i can see it so clearly. slightly tipsy venti trying to bring it up with a joking air. diluc slooowly turning around with his eyes bulging out of his skull. glass pulverised instantly. venti awkwardly laughing it off... who said that? must've been the wind! haha... ha.....

general thoughts on this sort of scenario is that i believe in the name of #freedom venti would try his best to pointedly ignore his children getting up to things he doesn't personally approve of. maybe he is so chill and free that he really is just cool with incest and the like. but i think his true opinion matters little, because he doesn't want to disclose it. he'd very much rather that noooobody brings it up directly to him — he's playing the avoidant game on providing a divine answer of what's right/wrong! for better or worse

i really like your kaeluc thoughts. i dont like it when people who ship kaeluc try to make it into a normal thing and argue that they aren't really brothers and grew up as just close friends and that it's all a mistranslation. i think that if youre into kaeluc you gotta owe it and admit youre into it for the incest. i used to find it gross when i was younger a few years ago but its a dynamic that has really been growing on me lately loll.......sometimes you just gotta make the adoptive brothers have incestuous feelings for each other

thank you, i'm glad you like them! and yes, totally agreed. to me, performing mental gymnastics to justify why a ship is actually morally sound(/whatever descriptor you might use) is always less interesting than exploring how the "disgusting" elements inform and affect their dynamic. and kaeluc or not, the fact that they grew up as brothers is so vital to their characters and relationship that i can't understand the appeal in erasing it... own the incest or admit it's not for you and go ship something else!

i will say i support the "kaeluc is fine because they're only adoptive brothers and diluc disowned him and and and" mental gymnastics when they're happening in diluc's own head. kaeya won't let him delude himself for long! and i think even diluc knows it's total bullshit. but he has to make a little effort to feel morally upright lol

yes to durinbedo/albedurin. i would count it as i do lean into the brother dynamic they have as well as durin's youth and naïvety... i think it's hard to ignore either of those factors when it comes to their relationship. for clarification i am talking about minidurin, i'm cool with albedo/ogdurin doing some shit too but i have less thoughts on it

i like multiple variants of hearthcest... i think the only ones that have yet to really move me are arlecchino/lyney and lynette/freminet — i do think there's plenty to talk about in the former's dynamic i just don't think of it as a "ship" as in romance/sex being involved. same with lynette and freminet to be honest. basically there's something wrong with that whole family just in different ways for different people

love chaeya but woow the fanon interpretation is extremely ooc (in my opinion) which sucks!! ajax is so interesting and has so many layers but is always watered down to Hot-but-stupid-boyfailure who dotes on kaeya. itto repackaged. while kaeya is an untouchable succubus goddess . this isn't a super popular interpretation, but I feel like diluc probably wasn't a perfect brother to kaeya, as much as they loved eachother. It mentions in Kaeya's character story that he was beside diluc every step of the way, no matter what, as well as the fact he was regarded as eccentric and mostly hanging in dilucs shadow. Plus he would take on punishments for him and overall go above and beyond to keep him happy at the expense of his own wellbeing whichhh

I can easily picture how young Diluc, with a one-track mind and a father who lives vicariously through him by painting the knights in a glamorous, infallible light and saying that his greatest achievement would be joining them, could disregard and not pay Any mind to kaeyas thoughts and opinions, way too wrapped up in his own world. Sun and moon or something. And kaeya wouldn't really try to challenge him on that Ever. So.

Plus he's a teenager and kaeya is There. Kid diluc soon after meeting kaeya lightly bullying and picking on him before warming up is a dear headcanon of minee. Kaeya just taking it stoicly would creep him out!! Girl why aren't you defending yourself say Something!!

+ he'd probably regard kaeya bending over backwards for him as just a normal thing because of how beloved and sheltered he was idkk!!

Oh and of course I think kaeya concealed his past well and played a very convincing role, but when you're so close to someone you usually sense something Off about them if they're hiding something. And I doubt diluc ever noticed any of kaeyas hesitancy about his history/family and such, or how he'd become uncomfortable if a certain topic that linked to fate or home was brought up. Or just brushed it aside as another weird#kaeyaThing

you really have diluc nailed on the head here... i think a lot of people are quick to gloss over how privileged and starry-eyed he grew up, which is fair enough given it's easier to forget that with canon diluc. crepus' sudden and violent death, in part due to the failure of the knights, shattered his worldview and forced him to develop some awareness and thoughts of his own, but prior to that he listened to crepus without questioning. he listened to the knights without questioning by extension, because crepus wanted him to be a knight. IMO, he gave little to no thought to his OWN feelings and opinions because he would've taken whatever crepus and the knights thought as word of god — let alone kaeya's feelings and opinions!

diluc also grew up... spoiled is a strong word. but his father adored him, he had the ragnvindr house staff, he was accomplished and probably well-liked within the knights, got his vision young, richest kid in mondstadt (and the lawrences are disgraced and the gunnhildrs were going through divorce in diluc's childhood, so the ragnvindrs were likely Especially in good standing)... people liking him and giving him whatever he wants was pretty normal to him. same with kaeya

i do think he loved kaeya. i'm probably gonna steal that lightly bullying him at first headcanon off you (i think it's in part jealousy due to crepus' newly-split attention, which has previously been always on diluc, and also just. lol ur weird). but i do think he warmed up to and loved kaeya, even if it was sometimes more in the way you love a houseplant or a pet dog. loved having him around and would take care of him if he was obviously hurt but failed to consider him entirely. idk if i'm explaining this well but i think kid diluc lacked a certain level of interiority and didn't examine for it in others... which provides a great contrast to kaeya! guy who is rather shallow and takes most things at face value vs guy who lives his whole life hiding things under the surface. idk idk!!!

