AU design. How do cloaks made out of refurbished blankets work
Good Enough-- Closed for Philautiam
“What gave you the impression I was anything but?” the query was muttered in a ghost of a breath, not actively searching for an answer. Honestly, this was all a hassle that he’d much rather not deal with. At least he’s now discovering why he avoided ‘dating’ ( if one could even call what he and Shintaro did that ).
The door was shut behind Shizu and he made his way back to the couch where he was relaxing before being rudely interrupted,”Make yourself at home.” Taking his own advice his phone made it’s way out of his pockets and back into his hands. He was doing his best to relax in this stranger’s presence, but he’d only be able to keep that facade up for so long.
“If it is was only of something so basic why did you feel the need to talk to me?”
If he heard it he didn’t reply, instead settling himself comfortably on the couch with his knees pulled up to his chest. Golden eyes watched his movements with mild interest, for now focusing on the game rather than the person playing it.
Shizu looked up momentarily at the question before looking back at the device in Azreal’s hands, responding with a mere shrug.
“He seemed to like you, for some reason. Shintaro isn’t exactly good at making friends on his own, so I wanted to meet you for myself. So far you seem like a giant prick.” Blunt as always--

An imperceptible narrowing of the eyes, though his smile remained just as sunny as ever.
“Oh? So, you’re not nice to people when you first meet them~? But you were nice to Shin, right? You are nice to him, right~~~?” Honest or not, Shizu didn’t like the implications of that sentence in the least.
Strike one.
“By the way, it’s something called common courtesy. If someone doesn’t give you a reason to be rude, then don’t be rude. Simple enough, right?” He had to bite back the urge to tack on ‘Even you can get it’ to the end, figuring that the rather snappish comeback wouldn’t be appreciated.
“Anyway, my business with you is that Shin told me something interesting about your relationship with him and I decided to come over and see what you were like. Now will you let me in, or would you rather we continue to air our dirty laundry here?”
“I’m only nice should I find a reason to be, and so far you’re nothing but suspicious.” A pause as his head cants to the side. So that’s what this was about. He was seriously going to be analyzed by some kid. Well, he better have a damned good reason on why he finds it necessary to butt into private matters,”Of course I’m nice to him. The little shit means the world to me.” Might as well play up what he would usually say.
He chose to ignore the wise bit of advice given to him, finding no purpose in actually storing away the knowledge. It’s not like he dealt with people enough to actually make use of it anyways.
A brow arched as features were schooled to hide the irritation that threatened to make itself known. So he was talked about. Lovely. Absolutely lovely. A click of his tongue could be heard as he stepped out of the doorway, one of his hands gesturing for Shizu to come on in,”Care to enlighten me on what you two talked about?”
“Rude.” But true-- He definitely wasn’t the most normal looking of people.
There was a small bit of relief in hearing Azreal admit that he was kind to the boy, however he kept in mind that what people said and what people did rarely ever matched up.
He’ll just ignore that second bit for now because of that. If Azreal meant what he said, it’s certainly show in the coming moments.
Shizu beamed at the other male when he stepped aside, raven curls bouncing slightly as he passed the threshold. “Pardon the intrusion~” The tongue click caught his attention, a slight grin working its way onto his face at the sound.
“Oh, nothing much... How work was going for him, how Tono was doing, y’know, mundane things like that.”

“I don’t see why I should be nice to someone I just met.” Honest as always, though that should be expected when dealing with him. His head canted to the side with brows furrowed as the words processed in his head,”If you’re a friend of Shintaro’s what business do you have with me?”
He’s not going to budge from the doorway until he’s sure that this male in front of him isn’t a threat and is in fact someone that knows the former NEET. Like hell he’d bring something dangerous into this house.
An imperceptible narrowing of the eyes, though his smile remained just as sunny as ever.

To hear his name fall from lips of a stranger caused his form to grow rigid. In all past experience finding someone that knew him while he had no clue of their existence never exactly ended well for him. The phrase ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ was definitely something he took to heart. Just because they appeared to be a friendly little fella, did not mean he was.
His arms crossed over his chest, the fingers of his right hand tapping along his left arm,”What did you want.” Though it was technically a question he did not voice it as such. The air surrounding him now was definitely different from the lethargy that circled him a few seconds prior.
Well, that wasn’t the reaction he was hoping for by far. He could still work with it, though. Probably.
Still, better put on his nicest, prettiest smile, just in case.
“Jeez, aren’t you a charmer. I really hope you’re a lot nicer to Shintaro than you are to his friends.” He kept his voice light, joking, purposefully dropping the words ‘Shintaro’ and ‘friends’ to get across that he was harmless instead of giving the man a reason like he had asked. No doubt simply saying ‘I just want to talk’ would get a door slammed in his face, given how skittish (was that even the right word for this? No, alert was better.) the other seemed.

