Their farce is already cracking, but clearly, the two are trying desperately to hold it together with tape and some silly string. “Pit” is trying his best, but he doesn’t do peppy errand boy. Not today, for some reason. He laughs, but it’s more nervous laughter than genuine. ❝ The human world? I mean — of course! The human world! There’s…there’s bad guys to shoot, right? We’re not just…visiting? ❞

Meanwhile, for “Dark Pit” back at the temple, it’s kind of funny watching “Pit” get dragged off to go be nice to the humans — a bit of a prank within a prank, if you will. But the mention of getting food after takes precedence in his head, unfortunately. He’s letting all the suppressed longing out the second Palutena is out of earshot.

❝ They’re getting dinneeer… ❞

          { 女神 } ❝ nope! no bad guys to fight! the underworld army is gone, the forces of nature are playing nice, and the aurum haven’t been seen since their initial invasion. nope, we’re just going to be nice to the humans, so they keep being nice to us back! ❞

❝ and i know how much you care about the humans, pit, so this time i’m gonna let you do all the talking! isn’t that special? i can’t wait to hear all the nice, positive, uplifting things you have to say about the humans! the humans we BOTH care about so, so much! ❞

Oh, they’re totally busted. But that doesn’t mean they’re not gonna try to keep it together. Wait — is “Dark Pit” shaking?

Meanwhile, “Pit’s” response seems weirdly forced. Which would be hilarious to anyone who knows what’s going on. ❝ Ican’tbelieveIagreedtothis — O-Of course, Lady Palutena! Yup. You’re right. You’re my goddess. And there’s nothing weird going on here. ❞ Is that a cry for help?

          { 女神 } ❝ glad to hear it! so happy to have such a loyal and hard-working angel on my side like you, pit. now then, let’s go! first, we have to visit the human world! we have to make sure to be nice to them so they keep praying to us, after all! ❞

clearly having far too much fun with this, she grabs ‘pit’ by the hand and begins to lead him off.

let’s see how long they’re willing to keep this up.

He clears his throat — and suddenly remembers to speak in a lower register. Interesting. ❝ I mean — brooding. Doom and gloom. Hot Topic. ❞

she walks forward and places a hand on ‘pit’s’ shoulder, the expression on her face making it clear she knew what was going on here. but that wasn’t gonna stop her from having fun with it.

❝ i have a very important mission for you to go on! you don’t mind, right? after all, i am your goddess, and you’re always so eager to do work for me! we can go get your favorite foods afterwaaaaaaaaaards~! ❞

❝ Are you sure you don't need help, Lady Palutena? ❞ Of course, Pit is always genuinely willing to help his goddess, be it by shooting down Underworld troops or just running to grab coffee. But the way he asks this time is laced with just a twinge of "I have a bad feeling about this," and a generous helping of "With all due respect." Then again, it's not like Pit's much better in the kitchen. ❝ N-Not even a pair of eyes to, y'know ... watch and make sure nothing comes to life and attacks again? ❞

                  { 女神 } ❝ i find your lack of faith disturbing. ❞

she deepens her voice as she says that for some reason. is it a reference? who knows. palutena makes a lot of references.

❝ c'mon, pit, don't you trust me? as your goddess, i would think i've earned a little bit of it, at least. ❞

she has a whole slew of vegetables in front of her, along with a sword to cut them with (yes, a sword, not a knife), and a cutting board. none of the vegetables seem alive right now, but the day's still young...
