Transparent Barnes! Let him dance all over your blog!!
(This was made by tracing screenshots of various concerts. Don’t get fooled into thinking this was hard work, my original content or magically manifested on screen through direct impulses from my brain. It didn’t. Though i sometimes wish so.)
you made my day better with your talent so thank you! xoxo i seriously hadn't thought about even sketching in so long but saw your work and got inspired. even if you didn't do a tutorial, it would be awesome if you could do like a wordless video of yourself drawing/sped up version of your process just so i could watch how you work/form shapes. I mean if not, that's totally fine not pushing at all! THANK YOU for your tips! I've always wondered... (1/2)
(2/2) …about copying styles vs. studying realism so thank you! also if you need inspo/ideas for more drawings (and/or take commissions) I’d love to see more of that AU soft punk!dan you did 😍 cause HOT!! Thanks again 💙 and my day is great hope yours is too :) - fangirl anon
goshhh i never thought i could inspire people!! what is this? is this real??no seriously i don’t think i got enough words to thank you, but i’ll do it anyway…thank you sooo much!! these are some really neat ideas!!! yeah i thought a lot about making a sort of character study for punk!dan! it’ll take some time cause i’m working on something else first but maybe i’ll manage to record some process videos from that, let’s see…anyway thank you a million times for everything, this means so much, you can’t even imagine!! <3have fun with sketching and a lovely, lovely day!! maybe see you around some time yeah? lots of hugs!! xx
You're welcome--it's the truth! i was browsing the Bastille tag and saw your recent drawing and explored more of your work and my jaw dropped. That face/proportion study you did of Dan, Charlie, Leto, James...SWEET GOD YOU'RE GIFTED. how did you teach yourself?? books and YouTube? you should post some tutorials PLEASE so people like me who are trying to improve on stick figures (lol) can learn from geniuses like you!! Also I don't blame you Dan's face is gorgeous to stare at 😍 - fangirl anon
sweet jesus thank you so much!!!! i’m so flattered!! i really don’t know what to say, like… i’d love to drown you in tutorials but i’m so bad at explaining!(ironically this got longer than expected but i hope it helps!!)i mostly taught myself by looking at things and then trying to draw them, like real-life studies and as many portraits as possible - sometimes i draw my friends or classmates from uni, sometimes i just look in the mirror. i’d love to give you some solid tips here but i’m afraid i’m too much of an autodidact to tell you what to do. so yeah…honestly, i myself hate to say it, but the key to success here is building up a routine and not taking things too seriously. drawing actually depends a lot on muscle memory, so the more you draw, the better your brain will get in putting things on paper. start with anything you love! (can be dan’s face, or your pet if you have one, or your favourite flower, just do it!)then experiment as much as you want, with colors, compositions, backgrounds, material… you get the idea.another tip: learn realism first. i jumped in copying other peoples styles, which really broke my neck when i started to draw realistic people. and oh: don’t be afraid to copy fotos 1:1. as in: don’t be afraid to draw exactly what you see. cause you see, i’m doing that way too often, but it helps you figure out how things in terms of proportions, colors and shading work.also, if you need help with a specific thing you can always come ask me, my asks and inbox are open 24/7! maybe i can work out a specific tutorial if you want to. or take a look around here, this site’s stuffed with helpful tutorials!thanks for making my day again, hope you’re having a good one as well!! xx
oh. oh my god. your art is mind blowing. omg your talent!! how long have you been drawing? are you self taught?
oh gosh how lovely of you to tell me!!! thank you soso much for making my day you can’t imagine how much this means to me!! <3yeah, i’m self taught! not to sound cheesy but i’ve been drawing since i could hold a pen and i started doing portraits about 4 years ago (wheni discovered dan’s wonderful face)
LOVE your latest fanart! Keep it up :)
Aaaah thank you so so much for telling me, means a lot!! And I’ll def try to!! :))
