposeful way to make Pharma feel like someone understands him. Promises him that he’s going to give Pharma the chance to be a doctor that the world never allowed if he serves the Decepticons. After four million years Pharma has invented oh so many biological weapons and viruses for the Decepticon Cause. His original dream of being a great doctor and helping others corrupted and twisted over time. As leader of the DJD he hunts down traitors and when he catches them uses them to test his medical theories and research before ultimately killing them. He calls those on the List his List of Patients.

He has become a skilled and innovative surgeon though his medical education is nowhere near formal. However, he has honed his craft throughout the years and is known to be able to mend some of the most grievous injuries that most others would fail at. However, if it’s an enemy he has healed they’d probably rather be safely dead as Pharma “saving” them usually spells a worse fate as he uses them as test subjects for his medical curiosity. A brilliant doctor, but absolutely terrifying. And he is oh so inventive with his torture methods.

Meanwhile, perhaps by chance Damus manages to figure out a bit more control over his abilities sooner and finds that his voice can be used to manipulate a person’s spark. Except in this universe he finds that though he could use it to snuff out a spark he can also coax a spark from the brink of death. Though he never reveals he can use it to kill considering how shady the Senate is and he doesn’t trust the government not to force him to use it for horrible purposes. However his ability to stabilize and coax a person’s spark from the brink of death is seen as very valuable in the medical field and he’s assigned medic training with an exemption which is a step up from his previous jobs he was stuck in. Being a medic wasn’t really his dream, but he likes feeling useful helping patients and saving their lives. Makes him feel like he’s part of something bigger. He’s a decent medic, but he’s no Pharma or Ratchet when it comes to skill. Though his outlier ability makes him almost like a specialist for more precarious cases where the patient is in more critical condition. He does a lot of first response rescue where he can keep the patient hanging on until they can receive more in depth medical treatment.

This also leads to role reversal of Pharma toying with Damus and blackmailing him in this au instead of the other way around. Though since Pharma isn’t addicted to transforming he has no need for t-cogs. When Pharma visits the facility to meet with Damus to threaten him, Damus asks him what he wants. Of course Damus knows who this is and the DJD’s reputation, internally he is terrified but he’s trying not to show it. Pharma leaning in close with a mischievous smile that brings absolutely no comfort to the other as Pharma tilts Damus’ head up with his hand to meet his eyes and says “I want you”.

Seeing Damus tensing Pharma says to Damus “oh don’t worry I won’t kill you unless you give me a reason to. You’re much too precious. No I want you as my test subject. My special patient if you will. I want to see the limits of that spark of yours and what that ability can do. What medical limits could be reached with it with a bit of push.”

Damus vehemently refusing to be Pharma’s lab rat test subject.

Pharma responding to his refusal: And here I thought you cared for your patients and your team. I’m less inclined to kill such a precious subject such as yourself. However, I can’t say the same for the rest of the facility~

Pharma essentially gives him the ultimatum of be my test subject or I’ll have the DJD raze the place to the ground and your team and the rest of the people in your little hospital will become my new patients in your place. How many of their lives are worth yours I wonder? Or maybe I’ll release this new virus I’ve concocted into your facility and see how it ravages them all into a puddle of rust.

Without much of a choice Damus agrees to being Pharma’s test subject in exchange for leaving Delphi alone. Of course Pharma is smart enough to figure out that Damus’ spark manipulation has the ability to harm as much as heal. He toys with Damus making him use his ability on those he’s captured from the List including using it to torture them and of course it escalates to Pharma ordering him to kill them too.

I really like KOBD for a lot of reasons, primarily because I really enjoy Breakdown as a character (he's like me fr....)

I just wanted to give a couple thoughts:

Breakdown was an ex-Wrecker, he is very strong. Not really too sure about how smart he is, but he doesn't seem to be himbo levels inadequate-in-the-processor.

I think this would translate to someone who is stern but also gentle, somewhat of a guiding light for people he cares about but very stern and quiet around people he isn't; a source of comfort for his loved ones, but an immovable wall for others. For Knockout, this translates into an unshakeable trust in him and his skills as both a person and a medic, he can turn his back on Knockout and doesn't have to worry about getting stabbed in the back. If Knockout spontaneously told Breakdown he needed emergency surgery now the man would just climb up onto the medical berth without a second thought.

Knockout is very meticulous. He likes being pretty, he is confident and absolutely knows his worth. This does translate to him being shallow and vain, but he is also very detail-oriented, which is what I think makes him a genuinely good medic.

Knockout is very smart, aside from the fact he is a medic, he does seem to have a basic comprehension of scientific processes and can execute them; that being said, this detail orientation also translates into being able to read others well. Knockout knows when to stop pressing buttons and what buttons are okay to press to get a rise out of people because he's able to suss out their mannerisms easily

And I think this is why Breakdown initially found him romantically appealing; I imagine Breakdown is actually rather shut off from other people. He's too anxious to actually let anyone in, especially in the Decepticon ranks, especially when he's a part of the most chaotically mentally unwell combiner squad there is. He follows orders to a T because he doesn't trust easy. The less he makes himself known, the better.

And then cue Knockout, who reads him like a book and is able to so effortlessly acknowledge his boundaries upon first meet while simultaneously being one of the only mechs to get a laugh and a rise out of the normally stoic mech; Knockout is able to get under his plating in such a way that it makes it actually enjoyable to be around him.

For Knockout, he enjoys the doting of course, Breakdown loves to pamper his loved ones, but it's also about being able to see Breakdown as he is. Knockout doesn't need Breakdown to change, he just needs him to be able to relax and have fun, and he does when he's with Knockout

This is an idea that had been mulling in my head, imagining that Cybertronian scars, being welded, are inherently a very beautiful thing.

Because difference in heat intensity and welding patterns create something entirely and beautifully unique with each scar, none are ever so alike between different bots or cons.

Tarn is an idiot because if he played his cards right he could have had a hot medic husband, but man fumbled a true baddie. Like Tarn I get you idolize Megatron and want to be like him, but that doesn’t mean you have to inherit Fumbletron 5000’s inability to not fumble a bad bitch. If Tarn wasn’t pulling all that nonsense he could have been experiencing kinks he didn’t even know existed. Pharma could have given him a true religious experience. I don’t know if it would necessarily fix him, but I think if Tarn had let Pharma dom him and walk him like a dog on a leash it would rewire something in Tarn’s brain chemistry. Like Pharma is a creative genius inventing and curing new diseases left and right and is a surgeon with intimate knowledge of Cybertronian anatomy as part of his job, he probably knows how to get a motor revving in ways we cannot even imagine. A fool. This is why the writer says you’ve never fucked in your life Tarn.
