          ❝  it’s  my  way  of  saying  that  if  I  can  fix  it,  it’s  going  to  be  hard,  ❞  Yusaku  tells  him,  tapping  along  with  the  program  he  has  running  to  analyze  the  hard  drive.  he’ll  admit  it,  he’s  a  bit  stumped  at  the  moment,  since  this  is  the  third  scan  he’s  done  on  it,  but  he’s  the  most  tech  savvy  person  in  this  dorm.  he’ll  figure  it  out.

          ❝  I  can’t  tell  if  it’s  hardware  or  software  failure,  which  isn’t  making  it  easy.  hold  off  on  calling  your  grandparents  yet,  I’m  still  —  ❞  Yusaku  cuts  himself  off  when  his  three  monitors  flash,  glitch  and  then  promptly  blue  screen.  he  lurches  forward  and  forces  a  restart,  watching  in  dazed  horror  as  the  same  sequence  happens  during  the  start  up  phase.

          pursing  his  lips,  he  sits  back  in  his  chair  and  mumbles  quietly,  ❝  you  might  want  to  call  your  grandparents.  ❞

“ ..Aw man, I knew it was actually busted this time! ”

Takeru’s loud complaint was like a shot compared to Yusaku’s mumbled whisper, promptly followed by the fiery duelist letting his forehead crash down on the desk in defeat. Takeru definitely wouldn’t brag about not knowing anything about technology. In fact, the only proud thing he could say was that he didn’t know computers at all -- but he never would’ve expected his laptop to break this fast on him either!

Eventually pulling his head back up from the crumpled pile he’d let himself squish into, Takeru would glance up at the burning bright blue error screen.

“ Can you at least tell me what happened to it? Y’know, besides it just being dead in the water? ‘Cause if I’m gonna call my grandparents and beg them for more laptop money, I might as well have something believable to tell them this time. ”

The same hand that had come up to tap her nose lowered again, this time to ruffle Yuga’s hair affectionately, but gently. His innocence never failed to put a smile on her lips, and when paired with a mystery like the one he’d just discovered, she couldn’t help but let it spread from ear to metaphorical ear! “Is it now? Then that sounds like the one we should be following - It could be on a cart that had to move, but we’ll never know unless we make it a breezy adventure!”

She needed a better name for that, Sera decided. ‘Breezy Adventure’ sounded like a silly children’s book based on clouds, but she’d keep that to herself - There was a legitimate adventure on their hands now, and she was all too eager to explore it with him! “I bet you there’s something good on the other end of the wind if we can find it again. That’s something about it, you know? The wind can’t lie with scents. It picks them up and carries them, brings them right to you, but it can’t cover them - So if it smelled good, that’s the breeze’s way of saying we should follow it.So what do you think, Yuga?”

Sera paused, taking two steps forward before turning to offer the boy her hand, eyes alight with excitement and the promise to keep him safe. As much as she’d taken to playing up the adventure angle, hoping to keep him entertained and to find something for lunch, the town was still new to them both - He’d be as lost as she would be once they started away from the inn, and above all else, she wanted to make sure he knew he’d be in good hands. “Should we take on this adventure together and find ourselves the source of our runaway scent?”

She was being so cheesy with this ‘adventure’ of theirs, Yuga quickly decided with a small laugh, but he’d keep any hint of that comment to himself! A ‘breezy adventure’ wasn’t really what they needed when the source of their ‘runaway scent’ could be pretty easily explained in a realistic way, too.

The food they were after really was on a moving food cart whose trek had shifted their target out of the breeze, or-

“ You don’t think the place where the food was coming from could’ve closed up for the day already though, do you? ‘Cause the city here doesn’t have as many good smells like that after sunset and some of the restaurants do close up early. ”

Even Yuga had ventured around enough to have learned that much already, and if that were the case, maybe they would’ve been better of just shopping for a meal instead. Yuga might’ve been young, but he’d already possessed a pretty smart brain and inventing stuff was a quick learned passion of his!

