How boring. Here Una thought she was going to see some action unfold at Astral for once instead of the same-old same-old. Half of the time she thought of setting fire to this place just to see if it'd burn. She seriously considered the fact that it might not. Maybe it was made of some impenetrable clay destined to never decay. What a sad life.
Oh! The question. She leaned back, folded her arms over her chest, and offered him a shrug. "Maybe." After a second, she thought to be bold. "Maybe a little dancing would jog my memory."
If he wasn't going to amuse her, she'd amuse herself. He didn't look half-bad and if she could slut out for a few minutes, she might as well seize the day. And she wasn't due to meet her boyfriend for a few more hours. What harm would a quick lap dance do, except leave a small dent in his wallet? Nothing that a Jedi (she knew it, she could practically sniff it on him) couldn't make up for.
"Whadda you say, space slicker?"
While Camiss knew he had to do whatever it took to get the information he needed, he still had to make sure he could see where the boss was and if Dalibar walked in. Whether this dance would be in a backroom or right on the floor, he couldn't risk missing out on what he came for.
It was surely just credits the dancer was after, and he knew just offering her some would easily get him the information he needed. More often than not, that was how he ended up figuring anything out.
"No, that won't be necessary," he said, pulling out his wallet. "If you can just tell me anything you know, I'll gladly pay you for that service." He smirked at her as he reached in and pulled out enough credits that she wouldn't be able to turn it down.
@dustorgold // soleil x camiss
"No offense, but are you even, like, qualified to be doing this?" Soleil asked, cheek in her palm as she rested her elbow on the desk. A drawn-out, dramatic sigh left her lips. Everybody else's Master was cool, teaching their Padawans how to do kickflips and dodges with their lightsabers. Meanwhile, she and Camiss were stuck in the library, hitting the books.
The pair was matched up by the Jedi High Council a couple of weeks ago. She'd never met Camiss before that fateful day they were partnered up, but if she had, she'd probably protest as soon as the High Council's decision was made. He was so buttoned-up to her. And if it turned out that he wasn't really that buttoned-up after all and just seemed like it, then he had a lot of explaining to do. Her point being, she was the total opposite of buttoned-up and really wished she could have been coupled with somebody who matched her tempo instead.
Camiss was never a flashy person. A quiet kid who kept to himself, he would rather go about his business unnoticed. That's not exactly easy when you're a Jedi, given the status and responsibilities, but Camiss did his best to stay out of the light.
With a Padawan, it's even harder to go unnoticed because someone is always there watching you.
"We've been over this already, Soleil, being a Jedi is about more than just using a lightsaber," he said, setting another stack of holobooks down on the table. "There's so much knowledge and information needed to do our jobs. You have to know pretty much everything there is about the galaxy. It's going to take some time, of course, but the quicker we get started, the quicker you'll know it."
When Locamm Prin was training Camiss not long ago, they knew each other well before the training began. Camiss enjoyed the way they goofed off then, but now that it was his turn to take the lead, he was more focused on doing it right.
"You don't need to read all of this now. I'm just setting them aside so no one takes them before we can."
A concerned citizen? She burst out in a single, dry laugh, dripping in sarcasm. "Ah, yes, concerned citizen." Her voice was pseudo-diplomatic and she even took on an accent for the sake of dramatics. "Because we have so many of you lying around here."
If that was the truth, this part of Coruscant would be as shining and prideful as the rest of it, with the kinds of buildings and people as New Republic City. Well-read, wealthy, maybe even friendly if that wasn't pushing it. Instead, where she was from—where Astral Nightclub was located—was derelict and dark, seldom visited by people like him. Her city was neglected, that was the truth of it. And the scum and mold that festered around here stemmed from that neglect.
At least she could say whatever the man was looking for led him here, of all places. And that was saying something formidable about where she came from.
She narrowed her eyes in contemplation at his question. "Maybe once or twice." The name was familiar. Leaning in, she whispered, "Were you sent here to kill him or something? You can tell me the truth." Why, yes, Una, because all secrets were safe with strange go-go dancers at even stranger clubs in the unvisited part of Coruscant.
Though she claimed she was second in command, this girl didn't seem to be all that in-the-know. However, since even she'd heard Dalibar's name, that meant he had to be a frequent visitor, and it upped the chance that, given the intel the Jedi Council received was correct, the conversation being had was about him.
At this point, there wasn't much Camiss could do but continue asking the dancer for information. Until he actually saw Dalibar, he would have to just sit back and wait. She might have something that can be used in a case against him.
"No, I wasn't sent here to kill anyone," Camiss said, which was the truth. Many who weren't a bit higher up than a dancer in society likely knew very little about how the Jedi worked. Still, he didn't want to give her everything, though it likely wouldn't matter. "I was just told he may be here tonight, and I wanted to speak with him. Do you remember anything that you've heard about him from your boss?"
Una didn't care left or right why the guy had a lightsaber or if he had any business carrying it. From what she'd heard, only Jedis had those glowing things. And if commonfolk like her ever found one, it meant they either stole or it won it in a trade. The fact that she noticed it in the first place, though, seemed to spook the stranger a little bit at least, since he shifted to hide the base of it under his cloak. She stifled laughter. If he really was a Jedi—she'd never met one before—he was doing a pretty bad job at it.
"It's nice to meet you too, Casanova," she spoke sarcastically.
She reached for the toothpick across one of the martinis, hungry for a snack. It seemed like he didn't have any interest in taking it. Well, once a drink was on the table it'd automatically end up on his tab anyway. She might as well go ahead and take advantage.