ahhh thank you so much i'm glad you enjoyed my thoughts! warning for noncon mentions ahead for scaramouche (<- will stick with this name for simplicity lol) i generally do the opposite and make a point of not shipping him. in my headcanonverse experiencing abandonment from ei & co. so early on in his life created a gaping desire for intimacy and attention that his time w the fatui crushed to pieces. i do believe in dottore assaults him on top of all the crazy experiment bullshit he probably went through... and i think that whiplash from complete abandonment/lack of care -> WAY too much attention and "care", all of the wrong kind, was. obviously really bad for him. PLUS he's so isolated from all the other harbingers; his only strong relationship being the one with Dr. Violates You is. yeah not great!

sooo in conclusion imo he's negatively impacted by his past experiences to the point he'd not only greatly struggle in a relationship, but also avoid anything like that. he has a lot of issues around trust and intimacy and although he can journey to recover from that (and ik that's where the appeal of scara ships come from for some people), i think he's very skilled at wallowing in misery and depriving himself of good things. and iii enjoy that. plus he has wandering and schoolwork and fatuirevenge to do he's busy! so in MyWorld he avoids romance/sex like the plague (which is compelling to meeee in its own right)

if they were involved with each other i think they'd be doing their utmost to hide it rather than telling anyone. i do think if rosaria somehow found out she'd agree to not tell anyone else; she could accept it as another terrible secret between her and kaeya in their There'sSomethingWrongWithUs solidarity

i could entertain the idea of venti knowing by virtue of being god (perhaps the wind carries it to him or he recalls diluc's childhood prayers and extrapolates from there) and in that case i think he'd quietly not interfere. #freedom. but i have no idea how he'd approach it if the information was volunteered to him directly... whether the anemo archon's ideal of freedom extends to brocest is a question for venti himself lol

as for the rest of their friends... i can't see any of them really understanding or being fine with it so it's a struggle to talk about how exactly it'd all go wrong

One thing I don't like about the kaeluc fandom is how people ignore canon kid kaeya and dilucs personalities!! Like there's so much potential and charm. Kaeya being polite and shy while diluc is more adventurous and cheery aa!

i will admit i have read practically no fic (fake fan... sorry...) so i haven't seen this issue myself but big shame if they do get ignored! kid kaeya and diluc are sooo sweet and importantly i think they deserve attention because they provide such an interesting backdrop to canon timeline kaeya and diluc

i looove that diluc is the more outgoing one when they're kids but it's kaeya when they're adults... and i don't think they've changed massively themselves, but the circumstances around them have! IMO kaeya has always been the more socially aware of the two and maintains tight control over that — previously the best thing to do was to live comfortably in diluc's shadow and now the best thing to do is charm and evade in his own right. meanwhile diluc i think has always not played the "game" and just been himself (save for expectations from his father + the knights) and while he was once forgiven for and happy like that, it now alienates him a bit especially because his worldview is so altered. IDK

What kinds of compliments do kaeluc pay eachother?

i think as adults they're both faaar too emotionally constipated for that — at best they'd sarcastically compliment each other as teasing/insult. anything genuine is stilted and veiled behind a whole lotta other words. as kids though i think diluc would be very openly loving towards kaeya. straightforward and earnest in his words + always the first to comfort kaeya if he's down. every positive adjective that enters his vocabulary can be applied to his little brother #hebelieves. in my heart he also thinks kaeya is beautiful (and thinks it even moreso when they grow up, much to his chagrin), but is more hesitant about expressing that one out loud. but lots of staring in awe when he can!

kid kaeya i think was much more shy and closed off, so as much as he likes his brother he's not as open in talking about it as diluc. definitely thinks diluc is super cool and strong though. and whenever he does tell diluc that diluc is over the moooon about it, especially since it's rarer to hear from kaeya

i like kaeya/rosaria — to me, they're friends with benefits, the benefits being drunken hookups + getting to wallow in their misery together. two closed-off, hurting people who can loosen up around each other and find a little comfort in their solidarity. they're not getting any better or worse for it. it's sort of like being at the bottom of a pit which is pretty terrible but at least there's someone else here also at the bottom of the pit who Gets You and is willing to share a cigarette with you. you're not helping each other out of the pit but it's nice

kaeya/thoma is a guilty pleasure of mine... it's my one actual relationship kaeyaship and very corny and cutes. that anecdote caused me permanent brain damage. i really think kaeya was just angling for a one night stand and swiftly realised thoma is not that sort of guy and ended up with a penpal... epistolary romcom bullshit commences... i have a lot of thoughts about them it's a 70k fic in my head so i shan't go on further

i'm fond of kaeya/kaveh but not really as a full blown Thing. i simply think they are both beautiful alcoholics (both of their receiving gift ii voicelines involve them suggesting you pair the dish with wine! #funfact) who would get along stunningly and they should make out/hook up/have a short-lived fling about it. works really well as flavour for haikaveh imo, which is largely the context i think about them in