Sera could always plop a bunch of ingredients in front of him and let Yuga’s imagination attempt something edible. That might’ve been even more fun -- and would’ve saved Sera the embarrassment of being so cheesy, too.

         ❝  I  can  think  of  a  couple  in  my  mind  that  do  not  spark  joy  when  I  remember  them.  ❞  although  Takeru  had  a  point,  Yusaku  could  name  at  least  four  Link  VRAINS  related  incidents  where  a  stronger  word  was  warranted  for  the  wrong  reason.  and  on  that  note,  any  conversation  he’d  had  with  Ruri  ever  also  fell  on  the  list.

         ❝  you’ll  probably  hear  some  colorful  words  from  me  anytime  now.  ❞  that  was  an  understatement,  the  duelist  glancing  over  at  his  computer  where  he  is  still  attempting  to  defragment  Takeru’s  hard  drive.  that  was  the  first  step,  at  least,  to  figuring  how  what  the  hell  is  wrong  with  it.

“ ...so I guess that’s your way of saying you really can’t fix it then, huh? Just great- ”

Because with the completely defeated sigh that’d left Takeru right then at that, Yusaku didn’t need to pull out any of those ‘extra colorful words’ for his friend to know their attempt at fixing his fried laptop was still a losing battle at best. Which was the worst news because if Yusaku couldn’t fix the computer, then there really was no saving it.

“ You wanna give up and come with me to go buy another one then? ‘Cause I think I could probably talk my grandparents into sending me enough to cover getting a cheap one to replace it with. ” Or maybe he could just ask to borrow Yusaku’s computer instead? Might’ve been easier that way.

          ❝  it  took  you  long  enough  to  wander  off  on  your  own,  ❞  the  sultry  sweet  voice  mocks,  tucking  glowing  wings  against  his  back  as  he  looks  over  the  other  from  his  position  in  the  tree  above  Heatleo.

          he  wouldn’t  exactly  call  himself  a  patient  creature.  trailing  after  Heatleo  had  quickly  lost  its  touch  as  he  waited  for  Bessho  to  leave  him  be,  but  patience  was  a  virtue  that  he  had  enough  of  a  control  of  for  it  to  pay  off.  one  thing  about  this  whole  situation  bothered  him;  for  whatever  reason,  he  had  focused  on  Heatleo  with  an  intensity  that  he  had  not  focused  on  Firewall.

          after  all,  he’s  only  now  starting  to  get  to  know  Heatleo.  

          ❝  tell  me,  little  lion,  isn’t  it  irresponsible  to  be  off  all  on  your  own?  there  are  dangerous  people  out  here.  ❞

“ Yeah, like who? You? ‘Cause if you’re all I’ve gotta worry about out here, then I’m not that scared. ”

There was an aggressive bite to Heatleo’s remark that’d almost sounded unwarranted for the situation - almost. If this would’ve been anyone else, then he might’ve apologized on the spot for his rude undertone; but Heatleo had a hard time believing that he’d just ‘wandered up’ on the other out of complete chance. Usually when this guy was around, nothing good came out it. It was only natural for Heatleo to be completely on guard with an intense, unwavering, standoffish glare pinned right on his target.

“ So, spit it out already! Who sent you after me this time? ”

         ❝  Heatleo?  ❞

         the  sudden  reappearance  of  the  closest  thing  Firewall  could  call  a  friend  was  a  surprise.  Emma  rarely  stops  near  the  palace  unless  something  happened  with  the  royal  family  —  which,  unless  Firewall  was  missing  large  gaps  of  his  memory,  nothing  had.

          regardless,  he  does  feel  rather  elated  to  see  his  nestmate.  even  if  it’s  been  nearly  a  decade  since  they  could  actually  be  considered  such,  Firewall  felt  a  kinship  with  Heatleo  that  he  hadn’t  with  the  others  of  their  brood.

