lately, all dustin had been doing at work was lingering around the games he wanted to play. it wasn’t abnormal for him to do so, but considering the fact that keith had called him out about it, he knew that he had to be a little more careful about what he was doing. that didn’t mean he wasn’t crouched over dig dug, nearly kicking the machine when the game was over because, even years later, he still struggled getting the high score back. was he bitter? no! a little.

behind him, someone cleared their throat. dustin didn’t turn around, instead sliding another quarter into the machine and shaking his head. “look, if you’re tryin to get me to front you some more quarters, my boss said i can’t do that anymore!”

[ zethphan smith-gneist | cis male | he/him | twenty-one] —— it’s just another typical week in hawkins i guess — isn’t that right, dustin henderson? huh, guess they can’t hear me over yoda by weird al playing on their walkman, but it looks like they’re headed to work as an attendant at the palace arcade. did you know dusty bun has been in hawkins for fourteen years? yeah, they’ve been described as a bit smug, but i suppose them also being intelligent outweighs the negative. i’ve also heard people say they remind them of a scratched up compass relied on a bit too much, half your paycheck converted to quarters and spent at work, more library books than one person could reasonably finish… however, that could just be this weeks newest rumor.

raised by a single mother and a father that would call on most major holidays, dustin has always been a bit of a mama’s boy. is he as attached to her as she is him? oh, absolutely not. nobody can outdo claudia henderson’s attachment to her son. does he love her? absolutely. does he want a bit of space? absolutely. of course, he still lives with her and didn’t go off to college after the chaos in hawkins - mit on the backburner while he stays at home and works at the arcade.

he doesn’t hate his job, despite warnings not to work at some place he was a big fan of. it hasn’t changed his view of the arcade. he tends to spend his shift trying to play games for as long as he can get away with. (his current record is 2 hours of his shift)

a HUGE musical fan who did drama in his later years of high school. he got the lead in west side story his senior year and still brings it up sometimes.

with everything acting up again, of course he has his theories, but he’s mostly been keeping them to himself because.... well. isn’t it far easier to pretend everything is okay? ... as okay as it can be in hawkins.