Dragging an olive off of the toothpick and popping it in her mouth, she answered matter-of-factly, "I know I may not look it, but I'm actually kind of his second-in-command." It was a boldfaced lie, but he didn't need to know that. She picked up right away that he was here with an ulterior motive. What was the question. "I wrangle and manage all the girls and do a little bit of dancing on the side," she said, looking out at the club, "but not a thing goes in or out of those sparkly doors without me knowing it."
Glancing back at him again, she asked, "Why? You a bounty hunter?"
"Not a bounty hunter. Just a... concerned citizen, I guess."
Camiss turned toward the girl. He wasn't too keen on the way places like this ran, but she looked more put together than any of the other girls. Plus, if she really was in the know, she could be helpful. But a lot of deals can go down behind closed doors, so Camiss really couldn't expect much.
Getting the help of one of the dancers certainly wasn't something Camiss expected, and even more hoped, would happen, but that's the way it tends to go. When he needed to find the whereabout of a droid army, it was a common farmer that always pointed him in the direction. The people that are at the bottom can usually tell when something is off the best.
"What do you suppose he's talking to those other men about?" he asked, finally giving her eye contact. "And has he ever mentioned an Esco Dalibar? To your or anyone else?"

SOME LEGENDS ARE TOLD...
It was an off night for her.
And she was annoyed about that because, well, Una hardly had off nights. She considered herself a good judge of anything and everything—the type who could read a room and feel if it was any worth trying to stand out in, or if it was the kind where she would rather be a fly on the wall. Tonight was one of those rare instances where she wanted to be the latter.
Because she felt as if something was different about her second home, Astral Nightclub. The lights were as purple as ever, the carpet that same sticky-thick underneath her platform heels, the music as deafening, and the crowd as rotten as per ushe. She couldn't pinpoint what was out of sync but it was there, buzzing in her ear.
Nevertheless, she did her best to chug through the evening, watching like a hawk for any table unattended, balancing a tray of two drinks on her palm. No such luck. The other girls were like leeches tonight. Maybe they took every table from her out of spite, knowing she had a special performance coming up in about 30 minutes. They knew that, whenever Una took the stage, she emptied every spectator's pockets.
Her eyes locked onto a mysterious figure who took an ever-so-bold front seat. Now, Una had been working at Astral long enough to recognize who were the regulars and who was fresh meat. Astral was the kind of club that attracted the same type of person, and when there was a fish out of water, they stuck out like a sore thumb. A smile growing on her lips, Una walked toward the table, about to cross paths with Samanther who seemed to have the same idea.
"Back off, skank," she hissed. Samanther rolled her eyes and retreated.
At the same time, the aforementioned newbie she'd set her sights on had addressed her. Smile ever so sly on her face, Una set the two drinks down on the table before passing her tray to Samanther, who was on her way to the back.
"That guy?" she asked, snickering. "That's Boss Thedo. He runs this place." A beat, then she looked him up and down. The man was uncharacteristically handsome for somebody who slicked around this place. With a wiggle of her brows, she asked, "Is that a lightsaber in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"
The boss of a place like this was sure to be involved in some kind of crime, especially something like bounty hunting. Given the kind of people in the room, any number of them could be wanted for something.
Most Besalisks that Camiss had come across were good natured despite their tough, four-armed appearance. This Boss Thedo, on the other hand, was grimy and dirty and had a smirk like he was always up to something. He may not be involved with Dalibar, but he had to know something.
Camiss didn't respond to the dancers comment, though he did move a hand down to better hide his lightsaber. The second anyone saw a lightsaber, they did their best to steer clear of the situation, especially as the opinion of Jedi was dwindling. Without looking at the girl, he decided to try and get whatever information about Thedo as he could.
"This Boss Thedo, he wouldn't involved in anything like, I don't know, bounty hunting?" he said, his eyes fixed on the Besalisk. "I'm not sure how much you know about what he does behind closed doors."
@mutatedangels
It was the rare occasion where the Jedi Council tasked Camiss with something on Coruscant. Though the Coruscant underworld was a true hive of scum and villainy, the Jedi weren't involved in the policing of it. Camiss wasn't in the underworld tonight, but he might as well have been.
He looked up at the neon "Astral Nightclub" sign to make sure he was in the right place. Jedi didn't often find themselves at these kinds of establishments, but when you're searching for a bounty hunter, you don't often find yourselves at the finest of places.
Camiss pulled his hood over his head as he walked inside. The bounty hunter he was looking for, a Rodian named Esco Dalibar, had seen Camiss on a number of occasions. Camiss had been chasing him around the galaxy for about a year at this point, but he finally had solid intel that he'd be at this club tonight.
He scanned the room as he walked, looking for a place to sit and camp out for the time being. He wanted to blend in, so he took a seat at a table near the stage facing the dancers. As much as they were trying to gain his attention, Camiss had no trouble keeping his mind focused on his mission.
Time was passing by, and there had been no sign of Dalibar or any Rodians. He wasn't told a specific time, and that was something he should've asked. Camiss decided to get up and take a lap around the room, searching for any suspicious behavior Dalibar could be involved in.
In the corner he noticed a Besalisk huddled close to and whispering to someone in a hood, seemingly trying to hide himself as much as Camiss was. He'd never seen this Besalisk before, and there weren't many on Coruscant.
He decided to ask someone if they knew who he was, so Camiss stopped one of the dancers as she was walking by.
"Excuse me, ma'am, but do you know who that Besalisk over there is?"