         ❝  …welcome  back.  ❞

“ Hey! With how you said it like that, I’d think you were almost convinced you were never gonna see me again. Huh, Firewall? ”

Then again, Heatleo himself had almost been convinced that running into Furewall inside a place this big would’ve been a long shot, too. He’d been given the freedom to wander around as he’d pleased - and usually that ended up with the young fiery male in trouble somehow. But today, he was all smiles as he approached his old nestmate with the biggest, most enthusiastic grin that Heatleo could muster!

“ So, you wouldn’t mind if I hung out with you for awhile, right? Y’know, just for old time’s sake and all? ”

          …bad  talker.  well,  he  wasn’t  exactly  wrong.  Yusaku  was  far  from  a  conversationalist  and  hadn’t  exactly  had  many  good  run  ins  with  the  other  students  in  their  dorm.  he’d  basically  ruined  any  sort  of  idea  that  he  wasn’t  a  nasty  hermit,  not  that  he  particularly  cared.

           ❝  sometimes  it’s  because  of  you  that  I  need  that  stronger  word.  besides,  even  if  it’s  not,  I  think  you’d  find  it  somewhat  amusing.  ❞  maybe.  honestly,  he’s  not  even  sure  how  Takeru  still  puts  up  with  him  sometimes.  he  doesn’t  really  do  his  roommate  many  favors  when  it  comes  to  his  attitude.

“ Hey, c’mon, Yusaku! I’m not that bad! Besides! At least all of the situations we get into that make you wanna words like that around me are fun things, right? ’Cause between you and me, I’d probably just laugh anyway. ”

Not that Takeru could really talk about that himself! If given the choice, he still had the bad habit to slinking off on his own and being the antisocial kid he was before Takeru met Yusaku. But either way, Takeru was the more outgoing, friendly, and talkative of the pair -- and he could at least nudge Yusaku to be that much, too.

“ I mean, you are the master of coming out with words that I don’t really get right off the bat, too! ”

“I’ve come to a point in my life where I need a stronger word than fuck.” Yusaku returns!

“ Yeah, but...even if you did have something like that, would you even use it outside convos with me though? I mean, everyone at school already thinks you don’t talk to anyone but like, three people, Yusaku. You’re kind of a... ”

A shut in? A hermit? The most misunderstood guy Takeru knew already? Obviously the answer was all of the above, but instead of insulting his friend, Takeru’s reply was just-

“ Bad talker. ”

Akina was usually good at being alone. With parents who were often busy and a tight schedule of her own most days, she was used to being on her own and tending to things with a maturity beyond her 12 years, avoiding complaints if she could - But this time, the quiet of You Show after hours was just too much for her, driving the small Sakaki to the office in search of her father. Well, him and the couch she'd all but thrown herself into, anyway; he wouldn't mind if she stayed nearby while he finished what he needed to, right?

"Can we get burgers for dinner?"

Just like she could cover for herself by asking about their missed dinner - He wouldn't notice she just wanted to be near him, would he?

“ Maybe. ” The answer was quick, no matter how much Yuya would admit that maaaybe he’d let himself get a little too involved with his pre-planning for next week’s Entertainment dueling event. He had to make the lack of attention up to Akina somehow -- even if that ‘apology’ was just a night out on the own getting burgers for dinner.

“ It’s been awhile since we’ve been to any of the burger places downtown, hasn’t it? We should go! But only on one condition- ”

Yuya would drop the cards he’d been trying to sort back on the table with a soft thump before he’d turn around, giving Akina a mischievous smile followed by a wink.

“ You’ve gotta keep it a secret until we get back with ‘em, okay? If we’re gonna go out to get burgers, then maybe we can surprise the one of us that isn’t going with something special later? You know, just from us. ”

What could once pass for a pocket size Europa and not much else, Enceladus is a small icy moon located in the e ring of Saturn that has been leading numerous discussions of life existing outside the earth.

