Reminder: It’s OK to not be OK
They talk of ‘owning’ things. Of being a badass. Of not giving a fuck.
And it hurts because you’re not strong enough yet. That person still matters. That thing still happened. You’re only human; what the fuck?! It feels like a demand; a pressure to be somebody you’re not ready to step into.
So let’s remember that in parallel with the standard not to be the person we’d rather not, is also the standard that we shouldn’t necessarily have to be the person standing against that.
Not straight away. We’ll grow into it, but not necessarily today.
Today it’s OK to be a bit gross. To stay in bed too long and not use this particular day in an ultra-productive way. It’s OK to give yourself time, not to rush yourself into feeling OK when it’s not quite time.
Let others call it lazy. We’ll call it self-care.
Opting out exists for a season, and then we owe it to ourselves to move on and step into who we want to be, but let’s not rush it. Life is short, but a shorter life full of angst and sadness is secondary.
So take your time. Don’t wallow and dwell, and do work through things and make sure you surround yourself with good influences, but it’s not a race. You’re hurting, and healing takes time, so rest. Please rest. And take this virtual hug.
We’re going to be OK.

can I please have context for this
context:
you can replenish your health by…: drinking water, breathing fresh air, eating a wild strawberry…
you can restore your mana by…: listening to folk music, breathing fresh air applies to this one as well… taking a walk…
I suddenly feel less pessimistic about these suggestions for improving mental health purely bc it’s worded like this
put this on your page if you’re not ashamed

a post on intrusive thoughts
something my psychiatrist shared with me: he’s an old dude and he’s wise and stuff and one time he was like “katie did you read harry potter?” and i was like what do i look like a damned fool? “yes” and he was like “treat intrusive thoughts like bogarts. think of something happy. think of something beautiful. look that thought right in the eye and scream ‘RIDICULOUS!’ give it no power. show it no fear. and it’ll go away just like a bogart.” and it works. it really works. u can even think of it as magic