Sure he was told, well more so demanded, to stay in the one room of the house but when everyone was out he couldn’t help but wander from the kitchen to the living room and back again. It got cramped being stuck in one place for too long after all. It made him feel trapped, and eventually he just decided what Shintaro doesn’t know won’t hurt me. Not that the hikineet would ever do anything more than yell at him, but better safe than sorry, right?
Fingers tapped away at the phone in his hand. There was some mindless app on the screen, fruit ninja or whatever it was called. It wasn’t even that great but doing something to keep busy was better than wasting away in a room where his only company was a rabbit.
A click of his tongue was given when the rapping on the front door distracted him from his task, causing him to lose his last ‘life’. Just when he was so close to beating his high score too… He stood up from the couch with the device making it’s way to the front pocket of his jeans. He might as well see who’s at the door and make sure it’s nothing important.
Once the offending piece of wood was opened onyx irises flickered down just slightly to meet auric ones. A single brow arched, disappearing under fringe as smooth baritone voiced a single query,”Can I help you?”
Okay, wow. This guy was a lot taller than he expected--
Tall and intimidating and...
Uh.
Dressed like a stripper, apparently. Well, okay then. No judging from him, given his own questionable fashion choices. Besides, maybe this guy was like Hinako in that he dressed the way he did in order to grab people’s attention.
Certainly worked--
The male’s question tore him from his analysis of, who he assumed to be, Azreal’s appearance, eyes flicking from too pale skin to dark eyes. An amicable smile, Shizu giving him a little wave in greeting.
“Hey there~ I’m looking for someone named Azreal; are you him?”
Friendly as could be, all in an attempt to disarm the other and make him easier to pick apart.