While having the brightest surface of any object in the solar system is impressive in and of itself, Enceladus caught scientists' full attention when the Cassini spacecraft captured huge jets of water vapor and icy particles spewing hundreds of kilometers into space. These jets, besides being responsible for the formation of the e ring, are also proof of a saltwater ocean residing under the ice, full of almost all the minerals necessary to harbor life. Enceladus completely changed the view on planetary objects, proving there can be conditions for life to form outside the habitable zone.

As Enceladus, you may bring hope to people in the lowest of situations and embody a beacon of light for those who come to you for help. your presence may be noticed in smaller increments rather than a loud entrance everyone turns their head to, but it leaves a lasting impact on people nevertheless.

“ Yeah! I mean, I didn’t have anything planned with Yusaku or anything, but- ”

He’d pause at that though; Takeru slightly tilting his head to one side at the sudden tone shift of the conversation. Something felt off here, enough that Takeru had decided something was worth the extra concern his intuition said he should have. Tsuki had always been quiet and somewhat dismissive with a tendency to be slightly pessimistic -- but never like this.

This was Tsuki being terrified of something and Takeru had decided he didn’t like it.

“ But, hold up! What do you mean you ‘have’ to leave Den City? ” he’d counter. “ What could be so important that you’ve gotta leave right now though? I thought you said something about checking out that new game center that just opened up down town this weekend or something? ”

‘Is everything okay?’ his confused blink at Tsuki seemed to say, even though Takeru already knew the answer. Everything definitely wasn’t okay here!

Ruri was sure her voice would have been a surprise - especially when she followed it up with a peek over her boyfriend’s shoulder from behind, lips curled into a soft smile and hands tucked behind her back. He’d just been sitting there on the park bench and she couldn’t help herself when Yuto had always had the cutest flustered reactions~!

Of course, it was more than just his reaction she’d been seeking out on finding him, too. Seeing him always made her heart skip a beat, and spending time with him, whether Shun approved or not, made her days feel right - And if she could even get to hear his voice, maybe that would be enough to brighten an otherwise soured day! It always was any other day, at least-

“A short one, maybe?”

Thankfully, he’s never been the type to startle easy -- but Ruri would get the reaction she’d been looking for in silent form! Flustered enough to quietly lean away from the intruder over his shoulder before he’d realized it’d been her, Yuto would glance over his other shoulder on the look out for Ruri’s older brother before he’d finally relax.

“ Yeah, sure. But I thought you were supposed to be busy today? ” He would’ve actually called her earlier than this if Yuto would’ve known Ruri had actually been free for the afternoon! Now he was the one feeling like the cold, antisocial one as he’d turned to hang an arm over the back of his park bench.

“ Did you get done with things early? ”

“Sorry, sorry! I had some things that came up at home, but I’m here now!” She takes a second to catch her breath after finally reaching him, the girl’s hands on her knees as fatigue set in from all the running. Yuzu didn’t plan on being late for her outing with the dueltainer, but the new living situation had caused her life to be pretty hectic. How could it not be with the addition of three new sisters and a big brother? 

“So, Yuya? What exactly did you have in mind for today? All you said was for me to meet you here at the school.” Her hand moves to gently take his, a feeling she will never get tired of after all the time they spent apart trying to desperately find one another across the dimensions.

“ Yeah, but it’s nothing really! It’s just your dad said he wasn’t doing anything special with You Show this weekend, right? So I figured that meant we could have this place all to ourselves for two whole days if we’d wanted! ”

“ No offense to everyone else, but...” The dueling school could get a little crowded whenever everyone was here and actual lessons were going on. As much as Yuya loved the attention and the cheers for his practice performances -- even he’d admit You Show could definitely use more space.

“ Besides! You know your dad and Gongenzaka wouldn’t let me fire up the ARC system myself and take a sneak peek at all those new Action Fields they uploaded if they were here either! ”