He’d waited long enough, he mused, headphones blasting music as he traveled the by now familiar route to a certain hikineet’s home.
It’d been a bit of time since he’d found out about Shintaro being in a new relationship, a fact that he was both happy about and had his reservations on. After all, the teen was a rather fragile soul, easily set off by small things when it came to his emotions. It wouldn’t be good if whoever had managed to steal his heart didn’t know how to handle something so precious and so very breakable.
One, two... Third house from the end of the block. Up the walkway, onto the porch, two quick knocks on the door.
He’d been careful to make sure Shintaro was out before coming over, naturally. No need for the boy to know of his visit, and if he happened to pop back in before he left, well, he’d just say that he’d been waiting for him.
Idly he shifted from foot to foot as he waited for someone to answer the door, shutting off his music player and removing his hood from his head.
Prepare yourself, Azreal Dalca. He wasn’t easy to please--
Drabble Prompt: Hands - Bloody Work
Sometimes, when the boy wasn’t looking, Shizu couldn’t help but stare at Hibiki’s hands. They were smaller than his, softer and without callouses from years of holding brushes and pencils and carving tools. However, they were just as dainty.
Long, nimble fingers.
Piano fingers they called them. Good for playing music.
Good for creating.
He absentmindedly wondered what they’d feel like in his own, only half focusing on the drink he was making--a simple coke and rum-- as he thought.
They’d probably be warm. Incredibly warm, just like the personality of the person they belonged to. Gentle, too. Hibiki was in medical school, after all, and doctors and nurses had to be gentle with their patients.
He chuckled at the irony of their situation, prompting a curious look or two from other patrons, Hibiki included.
A boy who wanted to save lives.
A man who wanted to take them.
No wonder their hands were so different.
As he handed off the drink to his customer, he wondered if perhaps one day, he could make it so that they’d both be the same.
"It’s called ‘never been active a day in my life’, Shizu. There’s nothing to soften the bones, I guess."
He kinda felt like shit for hurting a friend, even if he had been scared out of his wits. A hand came out and grasped Shizu’s arm to help him up as he righted the bedcovers with the other. “I should really eat more. Or work out. Or both.”
"You need to eat more is your problem. And I don't mean junk food. Maybe then people won't mistake your elbow driving into them as getting stabbed. Though being more active wouldn't hurt either."
The Shadow honestly didn't seem to mind too terribly, accepting the boy's help and already going back to chastising Shintaro for his dietary habits.
"So why are you screaming like a banshee, anyway?"
"I’m sorry, I’m seriously sorry," Shintaro stated, sliding off the bed to assess the damage to the Shadow. "Are you good? Jeez…"
Them reflexes. That’s the true benefit of playing first-person shooter games.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine. Had worse."
A groan before he slowly pushed himself up, gingerly rubbing where the other's elbow had slammed into him.
"Why are you so goddamn pointy, though? I'm made of sturdier stuff than humans so I can take a lot of damage, but that really hurt. Jeez..."
Once in awhile, there are certain consequences to being an asshat.
One of them being a panicked NEET elbowing you right in the chest and shoving you off the bed.
"Oh my God. Ooooooh my God. Don’t. Do that.”
Shizu wheezed from his newly attained spot on the floor, attempting to get air back into his lungs.
"That... That backfired horribly."
At least Shintaro's boniness was semi useful. Someone help him.
Terrified screaming from the NEET’s room—guess who just downloaded Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
Guess who's currently sneaking up on the poor unsuspecting NEET.
Just a little further... Chomp--
Right on Shintaro's shoulder.
Drabble for Bloody Work AU involving Shizu and Hibiki's first meeting
Another glass served and another glass to clean, another patron asking for a refill and another patron leaving their pay on the counter. Small talk here and there, never a moment’s rest. Honestly Shizu had almost ignored the slight boy that had sat down at the bar and unceremoniously thunked his head down onto the counter top, but after about ten minutes of not hearing a peep from the kid, he just had to make sure he hadn’t up and died right there. Bad for business.
"Excuse me, sir?" drifted his concerned voice over the med student’s ears, and thankfully his words earned a shift and a tired reply of ‘Sorry, just resting…’
"Rough day I take it?" he continued, and this time the boy actually bothered to lift his head, blinking bleary bright blue eyes at him before nodding slowly.
"Yeah, you could say that…"
Shizu smiled, bidding the boy wait just a moment for him to return. A simple pick me up should do the trick, a strawberry and mango cocktail. Very fruity, but should be good enough for someone who looked like a couple beers could put them under the table.
"Here. It’s on me."
He smiled and slid the drink in front of his weary visitor, and slowly, the young man picked himself up to inspect it. A sip.
"… It’s good."
Oh, what a pretty smile…
"I’m Shizu, by the way. Shizu Kuroki. Care to talk about your day for a bit with me?"
"Are you sure? You seemed busy."
"Of course. I wouldn’t offer if I wasn’t."
There was that smile again— He couldn’t help but think the boy in front of him would look good in red.
"Hibiki Kuze, sir. It’s a pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure’s all mine~"
In retrospect, he should have seen this coming. Even as the soda dripped from his curls and onto the floor or his shoes, even as he stumbled back and hissed in pain from what had bypassed his haphazardly thrown up arm to sear his eyes, even as the (underage, he had to remind himself) boy stood there frozen, anger temporarily forgotten, before turning tail, bar stool clattering to the floor in the youth's haste to leave, he really couldn't find it in himself to blame anyone but himself for this outcome.
In retrospect, he should have seen this coming. At first, Kisaragi's words had been almost slow, carefully thought out. If he didn't know better, he'd have dared say the boy was almost relaxed. Then he'd begun pushing buttons and those strangely drawled words became shorter, Shintaro's sentences choppier as he continued to snicker and tease. Pale fingers had begun tap tap tapping on the bar's counter top, that sharp jaw that still held just a bit of baby fat to it had clenched, teeth gritted with the effort the boy was making to keep his cool.
He'd just been about to commend him for his self control when the coke and rum (sans rum, but it was fine because he gave the boy a "discount" and only charged him for the coke. Not like he'd know the difference in taste since it was the first time he'd served it to him) had sailed from its glass to hit him square in the face.
So much for self control.
............ He was totally billing Shintaro for the dry cleaning his uniform now required.
Anybody want to send me drabble prompts?
"You started it, Shizu."
"Did not."
Yes you did you liar.
"Well, you’re saying weird things and acting weird. Why wouldn’t I ask that?"
"You're the one acting weird here, getting into a screaming match with me..."
